i want to learn how to create spells and the first thing i want to create is a spell much like impale. u target the ground point and the spikes come up. i would like to change the spikes to anything else and make there be no stun.
That's easy... Go to Object Editor and select Impale. Now, look for Stats - Duration and put all of them to 0.01. Don't put any duration to 0.00 becausee it will make the duration be equal with infinite. That should do the stunning stuff. Usually stunning spells have durations (check Storm Bolt as well) and that duration is actually the stun duration. The same thing with War Stomp.
Now, for the animations is more complicated. Usually animations and effects are edited through nomral fields which begin with Art. Art section includes not only efects but icons as well. Now, scroll up until you reach the art section for Impale. For this spell, the spikes are represented through Art - Special. Select this field and choose the animation of your choice. It should work now!!!
Perhaps make a tutorial or something? Hmm... But you will need to ask Darky then to put it... I tried once to post a tutorial "Bases of Programming" but... I didn't have the luck to find darky and then... my harddisk got formatted so I lost that... Too bad.
If you experiment with it, you will notice that implae spikes are the only model that can do that. Otherwise, like 3 SFX just pop up in the beginning, middle, and end of the trail.
Hmm... That is true indeed... I was thinking that you could have a dummy unit cast Shockwave at the same time so it looks like the Shockwave is rising the units up. What do you say?
i know i can change the impale but i want to try triggering it so the say frost nova isnt simotaneous. how do i trigger it so 1 nova comes up and then another nova after it in a line?
