Space Marine

This bundle is marked as useful / simple. Simplicity is bliss, low effort and/or may contain minor bugs.
fixed version.
anyways after so long time i am finally loading this.
this one is, in my opinion, less fuller than the previous version. i got rid of some animation because i thought they werent really necessary or i didnt think anybody needed them.
yep. i suck.... anyways....

please comment if you want any of the previous animation back because i will add on when i have time.

i tried to do something with a heavy bolter and stuff so thats why it took so long. in the end, i ditched the heavy bolter because the feedbelt wnet way retardrd.

the twitch with the animations should be fixed now and the particle emmitters works.

This model is pending for the following reason:
-Stand animations are completely bugged and unusable. Please fix this.
PM another moderator or me if you have any questions or resolve the issue.
--donut3.5--

BlinkBoy: the model's stand animation does not match each other and cause little flicks to occur during the stand position of the unit in-game. The attack animations aren't shown completely in-game. The model requires some retexturing and a sync in the animations. Stand Work also has troubles in-game. Due to all this the model is rejected, please update the model, fix it completely and PM a resource moderator.

Before you say anything, yes i know the texture on the backpack is ass ugly.
i am sorry.
i am working to improve the whole model including the texture.
and i will make the melee animation if i could

and for all those that might, view this message, what more details should i put in? like purity seals and stuff.
please comment becos it will help make the model more realistic.

and what more animation do you want in this model.
please send or post a picture of a pose you think would be good. it could be from the internet or even a simple stick figure you drew yourself.

also, this model comes with a bolter already. would you guys prefer a one without a gun rather than this

thank you

I know you said your gunna improve the whole thing but may i just point out the flaws (purely to help improve on this)
1.first thing i noticed is that the animations are realy chunky
2.the joints like the knees and sholders dont fix together
3.the texturing needs a compleat overhaul
4.and you need to remake the helmet
the general shape and idea are on the right track and when you look from a distance it looks proper also the model's size is too big
well thats my constructive crit.
good luck on improving... looking forward to the compleat version

The polys are a bit high... i would try not to go to high
maybe if you base your marine more on the existing marine already in warcraft3 and just delete/add bits like the helmet and the backpack and make custom animations for it it would look realy good

The idea is good but you need to fix all the little errors, and guy the helmet is SICK¡¡¡¡

But it is a very good idea... But a suggets, you should make it without any WEAPON and make some attachements like Bolter, Plasma rifle to put it in the editor with an hability.....

When you have fixed it it would be an honor if you let me make some texture for it...

Oh mighty emperor, It actually looks like a fething marine. First chance i get im going to slap of a 40k map in theyre honour.

I totaly reccomend you do more, perhaps a sergeant and/or a terminator.

One last thing, mind making a bolter-less version ? i know some sweet guns this guy could use.

for animating i am using milkshape. for texture, i dont know what program to use or how to map it on a model. if i did, we wouldnt have this problem with using only in game texture and i could make the model better looking i guess. i shall check the tutorial again. becos last time i could find it. it is there, right?
and i dont know how to base it on the existing marine becos i dont know how to animate it. its like all stuck together. if you havent noticed, my marine model's moving parts are all seperated like a robot. i dont know how to anmate joined stuff

i will remake the helemt completely and get rid of the bolter, and add attachment points. it gonna be a while tho and the helmets gonna need more poly. sorry, i know you advised me against it but i dont know how to make it look better with the same or less polys
Or i could remake the whole thing but thats only one possibility

shall i post the heavy bolter and bolter ammo backpack? it may not be much but its something.

To Mechanical Man. What chaos marine skin? is it on this website becos i cant find it. or am i just stupid, looking for it on this website in the first place.
God i am so helpless (-_-)

To Anteep, i am gonna start making the assault marines and terminators as soon as this model is perfected as best to my abilities. If i were to perfect it, i will try to make the following
Assault marines
Terminators
Grey Knights
Sergeants
Force commander (i think that's what its called, that guy with shiny armor and sword)
Dreadnought
i am not gonna make anything with tank tracks becase i would know how to animate it
should i make devastators too? they just look like normal marines to me. am i missing something.

and to everyone, thank you for all your comments and crits.

IMO, for modelling stuff like space marines, I would suggest you to use vertex modifier rather than milkshape, it would save you much trouble as importing/exporting and animating, unless you make better animation (current anims are not that good as you know and wc3 marine anims could still work). I use max, so I cannot help you much with milkshape. But there are good milkshape animators here, like Rao Dao Zao and donut3.5.

I would rather see already equipped marines, so you can make muzzle effects (glows, flames,..) for each of them.

PMed about chaos marine skin.

If you need help with animated textures I can help you.

Trouble with already equipped marines is it means more large imports if you want to use them, rather than just giving them different (small) guns, Mechanical Man.

I would like to see the marine unequipped, and I vote put more polys into the head - the model deserves it... though a better skin would make it easily passable ingame.

Oh an devestators are just heavy weapon equipped marines - only difference might be a different animation set to fire shoulder mounted weapons or somming (lascannon, rocket launcher) and a bulky generic heavy weapon backpack.

BTW this is perfect - just started a 40k project with some mates. the heavy bolter n backpack models would also be appreciated, though good job so far :D

Its like i said, get a version with no gun out there.

But first, fix the texture/model issues.

Edit: oh and the fact your getting this much traffic on a RESOURCE means it has at least some public appeal so dont be discouraged, keep trying and you will get it right !

People have been dying for Wh40k models for a long time, that's why it's getting so much attention.

A modification of the Footman helmet would get you very close to a Marine helmet. A Knight head would give you a White Scars sort of appearance.

The animations are a bit stiff, except the one where he has injected concentrated caffeine into his veins and his head goes very quickly from side to side

I really like what you did with team colour. If you hadn't done it, I would have suggested it.

Overall, good work. I'd give it 6/10 (-1 for not being Tau )

So much better. Pyramidhead, your improving !

I do think the breathing part is a bit big, might want to lower that down just a bit.

Zombie, considering that the old head looks like, and considering this (see below) is his base material i think the new one is better.

No double posting (if this rule is active in here). We got a EDIT button for a reason.

Keep it up, make the helmet better and ya get a nice little 5/5.

if you habent read the b4 posts, i do plan on making more once i finish this one. then i probably make chaos stuff.
i dont know about necrons and Tau.necron might be easy to make but not tau.
and for emperial guard stuff, i am sure that someone already made a lemen russ somewhere. i dont know who it was. i dont have a good memory. i am sure they could make things like Basilisk and Baneblade and all the tank stuff.
and who made that ATAT could make Sentinels
so it is most likely i will only make space marine stuff and chaos stuff. i am saying this so i dont get anybody too hopeful of me making tau and necron and emperial stuff.

heres a dread i prepared earlier(^-^) not animated tho

umm yeah. for modeling stuff, i use Vertex modifier and then i view it in Model editor. i find it easier than making the whole thing in milkshape which is kind of frustrating for me to use.
if i like what i see, regardless of texture or not, i import everything into milkshape and then i animate it. After i animate it and set the appropriete texture scheme, i export it to model editor then set the proper texture.
thats how i do it. sounds pretty inefficient using 3 program and going back and forth but it works.

anyways, on the subject of WH40k i am making one of these at the moment

God no... hehehe. not the CSM terminator(^_^;)although i will later on make it...
i meant the little demon thing at his feet. i am making something like that.
once i make the CSM termy lord, that things gonna follow him around.
my question is, does anyone know what its called and what it does? it seems to come with a lot of CSM terminators.

Yeah, necron would be easy. Especially if you use this skin http://www.hiveworkshop.com/resources_new/skins/804/.

Tau aren't that difficult either

And Illidan(Evil)X won't make sentinels. (he made AT-AT)

thats coo(^0^)ool. the robot guy, crisis suit or sumthin isnt it? my bro loves them. what texture is the eye from?
is that yours?
i guess that will be easy. i was more concerned with making fire warriors and where to get their weird face from.

Q. does Illidan(Evil)X hate warhammer? he made so much cool stuff, i thought it will be easy for him.
(that sounds so faggish. i realise after typing it. "i thought it will be easy for him". if you were offended by the above comment, it was not meant to sound offensive to anyone. so sorry)

Well, I asked him already. He told me he prefers star wars, c&c and modern stuff more.

If you need firewarrior, ask Massive_attack, he found it somewhere, although it still has wc3 marine proportions and stature, but with some vertexmodify work could become more tauish. I also used its texture to make the battlesuit. (if you wondered why is so messy)

i didnt think it was messy. i really like it. is it animated because if not, u should.
how much poly is it? my bro thinks its too simple but thats because hes hardcore tau fan.(whenever i play chaos or SM, he says "my firewarrior will kick your termy/oblierators ass if my computer was fast enough"

Well is hard to unwrap, if the texture was not meant for the model. I tried the best way around. And is partly animated, I did not finish it yet, as I lost a bit of interest because I am working on some other models now. Is not very much poly (you can see as how boxy it is) and yes, is simple as all my other wh40k models, seeking perfection for warcraft makes no sense.

And playing what? Tabletop, Dawn of war, ...

Btw, aren't obliterators chaos counterparts of terminators? And raptors could be based on Wildkin model I suppose
