Change only the model of the object type. If it's not playing anymore, it resides within the model. If it's a sound of the standard set, which will most-likely be the case since models do not contain sound files, you may consider replacing/overshadowing the path of the sound file to avoid meddling with the model, although it is very easy to remove.

Open the model with Magos, go to Node Manager. Look out for event objects, indicated by a camera icon. If you open it's properties, the type should be SND (sound) and the event tracks contain points of time of the attack sequence, whose interval is visible in the Sequence Manager. Delete this event object.
