ShadowRealm RPG demo build

ShadowRealms is my current pet project. It's a story driven action RPG set in a grim fantasy world, still cleaning up the mess left behind by a rampaging dark menace. The entire premise of it is based off slaughtering large groups of enemies, gathering precious loot from their charred remains and dungeon crawling. I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH,MAKE YOURSELF FAMILIAR WITH YOUR HOTKEYS AS YOU WILL NEED QUICK REACTION TO SURVIVE.

Simply for the purpose of exhibiting the game-play and maybe grant you 15 minutes of entertainment,i threw together this demo build. Most of the features and enemies shown in the demo will remain and some of the design of the demo dungeon will be reused.
The full map will feature, among the features displayed in the demo:
~More classes and races.
~Dungeons filled with unspeakable evil,at least 10 times the size of the demo dungeon.
~Abstract leveling system, where leveling gives you resources to purchase new skills and upgrade old ones, allowing you to equip 4 of them at a time.
~Item system where you can equip one weapon, one armor set and 4 miscellaneous items.
~More items to collect. Only a fool would go to battle when ill-equipped.

Very entertaining for a demo. I thought it was very interesting how different the combat system was...you don't just right click and let your character do the work you have to be on the edge of your seat the whole time pressing and clicking. One thing that really stuck out to me that was wrong was the Bererker Class's base attack. It had no cooldown like the other classes but for some reason you would attack then try to attack again quick but he wouldn't, then you wait awhile and he attacks again. I know this is because of the class having a slower attack rate but it should show in the ability's cooldown if possible. Other then that it was very fun and if that was just a bite I can't wait to order the dinner.

4/5 Great Work.

Very cool map, and innovative for once instead of the just mass grind, great work. Few suggestions though, make it so the heroes don't flee when you're attacking, it's very annoying (go into unit editor stats---->can flee, check to no). Next, can you make the hot keys bit more natural? AWED is just weird for me, try a row like ASDF. Also, increase the range on moves so you can attack at least 2 squares away if you're going to mob players often with 30 units, it's equally annoying when you have your character running around trying to hit a unit.

EDIT: Disregard what i said earlier.
Thanks for the info guys,i updated the map with the proper base ability now.
The minor cooldown thats still left in it is intentional,as i want you to bulldozer over encounters but i wouldn't want to make it too easy.

I'm aware of this problem and its my fault for not pointing it out really.
The same problem occures with the cabalist base ability but because you have to move around a lot to not die and hardly get crowded as him it was unnoticable.

Basicly, the cooldown is supposed to be instantly but it steadily refuses to actually be instant. Moving around directly after casting slash or cone of fire will reset its back cooldown so the only real way to play Berserker and cabalist is to attack, move or atleast rightclick anywhere and then attack again. Due to limitations i think this is an inherent problem and unfixable due to how the Editor works,so i was expecting that once people figure this out they would start playing as such. I guess while berserker is labled as easy mode its a bit of a beginner trap the way i was making him.

Have you attempted to make the animation for the spells 0 seconds? If not that's why it isn't working.

An awesome RPG, really beautiful.

- I didn't play with all the classes but I noticed that a few of your hotkeys are off. For the cabalist his frost shield is not on F, it's on E and I think one of the orcs had an off hotkey as well.

- I simply love your heroes, the way you use spells with low mana cost instead of regular attack makes the player become active and makes the game more fun.

- You are missing a DISBTN icon for your middle(in the list) dwarf hero.

- At the start you should make the hero "sellers" more close to each other so that the player doesn't waste any time going around the camp.

- Maybe you should use more triggered spells as well instead of just blizzard ones.

Overall
- An awesome Diablo-styled RPG.

My advice
- I don't know what your full release will have but I recommend adding some traps, some "side quests"(you come across a guy who tells you to go to the other part of the dungeon and kill a mini boss or something similar).
- I can't wait to see your full release(You must pm me and inform me when you release the map!)

Score
- Since it's only a beta and therefore short I give it a 3.5/5, but I doubt the full version won't receive a 5/5.

P.S. Please don't abandon the project :(

Terrain
I think the terrain was mediocre, nothing that exceptional nor bad. The way I see it, some places lacked doodads, and others could simply be improved only by some tile variation and other all things. The terrain was not bad enough to be disturbing, nor good enough to shine, either.

Balance
First I didn't realize you didn't have an ordinary attack, so it got quite confusing. But when I got used to your systems and such, it was fairly easy. I played as an Orcish Dark Templar. It was almost too simple to fight of your foes at some times, but not that easy either, this map falls under the category "somewhat under mediocre balanced".

Originality
It's an rpg, most things have already been done, several times! Though still this felt to some extent quite like a breath of fresh air in the rpg genre, the new "attack system" you used was quite interesting. Still, it wasn't that original, it was still the same hero vs evil scenario.

Fun-Factor
I kind of enjoyed testing this demo, and I understand future versions will be an improved and continued version of this. Though that, this was okey to play for anyone who likes rpgs. The only downside was that it got a bit too repetitive after playing for a while.

Overall
Overall, this map was "ok" for a demo. It was not great nor bad, I still think some elements of interest was there. There is lots of room for improvement at some some things, whilst others are already really, really good. My vote for approving this has to be... yes.

This map is too short but What the heck! This is the first map tha I have seen that is so COOL! Ill make my review:

ShadowRealm RPG demobuild REVIEW:

GAMEPLAY: 27/40

TRIGGERS: 11/20

TERRAIN: 10/20

HEROES: 15/20

TOTAL: 63/100

SCORE SCREEN:
If...
you got 0 points = 0/5 rating and no REP
you got 1-20 points = 1/5 and No REP
you got 21-40 points = 2/5 ratings and no REP
you got 41-60 points = 3/5 ratings and +1 REP
you got 61-80 points = 4/5 ratings and +1 REP
you got 81-100 = 5/5 ratings = 5/5 ratings and +2 REP

RESULT:
TOTAL: 63/100 = I rate this 4/5! Even for a demo, this is cool. I would like you to keep imrpoving the game. Make it more realistic by using HIVE's resources. They have cool tilesets that will fit for your terrain. That's all! KEEP IMPROVING.!
