sc vs AVP

is satarcraft a rippoff of alien and preator, or is it just a coincidence that the characters look so alike? (alien=zerg, Predator=protoss, human=human)

hell yes, starcraft ripped out Aliens vs Predator, blizzard should be blown up by an atomic bomb and everyone who bought starcraft should have their genitals cutten off and force them to eat it.

there might be an influance, after all, everything gets a little bit influance for another everything. when you draw a warrior, you add a weapon a shield, when you draw a orc, you make it warcraft-ish. influance is a share of idea and a loss of creativity, but the mix of influance and a new idea makes creativity.

for the zerg, i say coincidence, it's something common that aliens wishes to annhilate the world. and don't forget blizzard have many ideasman and history writers, so they're way superior to us in this domain.

anyway, i never seeen A&P, but i do think stararararararacraft have a unique storyline, like warcraft ( especially the kil'jaedan's offer to nerzhul for him to be a lich king or suffer for eternity )

Starcraft rules i liked it much more than wc3! For the time SC was made, it is much more advanced.
I cannot say that SC is more realistic, becouse they are both fantazy, but it always bothered me that the hero, in wc3, is like twice bigger than a unit.
And in SC the units are cooler! 8)

i think that maby blizzard took some ideas from the looks of both races (alien + Predator) but i dont think that theyre totally unoriginal. but anyways wc3 and lotr are a whole different story. theres practically a whole world of different stories and games based of of those myhological creatures. but im not sure who was the first to think of orcs or elves or dwarves or goblins, could be quite a long time back. maby nobody will ever know.

well.. there's this anime "Saint Seiya" ...there's a character in it called "Saga"... he's the "GEMINI GOLD SAINT".... in my avatar he does his most powerful attack, "GALAXIAN EXPLOSION"...

You can say Starcraft is a ripoff of AVP. But let's look at the facts:
1. They seem alike because of the fact that the races and their counterparts have nearly the same ideas. The Humans have both good and bad sides in where they all mainly want to colonize the planets. Then, the Zerg and the Xenomorphs(Aliens) just wanna destroy. Protoss and Predator are different because Predators want to just hunt for honor and the Protoss just want to reach into a higher class of technology.
2. The Humans are different within both worlds. The Humans(Terrans) are split into the Confederate, the UED, and the Pirate factors. While so, AVP's humans are split into the colonial marines and the corporte soldiers.
3. Protoss and Predators are quite different. They have different ideas like mentioned above. Yet, you can tell that the Predator use advanced capabilities and weapons while Protoss either rely on psionic powers or technology.
4. The Xenomorphs and the Zerg spawn differently. Zerg really don't need hosts to spawn using the larvae while Xenomorphs use the hosts DNA(or whatever it's called) to evolve. In my case, I think the Zerg are much more spontaneously while the Xenomorphsuse advanced capabilites to overcome much of overwhelming.

In conclusion, there MAY be some ideas Blizzard were inspired by from AVP to create the galaxy of Starcraft. But most of all, I don't think it's a REAL big ripoff like you guys out there.
