RoTKR ORPG V. 4.1a

Welcome to
Revenge of The King Rhobar ORPG

193162-albums6567-picture71279.png

Revenge of the King Rhobar Open Role-Playing Game is an 8 player map designed for Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne. It consists of a lot of different playable classes, each having up to 10 spells. There are multiple towns filled with quests where you can level up your character, or receive an item reward. This map is highly based on using professions. There's a unique system used for crafting, which adds to the gameplay. The map is newbie friendly, but also challenging after leveling up to the maximum. The project has started on the 6. December 2009, being "Vuto's ORPG" it's first name, due to my very old nickname. Since then, the map has been remade a couple of times, showing a great gap between the versions. Up to 8 players can play the map.

- Improved Mana Cost System (Mana cost is based on the base + depending on the hero level)
- Improved Summons (Certain summoned units will benefit from your main stats)
- Boss Arena
- PvP AoS
- PvE AoS
- 8 Different stats in the map: Strength, Agility, Intelligence, Wisdom, Stamina, Perception, Expertise, and Luck.
- Loot System (Including rare drops from general mobs, and gear gained by doing dungeons)
- 7 Unique Cities full of quests
- Knockback System (Each strike has a chance to knock the enemy backwards)
- "Easter Eggs"
- Certain items grant reward upon being found all together.
- Quest Chains, for some quests you have to complete other quests.
- Mount system with model of a rider on it.
- Grinding Quests
- Gathering Quests
- Story Line
- Fun commands
- In-game commands
- Unique Color and Interface
- Unique Item type colors
- Unique Hero names
- Item Sets (When having certain sets of items in inventory, you are rewarded with bonus stats)
And much more...

When you select your hero, the first thing to choose from is enhancing your passive spells. For now, you can enhance Evasion, or Critical Strike.

After that is done, you can choose which one of the main attributes (Strength, Agility, or Intelligence) will be further enhanced by 5. This is a minor low level addition.

As mentioned earlier, this map is heavily based on Professions. There are various Professions, usable by everyone, regardless of the Class. Some reward Passive Items, other Active Items.

- Blacksmithing - You can make various armors and weapons here. The crafted Items usually give Strength as main stat, along with offensive or defensive other stats. The core materials of Blacksmithing are Ores, gained by Mining.

- Leatherworking - This Profession allows you to craft items which when held grant Agility bonuses. Along with that, they will also grant bonuses to physical damage. Main material in this Profession is Leather Skins, which are obtained by killing wild animals.

- Tailoring - Tailoring is mostly used for Mages, as the items crafted from it grant Intelligence as main stat. Their other stats include maximum Mana pool, and Mana Regeneration. Wools of all sorts are used for Tailoring, which are gained by killing any enemy unit.

- Alchemy - Allows you to craft Potions. There are 3 types of Potions:
-Potions with Permanent Effects
-Restoration Potions
-Combat Potions

Each Recipe requires a Vial of Water, which can be bought at the nearest Toolmaker.

- Orb Crafting - This Profession allows you to craft offensive items, which on hit grant different effects. Very useful for both PvP and PvE. You can find the materials at their special places.

- Mining - You can acquire multiple stones and ores by Mining. Once you obtain an Ore, you can Smelt it to turn it into Bars. Bars are used for all Blacksmithing Recipes.

Lockpicking

Treasure_chest.png
There are various Chests all over the map with valuable loot. To open it, you need a special Lockpick, crafted by using the Blacksmithing. The better the material it's based of, higher the chance to open the Lock.

Revenge of The King Rhobar Open Role-Playing Game is also based on player's Combat Role. Each class has one or more roles they can fit in, and their damage done and damage dealt are based on it.

my diamond bar set is gone, sigh , oh well still got the helmet
Bug:
the knight that follow you will go stuck if you enter cave-dungeon thing (cave teleport)
Mob Farm Event Starter cannot be dropped, a player with level less than 100 can 'buy' it and it is stuck forever (level less than 100 so event does not start, but cannot drop either)

Also, some question:
What are King's letter quests? *EDIT nvm, just realizes it is repeatable (and not worth it in the end)*
Where is Lost spear? there is no clue ingame about this item..

==EDIT EDIT==
The load is still broken, stats are good, but still only slot 1 item

So I just played your map and I must say so far I'm loving it. I'm just gonna say a quick "review" here. Nothing fancy, just some things I liked and disliked and also some bugs I noticed.

I really like the terrain and the effect the fog is giving to the environment. Much better from the other ORPG's I have played. I also liked how you added the other attributes such as the Perception. Funny story, I was wondering why Mana Burn didn't deal any damage at rank 0 Perception. Had to reuse it around 7 times on kobolds to confirm that there was no damage. Another thing that intrigued me was that after picking my Hero (only tried Demon Hunter so far), I had two options depending on the type of character I wanted. Can't tell if this is common in ORPG's since I haven't really played much but this is a definite plus to me.

Now for the things that I found annoying during my run through the map. First was the lack of information. This is very subjective and I might not have noticed some instructions because I was playing at 4 in the morning haha. Also I found the locations of things somewhat confusing at first but I got familiar with the place easily after reaching the respective locations of the mobs and such. A big thing that is annoying me right now is the lack of inventory space which is only 12 slots total. Usually 6 should suffice but since there are crafting materials and quest items involved, I find 12 slots very small. Is there some kind of storage place for items? I remember reading about it but I haven't encountered any so far. Another dislike which I think is very subjective is the lack of information in the Quest/Information tab. I am unsure of what information I did not find there (cause I'm really sleepy atm) but I believe that there is still much room for improvement in for the Information tab. Last thing which I really wanted to have in this map was a way or command to know all your current quests other than passing through the quest givers. It just seems better to be able to remember the quests that you have to do without running back to town or the quest giver.

Some bugs I noticed.
-I am unsure if this is a bug but when I first tried casting my spells (yes I had Perception this time), the spell wouldn't deal any damage and probably didn't even trigger. There was only a message saying that my Hero "is out of mana" even though I had enough mana for the spell.
-Not sure if this happens to other later quests but the quest giver who is asking for an Iron Bullet gives you the recipe multiple times when you approach him multiple times. Is this intentional? I haven't finished the quest yet, btw.
-Now this bug made me giggle. At the mining spot at the bandit camp, if you go to it but target an enemy unit before the mining begins, the hero will start attacking the targeted unit during the time he is supposed to be mining. The targeted unit will just flee away (I'm assuming because the hero becomes untargetable or invincible during mining) giving you a free kill. And you still get the ore after "mining" even though the hero didn't go near the wall and spent the whole time chasing the target.
-Minor bug I noticed. At the base of the bandits where the Bandit Lord is located, a Bandit was able to pass through a small gap in the right wall passing over the rocks. I think this was unintended so I am reporting it.

Overall, I think this currently-great map still has a long bright future ahead of it. I am definitely looking forward to future updates. Good luck to you and to the game!

Thanks for the review. Let me answer the bugs now.
The first is not a bug. Spells' mana cost scale on the hero level. However, it's beyond WE limits for me to actually show it. There's a passive spell that each hero starts with which describes exactly how mana system works.
The second is intended. This quest is meant to be completed multiple times.
Mining was always a trouble for me, I'll have to think of a unique system for it.
I'll take a look at the trees and the location when I'm avaible.

I've taken a break from mapmaking for some time. I'm not sure when the newest version will be out. I'll surely post it here when I get back to it once again.

Once you accept a quest, there isn't a quest log, also there are no pings for your current quests, am I the only one getting that? Or there are some ways to solve it? Other than that, perfect RPG!

You can melt ores to bars in one of profession camps, they're somewhat hidden and located at the edges of the map. Use the blacksmith for it.
Imba pro items aren't available in newer versions, they were never meant to be available.

Seriously, quests are not saved/created in the quest menu. Do I have to memorize them? It's why I stopped playing.

-The same. Fix that first.

-That button with additional spells/skills. So "trendy", very inconvinient: constantly open/close. Suggestion: Assign a hotkey to it or much better place those useless informative passive buttons there and active skills to the main panel.

-Camera is too distant. My eyes stumble while i try to descry anything.

I rarely comment but this map has kind of forced me to.
I wanted to express my disappointment.
Nowadays wc3 maps have been flooded with korean garbage with grinding stats/items/whatever and hp/dmg in millions.
When I launched RotKR for the first time (and for the last) I was really excited. The map looked cool, the spell descriptions were long and detailed. It was such a relief from the garbage I see in most of the orpgs - 'clik buton 2 cast spel plz' etc.
There's a lot of content, the map had an enormous potential! Didn't matter where I went, there was always something to do. Even in the starting city, I noticed some small items hidden behind trees / on the ground, I could turn them in for xp! We've struggled at first but had fun. Everything turned to shit after getting lvl 15/20. My ranger got a skill +1000% dmg. Yeah, you've heard right. I laughed how my fellow mage struggled to kill wolves at lvl 30 when I just stomped them at lvl 15. #balancedmuch. Same case with paladin, he got some crazy +100 armor and +%923469 dmg. So we've steamrolled through everything till we've met boss monsters. Boss monsters didn't care about our +%24524243 dmg because they had +%01230535 dmg themselves. Oh joy, yet another korean grind in disguise. I'll pass.
My personal fav orpgs are ones with numbers as small as posible (#1 Gems of Unification,#2 Gaias ...) and a lot of people agree with me. Thought I've found a map that'd be my #3. I guess I was wrong.
