Protection W3 Map Optimizer
If you do have any question about this map, register on the official homepage.
I share everything I do, through map open source or systems posted on the board.
The reason the map file is protected is only because of the optimisation which grants a lighter map and, overall, a faster loading time.
As a consequence, this prevent noob-hackers to generate codes.

The map
This map is between a Hero Survivor and an ORPG.
Pick your Hero class, do the quests and try to survive. You may be able to save your experience and the medals earned during the game.
Experience gives you bonus and grants access to more Hero classes.
The story of the map is about the Restricted Complex 601, a private giant-laboratory owned by the Thanatos Industries. It's a global firm leading researches on weapons,

biology, physic...
The RC601 is an underground complex [The first version ever I made was in that complex, but for many reason, I changed it to a game happening on the surface]
Players will be requested to take care of a zombie threat and to follow the orders of their employers.




Game Modes

Story
A mode with more than 50 quests, randomly generated or depending on the success the last quest the team did. Through a game up to 16 quests are playable.
Missions will alternate between base or unit defence, scout, escort, protection, search and destroy...
There are 3 chapters, each one with a final boss (added to the several boss spawned each quest end).

Survival
The team will have to survive to several waves of creeps with an increasing difficulty. Basically, this is a pure survival mode without any other thing to do than survive.

Last stand
The objective is to defend a database in a random base until the army arrives to fight a last boss.

Assault
The objective is to search and destroy NPC bases; there, the players will fight against creeps and NPC.

Team Deathmatch
Same than deathmatch, but players are divided into 2 teams.

Trophy Hunt
The objective is to keep a flag and prevent the opposite team to keep its own flag

A Bridge Too Far
Mode removed.


Difficulty
Training
Not available at the moment

Normal
The basic settings. Normal creeps.

Nightmare
It is like Normal mode with harder creeps (+10 damage and +50% health points, +20% chances to spawn special waves etc.)

Insane
Harder than nightmare; a lot of special waves, more boss or miniboss, creeps with a second upgrade...


Quests
-Complete Quest Trees with random/conditions to make each game different
-Each quest has its own universe of creeps (combinations several unit types)
-Each quest get its own boss
-Each quest success brings experience. If the quest can be failed, and that players fail it, you will not get experience but get an other quest.
-Efficient AI for creeps, allied units and non-hero units to avoid micro-manage. Creeps are able to act with some intelligence (heal, dodge-jump etc).
A part of the creeps will patrol into the direction of the current quest objective, and the other will directly follow the living heroes.
-Proportional difficulty: the more the experience average between players, the harder the game is (Creeps statistic will be improved and chance to get special waves will be

raised)


Heroes
-several heroes with many spells and a different gameplay for each one.
-Each hero has a spellbook with shared abilities
-Each hero has its specific spell tree with up to 16 skills
-Each hero has a different role and gameplay
-Heroes are unlocked if the loaded code provides a rank enough high.


Save System
-Save and load your experience. This allows you to change of hero each game (and avoid a boring unique character).
-Experience brings up to 20 ranks.
-Each rank provides a general bonus (health, mana regeneration, move and attack speed)
-Ranks unlock hero class.
-There is a medal system (since 1.27) for the best players (which also adds little bonus); medals are granted through the achievements of some special stuffs during the game.


Realistic Equipment
Since 1.09 there is no more one weapon/unit and one ammo-type per unit. NPC no longer have limited ammo, excepted they need to reload.
This mean the weapon is "hidden" (no more item to stock in the inventory) for Heroes, and all units have the same ammo-type (item type) they can load or drop from their weapon.
It is less realistic but after a lot of tests, it makes the game less complicated.
Units can carry up equipment, grenades, explosives, weapons...


Dozen systems
-A weather changing during the game

-Dozen items which can be combined, consumed, some being class-restricted etc

Restricted Complex 601 is organized around a quest trees: you will not play all quests in a game, but only some of them.
Then, the quest you will get will change depending your last quest was a success, a fail, or, sometimes, an other random choice.

At last, the one of few perfect map on WCIII. :ogre_haosis:
One word to describe this map : AWESOME!
Terrain is very nice, storyline/mission is good-structured, and I like the idea of picking the heroes.
One thing I want to request you : can you add changelog to your updated map? Example for this RC 601. I want to see the changelog! It make me curious! :grin: Or there is indeed changelog but i don't see it?

Okay I checked back up on this game, and looking at the legend you added in the hidden tags, made me gasp in a good way. Then I watched the F22 flight, and I shit myself, I commend you Jk2pach, the map looks like it's developing, I'm going to need to test it again.

I just hope you made the models for the soldiers and zombies slightly larger, and fixed the terrain up a bit.

Alright here is my second review of newer versions.........

Excellent work, the map is much better than the first version I tried, mostly the terrain, although custom trees would help with it's appeal. The zombie models and overall game models are very nice and very well used. The biologist model could use some serious tweaking though. Now here are some other things to improve. Most of the icons you use sort of suck, you need to use some more smexy imported icons. In some of your cinematics you can see the edge of the map and its terrible black background filled with random black and pink and gray, just a big smudge of shit basically. Never allow the camera to directly see the map's background. I really like the amount of effort you've put into this map, I think it has paid off, just fix up some of these small problems.

Also I still say the models for your enemies and yourself are too small to right click to attack or left click to select, maybe increasing the selection size would help.

You also need to add gunshot effects to the models, because firing a gun with no gunshot isn't very realistic.

Okay I just noticed a few things I think are absolutely retarded and you need to fix them.

1. You can kill objects like the hangar and the bunker. There should be absolutely no way to do so with such little fire power. Most buildings, especially the ones in the town should be doodads or invulnerable destructibles to save you the time of changing them to doodads.

2. Most of the doodads you used have no pathing. WTF DUDE!? How can I run through a wall!? Make sure all of your doodads have pathing. Because there is no way to walk through a steel wall without some serious explosives where I come from.

3. You scaled up a few doodads to the point where they are overwhelmingly large, and there poly counts often times don't hold up their size. One of these doodads is the factory model, which I can somehow kill going back to problem 1.

Fix these up and I'll keep supplying you with more things to improve, so you can polish this map up.

1. You can kill objects like the hangar and the bunker. There should be absolutely no way to do so with such little fire power. Most buildings, especially the ones in the town should be doodads or invulnerable destructibles to save you the time of changing them to doodads.
Gameplay > Realism. The buildings are sight blocker. You can kill them, but on their death, they spawn zombies or some effects. That's a will.
2. Most of the doodads you used have no pathing. WTF DUDE!? How can I run through a wall!? Make sure all of your doodads have pathing. Because there is no way to walk through a steel wall without some serious explosives where I come from.
Because of their scale. There is no pathing blocker enough big for most buildings. More, for half the doodads, I want units spawning from them.
3. You scaled up a few doodads to the point where they are overwhelmingly large, and there poly counts often times don't hold up their size. One of these doodads is the factory model, which I can somehow kill going back to problem 1.
I'm not sure to understand. You mean low quality?
But it's warcraft III, 10 years old game :p
Fix these up and I'll keep supplying you with more things to improve, so you can polish this map up.
Thanks dude, but I prefer work from my own board for this, just because it is simple for anyone to register, and that there is already an active community which leads the map.

Okay well lemme suggest one last thing on the scale of some buildings... You can't scale most buildings as large as you have without making them look like shit because of the low poly count of wc3 models. I still think you shouldn't be able to kill buildings, and if you can you should need a hell of a lot of fire power, and they should have death animations..

And quickly as for the pathing, use pathing blockers lol. If you are inexperienced in such take a De.Facto terraining course. :p

This map is very fanciful. I tried hosting it on bnet but everyone left because they were experiencing lag under my t7 connectionthey has bad cpu

What's the matter if you think they has bad CPU? You tell us only to deride them? Don't post anything that are not important. And what way do you mean fanciful?

@Addamondes: there was a bug with 2.02; I used Widgetizer, but it caused desync. 2.03 fixed this.
@a422456w: when u are ingame, use -save

I didn't say use HQ models just don't scale models up to a massive size, and if you can kill buildings without a death animation find a way to make it more realistic rather than just having them disappear.

Might I ask how you got those epic camera angles in-game? It would be cool if players could do that too.

I played for 6000exp and it was very fun. The terrain was great with barley any improvement could be made just around ramps you've made you might want to check them they have like a vertex missing warcraft bug that lets you see through ground. The only real problem that completely effects the game is the turn off exp thing when theres one player even though there was players. Oh right theres also people that haxxor your map, allot of people.

Hi, Mr. Jk2pach.. Can I ask you why I'm DCing every start of the game? is it a bug or is just me and pc and net? Everytime the Loading finished and the Control: You are downloading bla blab lba in your internal cpu.. after a few secs.. I DCed.. but my friends didn't dced but only me..? I can only play it on Single Player without errors T-T please help me.. I wanna play your map..

Please note an important thing: without graphic settings - lights set to the heighest value, you will NOT be able to play during the quest: Q6 - A Project and the random quest RQ2 - Com Center. I mean, you can not play those missions in the darkness without using flares/ground illuminating flares/field lights to light the ground. In low settings, those spells will not get any effect and your screen will stay black.

My Review

I played this map with a friend, and we were like 'WTF? What to do?'.
First we thought its just a usual zombie survival game, but then we noticed quests.
We were really confused at first, till this Mother Zombie thing came and like killed all marines/soldiers.
That was before I read the description :p
You need alot of skill to be able to survive and actually play this game.

Its fun and I can only tell you to test it.

Director's Cut 6/5

Okay, first let me speak about the author of this map a little.
He is one of the most patient map makers I know. He's been waiting on this review for months. Only about 3 PMs to me asking about it in that time. And even though he thought I quit trying, he still has no hard feelings towards me.
That is downright inspirational. He is what map makers should strive to be. I have no positive bias towards him other than this, so please note, this review is not biased. It is the truth.

There are normal maps and then there are maps like this. Maps so good, they almost qualify as a whole new game, because they make you feel as if you have left warcraft and are now playing an actual game, instead of just a map.
This is such a map. No review could do this map justice.

First, let me talk about the gameplay. The gameplay can be hellishly complex or nice and simple depending on the mode and quest. Which is a great thing. It gives us nice easy parts and hellishly difficult parts. Which keeps it interesting.
This map comes with lots of modes. There's a game mode for Team deathmatch, free for all, all the way to a storyline.
Fantastic.
There's lots of custom units and abilities. Tons to do. I've played this map on every mode, and I must say, it doesn't get boring.

There's a save/load system that is implemented perfectly, so you can always come back to your previous heroes. Which is just fantastic for gameplay. You can choose to continue, or to startover.
This map has great gameplay value. It'd take hours upon hours to go into details about everything.
My recommendation, is to just play the thing!

Now, the terrain. It seems unrealistic at first...I mean roads going through the forest and over shallow water, but if you think about the story line, then it makes perfect sense. I mean...that's what we as humans would do.
The terrain isn't the most epic of terrains, but it's pretty good. It has no visible flaws, and it looks pretty good. It's got custom things here and there that make it look more realistic. Which is good. And they don't add to much size to the map.

For the triggers, which I received from deprotctor I used. Which makes me a bad person, but oh well. They were great. I mean, there's a ton of them, true. But they're all necessary. I found no leaks anywhere, and they were all pretty well organized and only maybe one or two could be improved slightly in efficiency. But other than that, they're flawless.

As for the aesthetics, they're also pretty great. Custom UI and custom menu UIs. Tooltips are well organized. Gameplay is easy to catch on to. And the description is very well above the standard. The description is pretty informative and VERY well organized.

The storyline is in depth and takes awhile, so it's pretty great too. The storyline is also very in-depth and has tons of quests to keep you busy.

The abilities are all executed well(my favorite is still the night vision), and they are usually pretty helpful and well thought through.

I love what you did with this game. It's pretty great. I still haven't gotten bored, and I've played this map probably a hundred times now.

Sorry if I was unclear on something, this review isn't too in depth and amazing, it's just pretty much telling you everything about why I'm going to give this map the highest rating possible. A directors cut with 6/5.

If you want me to go further in depth on something, then just ask. I'd be happy. But for now, just trust me. This map is about the best it gets.

idea is great, fun is great all is great, only what i change is more mission on story mode and large time to choose mode of game..

btw.. 5/5 the best game for warcraft 3

and some question for people in hiveworkshop, do anyone have some bot in http://eurobattle.net/ server to put rc on him.. we cant get new ppl became dl speed from pd.eu bots is 50 kb/s.. :s
