This may be not exactly new, but it's resurfacing every now and then:

Is NWO really just a 'conspiracy theory'? Schwab does talk about one world government...

It's a natural thing based on the laws of the universe.

The Big Bang ended up in matter particles winning over the collision of anti-matter and matter ones. Then, the cosmos expanded considerably while particles cluttered together forming stars, planets and galaxies, even cluster galaxies, basically unitary things.
On Earth it so happened that life appeared due to super rare chance conditions (sun/star at the right distance from the planet, asteroid belt as a protector from incoming asteroids and comets etc.) and as it developed from RNA to unicellular and then multicellular life forms, it also went through a sort of biological expansion, creatures becoming bigger and bigger and smarter. The primordial conflict still dominated (even does today) through survival of the fittest and the hierarchical system (as seen with particles to atoms to elements to macroscopic entities).
Regardless of the background creation and destruction (which is part of the energy fluctuating phenomenon, e.g. transformation and assimilation of energy, entropy and so on) of matter (=energy), everything, even life ordered itself towards a sort of common goal.
First, there were microscopic life communities (bacteria for example), ultimately the mammals that became humans. They lived in tribes and as they colonized the planet, tribes were in conflict and then united forming kingdoms/countries. We see the expansion phenomenon in much of everything from gaining dominance over other species, land to hoarding money, developing technology and gaining knowledge.
The trend of land and nation unification extended even in recent times (20th century) through Communism, Fascism (authoritarian regimes, pretty much worse than many of the past empires and kingdoms) and the European Union.
The future seems to be first concentrated on developing non-biological technology as artificial intelligence, robotics and nanotechnology.
Right now, humanity is still in conflict, less than before of course but interests between countries vary considerably. There is still a sort of mass individualism that prevents a common goal. Thus, the idea of technologizing the whole planet is considered as the next step so that humanity could for instance have a better chance at colonizing outer-Earth planets. Do not worry, after that happens, whole planet nations will be like how countries are today.
No one is saying that there are no risks in globalizing, however, the other side slows humanity's progress as the idea of the common goal would be frequently interfered with. What is kind of going on is the application of utilitarianism which means not everybody will be happy about or benefit from it but most will. So, it's a sort of communism in a way. Think of it as a sort of natural selection that we are aware of but might not have any influence over.
Of course, this raises a load of deontological questions as "Common goal by who's standards?", "Why doesn't my plan/opinion weigh more?; shouldn't we vote on it?" "Why is this actually necessary?" and "Can't humanity just live peacefully as separate nations on this planet?".

Humanity has been unifying or rather simplifying things across history. From polytheism to monotheism and philosophical thought like pantheism and syncretism as Hinduism, Christianity, Baha'i and theosophy-like movements. Then, the fusing of theology and physics (Big Bang=part of Genesis/creation myths) and the Theory of Everything that some theoretical physicists work on.

The phrase "You will own nothing and you will be happy" has its roots/inspiration from religious philosophies like Buddhism and Jainism that allege that detachment from material and harmful spiritual things brings release from all bad in the world and purifies both the body and especially the soul. A bit contrary to Communism or Marxism that throws out the spiritual, emphasizing on the material but in a distributive by need manner. This thing is seen, for instance, in the human body where cells all work in harmony to keep the body healthy. No normal/healthy cell eats more glucose/energy than needed to function properly, no more antibodies and immune cells are produced at one time than necessary and so on. On top of that, our bodies are not just harbouring our own matter but also foreign one, commensal and mutualistic bacteria. The paradox of Marxism/Communism is that it claims to eliminate the class struggle, basically hierarchy making everyone equal but at the same time that equality is being kept under observation by a supervisor that ensures the system's proper functioning.
Any set of ideas that is practiced, becomes a way of life, education. Some might not agree with anything, some with a thing or another and some might fully agree, basically, the system of thought that is part of the code of their existence.

There are some unanswered questions though like "why is the universe expanding if the idea is to get to order and union?" I guess, dark energy is part of the background conflict of matter and anti-matter, helping entropy while life tries to slow it down. Who knows...
