Oh my God...I've been working on my map for about 5 days of my spring break, and it's really been awesome. I'm a lazy person, but this is the first actual complex map I've tried to do.....BUT - I just put the FINISHING touches on the first playable version, and when I went to test it single player, I found the player spots all screwed up!

So I went to see what's wrong in editor. BUT I CAN'T ACCESS IT. IT SAYS LEVEL INFO MISSING/INVALID. I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING AT ALL TO PROTECT IT!!!(I don't know how).....IS THERE ANY WAY TO SAVE MY MAP!?!??!?!

If this map is gone, I think I might just shred my computer to a thousand pieces. I workd so long on this...(made completely from scratch, not a single thing to restart from)...:emote_sad: :emote_sad: :emote_sad:

I don't think I can ever remake that perfect copy of actual Europe terrain EVER again. This was a map that had practically complexity of Europa....GodDAMN.

Map corruption can be caused by MANY different things. I've had my fair share of it; I think all mappers have. One good trick I figured out fairly early on, is that whenever you test it, it saves the map in your Test folder. You should be able to open the last tested version from there, saving yourself a lot of work.

As a side note, always keep up-to-date backups. It's a life-saver.

5 days is not that much of work...
most maps take weeks and months...

anyway...try the following:
rebooting
scanning your comp with an ant-virus
scanning with ad-aware
unplug your internet (and try before replugging it)
rescan everything
replug internet
connect to B.net

try working it after every stage...

last time something like that happened to me the unplugging made it work...strange but that was the deal...so internet-controlled virus...

I doubt it's a Trojan. No Trojan virus would attack an individual Warcraft 3 map.

Llama is very panic, he post twice at post 3 and 4...

I once take this problem but I am an lucky one, I save my map as 1.00 each time I edit it I give the version 1.xx+1 and it make my map saved

The version 1.34 broken why? Because I am too spirited to test my new update and make mistake with the map save, when I save it I exit it too fast a bit 0.000x second and make my map unreadable.. Lucky I still have my 1.33 version...

Llama before you scatter your computer to piece why don't you give it to me?? Better make maps with 2 computer, double editor in two hands (Just kidding)

It may have been five days, but I had spring break - I spent probablay 8 hours in each day working on it :emote_sad: ...with spring break over, I'm definitely betting it'll take over a month...

As I believe has been stated already, everyone has experienced this at some level or another. I've actually lost 4 months worth of work on one map. (no joke the map was epic size and had villages/towns and billions of custom info units/items/spells). Anyway, try searching the warcraft III folder in your computer. If your using the normal World Editor it saves a backup copy of the last successful play in the maps folder under Test.

Always make backups. All my maps (except spells) (and I never finished) I backup after every few hours of work, if a save error would occure I would have very little to redo. Often if your comp is overloaded this issue can happen, the memory interfiers with something or MSN decides to go virus on you and takes up all your recources so WE makes mistakes when saving, some of them result in BSOD and some result in ERROR messages, most say nothing at all. I never had a map save incorrectly and I save on average once every minute or so. The true cause is yet to be discovered.

Luckily, YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO SAVE YOUR MAP (well atleast part of it)!

Sometimes only one or two files are damaged, the rest save properly so if you were to take thoes working files and move them to a working map and remake the other files, you might get a perfect working map.

it is map corruption. You have restarted computer only a few seconds after u saved map, or we crashed. I happened to some of my biggest projects, but i didnt go on forums and cry about it.

It happens to most everyone, which is the reason a lot of projects end. But honestly, there's no reason to be rude to him. He's upset, anyone is when they lose a map. Show some compassion.

Yea, sometimes that can work. If you can determine which files are corrupted, you can isolate them, extract everything else, then import them into a map that only has the few corrupted files.

If you don't know how to do this, follow the link in my signature "Converting FT maps to RoC." It's much the same process.

i was "rude" cause just THAT morning i lost map ive been working on for 2 days.

That's no reason to be rude to someone else. If you're going to be rude to someone in your post, then don't post it.

I don't see it as a problem, nor has it ever happened to me. The fact that I don't sign my maps (excluding my clan insignia) contributes to that factor, I suppose. But really, is it so important? It's a video game, why do you need to become known on a game?

I have 1 big reason to known on a game, because Indonesia doesn't has any good game in war3... I just will raise my country name and make all of friends that say me idiot when I still at Indonesia to cry of blood..

Reason for every people are different, I don't care if you feel no reason to put your name but it's big for me

At thread somewhere I don't remember I was say this:

Sorry for bad english, I just junior high school student from indonesia that dumped in uzbekistan country.. And I just 13

Well, they're my friends but not anymore until the day we make challenge to make a war3 map, me vs. 4 people to make a map in 1 week and I lose.. So I will defeat them while they're laugh from this dump country

Back to topic--- Sometimes when I save there's no problem but when I make 1 more triggers the next saves are having script error problem, what the heck is it??
