Hello everyone.

We are currently in need of additional resource moderators to help manage our map and spells sections.

  • Why?
Since The Hive Workshop is growing so fast, our resource sections are also:
  1. We have a great number of unapproved maps that still need to be tested and approved; many new maps are also received every day. We are a limited group of moderators and are having difficulty keeping up with the submissions.
  2. The import of the spell maps is soon to begin: new moderators will needed.

  • These jobs would require moderators to:
    1. Downloading an unapproved resource and test it.
    2. Rate the considered resource and make a comment on it.
    3. Approve the map (or spell map) or ignore it.
Important: Make sure you have enough free time to do this!

Please consider carefully if you should decide to volunteer for these positions.

Users that are interested in becoming part of the resource moderating team
will be rated on their overall posting habits and actions.

Our staff will decide which members will be selected.

Post here to sign up.

Regards,
~- Heero

I would love to help, i like testing map's, and i do, i rate some too as well as model's.

I like the approval system, i dont want to see it go.

I would be glad to help, assuring several map's tested and rated per day.
I know i'm new here, but i'm famliar with how map's are approved and rated, i even had one of my map's done so to, i have obsereved many map's and their approval comment's. So i'm a bit famaliar with how to do so.
.....If i could get some rep...
Hmm..

----Edit----
I do need positive rep to be mod right?
I'm pretty sure i do.

Further requirements: Must like loaps, tags, melee and 'other' category maps. Those type of maps are piling up because none of the resource mods like them and therefor they dont try them and therefor they stay on the aproval queue. Basicly we need people with good endurance towards crap :). You will be trying the worst maps we got to offer :). Sign up today!

I'll sign up. Why not?

About loaps ;) I have played few LoaPs recently, same with Sheep tags, and I'm melee player, so I fit to that. I know what makes a good map, technical and fun factors.

I have a lot of free time ^^ I've never been a moderator on any Wc3 site before.

Relating what Rui and mini-me have said, its going to be hard to find people who will take the "reject" pile of map's that other high rep mod's will not take.

-----

I will be glad to take your garbage map's! I used to love loap's, the rigged one's with god and death and such dont really seem to have a point but are plain fun! Make me a garbage map mod, hell i dont care. As long as i get the job.

The approval of our map resources is indeed a weighty matter and an important responsibility.

In addition to the requirements on Heero's list I will take the liberty to add:

Aspiring new moderators must:
  • Be familiar with and righteously uphold the site and resource submission rules.
  • Aways be dispassionate and fair toward resource submitters.
  • Act only in the interests of The Hive, its users and the Warcraft III modding community.
I have a few possible candidates on my own short list. I encourage every interested Hive Workshop user to post their credentials and qualifications (essentially a resume) in this thread.

Our administration will carefully consider only the most qualified and deserving applicants.

I think I'd enjoy modding some of the maps. I actually enjoy tags and have a group of friends who play on TFT with me who also enjoy them. I also play ladder (though I have ranked up many losses while i was learning). Another plus is that I can host on b-net. Honestly I can say that I dont play LoaP but I could still search through it for quality of the map and triggering etc. Im sure you guys can tell I follow rules pretty well. The greatest downfall for me being a resource mod would be a lack of time (except for weekends). Although, in the end I think I could at least help out with alot of the mess.

In short, im meticulous and impartial but I dont have a HUGE ammount of free time. I would likely test around 20-30 maps a week, maybe more or less depending on the week.

I would be honored to join this forum's staff in moderating. If what Mini-Me said is true, and there are a lot of miscellaneous maps piling up, I would be glad to thin that pile. I really don't mind spending some time thoroughly testing the mostly un-played maps.

I would be able to moderate both maps and spells.

I replied to your "triggering" part, not the "map" one... but... hell some mod should delete our posts, it is a big spam in official thread

You can delete your own replies as not to spam. (click edit then delete)
Also, what are the expected duties of a resource moderator? Does a resource mod get privlages in the forums as well? (such as close/move topic) or only in the resource section (move resource)? And are they required to sort a certain ammount of maps within a deadline? or is it just clean as much as you can, when you can?

I would love to moderate the map section. I like testing new maps (even if they are garbage) and have alot of spare time to do it in. I think I am fair, and I give reasons for what I say and always try to help people to improve their maps. I will be do my best to help you moderators to approve maps. I can not host on battle.net, but i often gather with 4-5 friend to test the map together, and we often give the feedback together.

There's no voting lol....this is not a popularity contest (though it does affect the outcome :p). Just a hint: aplying by saying "i dont have much time but" pretty much kills your chances. We are looking for people who have the time. I would also see the ability to host as a very important part.

Umm.. I'm very pleased Wolverabid that you thought of me too, and believe me, i'd really love to be a spell moderator, but i wouldn't be much help, because on the computer i have internet, i do not have warcraft, as it wouldn't run on it (due to its performace..). So i could only check maps by downloading, putting it on a pendrive or sthg, and carry it to my own comp... So f.ckin' disturbing. It wouldn't be that great problem, but i'll graduate in hight-school in three weeks, so i will not have time to do that.
So sorry, maybe later. Until that, i'll check spells that interest me, write comments, maybe post my own ones, but nothing more.
But thanks again!

Aye, I also got Wolverabid's PM, and I'll apply for the position of moderator for the new coming Spells section.

Qualifications --

I have JASS experience, a fast enough computer to not freeze for 20 minutes whenever I'm testing a leaky spell, and way too much time on my hands.

Continued - My wc3 modding history --

I started modding wc3 when it came out, but to put it quite blatantly, I sucked ><

I only worked with object data and basic triggers, and had no comprehension of leaks. I also had no idea that a modding community existed over the internet.

Anyways, later, in December of '05, I found out about wc3search, and joined it. I was quite the newb at first, and felt like I was top of the world.

I had learned very basic JASS (yet didn't know why BJs were bad, etc), and I submitted some GUI-JASS spells at wc3s that weren't exactly that great.

Daelin reviewed them, and pointed out alot of the things I had done wrong with the Jass. I then fixed them up, and learned quite a bit about Jassing then.

Anyways, shortly after, as I practiced and practiced with Jass, etc, more, the helpee became the helper, and I would browse the Spells and Maps section, and respond to a good portion of the posts there.

Finally, in (July or August, can't remember) of '06, VGSatomi offered me the position of Maps moderator at wc3s, and I accepted. The site basically went down shortly after, and then we moved here. I didn't get back into foruming for awhile, but now I'm back and active as ever

That's a short and to-the-point summary of my modding history.

I could take on the task of the spells section if needed. I've been using JASS for just over a year now and I have good experience with JASS and would be a "fair" person (seriously). I'm familiar with vJass and WeWarlock (though I don't know anyone but me who even thinks of using WeWarlock). And that's about it - I don't feel like writing an autobiography of my life (though some users may feel inclined to do so).

[off-topic]

This an extremely important and serious thread.

Tomorrow I intend to edit this thread in order to clean up the off topic spam and leave each hopeful user with ONE post to detail (and show off) their credentials and qualifications.

A new system may soon be developed to help insure that if any new moderators are chosen they will be only the best.

Please stay on topic.
