-Mortal Hero Defense-
A five player Hero Defense Map
Work as a team to fend off against 50 waves of Scourge and Burning Legion forces. 10 of which are boss encounters.
If you wish to test this map singleplayer, you can use the -singleplayer command to take control of all five players

  • -Heroes-

    There are 42 different heroes to choose from, 6 of them being Hero classes while the rest of them are just regular classes.
    Heroes can either be tanks, healers, supports or damages; some can even be a mix!
    Each Hero has 6 abilities:
    The role ability (V Hotkey) - Depending on the range or type of class, they will have a different role ability, all tanks have taunt, melee damages have stun, ranged damages have root & support/healers have purge
    The Aura ability (Passive) - A passive aura that grants a benefit to nearby allies, unlocks when the Hero has researched up to level 4 of their skills training
    Regular abilities (Q,W & E Hotkeys) - These abilities have 12 levels each and can be learned from level 1
    Ultimate ability (R Hotkey) - These abilities have 4 levels each and unlocks every 10 levels. Ultimate abilities are the same amongst classes e.g Retribution Paladins have the same ultimate as Bulwark Paladins

    Hero Classes

    Hero classes are 20% more powerful than regular classes and begin at level 5, but can only be played by Player Red.
    They tend to have unique features about them, such as the Spellblade dealing magic damage as a melee, the Engineer dealing siege damage, the Demon Hunter dealing Chaos damage etc.
    Do not feel obliged to pick a Hero class if you are playing as Player Red as a regular class hero may be needed.

    The playable Hero classes are:

    • Spellblade (Melee Damage)
    • Engineer (Ranged Damage)
    • Monk (Tank, Damage & Healer)
    • Chronomancer (Support)
    • Witch Doctor (Healer & Support)
    • Demon Hunter (Melee Damage)


    Regular Classes

    Regular classes can be played by anyone
    Each class has 3 separate specializations which may be different roles such as the Earthfury Shaman is a tank, the Primal Shaman is damage and the Restoration Shaman is Healer/Support.
    Regardless of specialization, the ultimate will be the same for a class.
    There can only be one player per class, if someone has picked Destruction Warlock, then no-one can choose Nether Warlock or Shadow Warlock

    The playable regular classes are:

    • Guardian Warrior (Tank)
    • Protection Warrior (Tank)
    • Rage Warrior (Auto-attack damage)
    • Bulwark Paladin (Tank)
    • Holy Paladin (Damage & Healer)

    • Ice Death Knight (Melee Damage)

    Team Composition

    Team composition is very important as some classes work better with others such as the Arcane Mage that grants mana to their allies; this would be better for a Protection Warrior who uses a Mana Shield ability than it would be for a Rage Warrior who relies upon auto-attacks.
    Some heroes have the same aura ability, such as Assassins and Chronomancers both granting increased attack speed. So this should be considered when picking.
    A good idea would be to have 2 tanks, 2 damages/supports and 1 healer.

    -Enemies-

    Enemy Waves

    Fend off against 50 waves, 10 of which are boss encounters.
    Waves are time based, so if you are too slow to defeat a wave you may quickly be overwhelmed!
    Usually the enemy will have their support in the back such as Necromancers that cast raise dead, Skeletal mages which cast Bloodlust, Eredar Warlocks that cast mighty heals. Focusing on killing these will make the battle much easier.

    Bosses

    There are 10 boss encounters which require teamwork and co-ordination to beat. Such as Rage Winterchill whose splash abilities deal more damage to secondary targets than the primary one, or Azgalor who deals full cleave damage to nearby enemies, so stand back!
    Bosses drop their heads after they die, these can be turned in for gold & lumber or can be turned in for a tier set, an incredibly powerful item which grants a significant passive bonus.

    -Mechanics-

    Mortal Forces

    From the Mortal Castle, mortal forces can be purchased which sends an army to attack. Do not send them in to die but rather send them to compliment your team when fighting off enemies.
    Upgrades can also be purchased from the mortal castle which do things such as improve the damage that the towers deal or grant Ankhs of Reincarnation at shops.

    Class Halls

    At class halls, upgrades can be researched with lumber that improve the damage,mana,armor & hit points of the hero.
    Weapons training increases damage dealt and attack speed for some classes
    Armor training increases defense upgrade and hit points
    Skills training increases mana points, mana regen and level 4 grants the hero their aura ability.

    Item Upgrades

    Items can be upgraded with ingots, ingots such as Iron and Silver can be purchased while rarer ones like Dark Titansteel and Felsteel drop only from enemies.

    4. Upgrades don't say what level they are.
    5. Abilities don't mention their level in the learn ability menu.

    6. How many times can you research the burning oil?
    7. How to bring the gargoyles down if you don't attack air, have any spells for air, any gold for archers and no towers left? Are there any items that can do it?
    8. After, during or before Anetheron's wave, a gargoyle remained in the undead base. It came or disappeared on the following wave.
    9. The researches should disappear when the max level is reached.
    10. Some heroes don't have glow. You could simply add it: How to add Hero Glow without Modeling

    Such a map has been done numerous times and there are better ones. Enfos Team Survival is much better than this one for instance.
    Maybe you can improve it with more custom and less regular Warcraft III material. Bosses are practically stronger units, they don't have any special mechanics or anything. Shop items are also not attractive.

It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated too.
    • A detailed changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.
    • Map thread tags are important. Please use those that fit and not more or none.

    Shop items can now be upgraded using ingots, while a claws of attack level 1 may not be appealing it would be cheaper to buy one and upgrade it using ingots than it would be to buy an already high level one.

    I still think the gameplay should be more interesting. It's rather repetitive and not innovative.
    Think of some game modes or stuff to do.
    Maybe you can give the abilities and items more work too, especially the abilities which are regular Warcraft III ones.
