Hmm, this sounds interesting. In the past I created a mod for 1.30 that used assets from RoC Beta that I ported in an automated way to the modern formats. To try to get started on something, I dumped the contents of that mod into a 1.31 Folder Map.
Most of the stuff is loading but some of it didn't load in-game. I think it's easier to get the game to load external files as a "mod" on startup than it is to load the files in a map.

upload_2019-6-8_8-41-59.png

Here in the editor, the Wisp and Druid of the Talon loaded their modded icons, the terrain looks a little different, and the alternate tree models have loaded. The Day Night Cycle lighting environment loaded the alternative one so the color scheme of the world is darker at night.
The Steam Tank has the wrecking ball, and the Druid of the Talon has horns, blue hair, and Furion's staff.

But, in-game it seems to be the case that the custom terrain tiles were not loading. But I'm pretty sure people have overridden those in the past with success.

Here's my very first WIP.

WIP1.jpg

It will be a simple coop map in which a night elf fisherman volunteers to help evacuate his town due the Murloc/Naga invasion, aided by a skilled archer and some ancient guardian wisp. At night, the players escort the transports to the safe zone. During the daytime, they get back to the remote village and wait until dark to save more people over and over.
So one player sails the boat around while the others shoot at everything on sight.

I guess so.

Well, would love to read more opinions regarding this subject. I mean, the 'hiddenness' of the night elf fishing boat I took (which will have a major role in my map) might seem a random thing and I can't think of anything that makes my situation different from the one who decides to make an item grabbing the hidden acorn icon, call it Lord Vader's Dear Acorn and make a Star Wars map out from nowhere. Hope I'm not spreading too much drama around, I just want to know if my entry actually follows the theme.

I think yes, because, as you sayed, the fishing boat is very essential tool your map, and don't kook like something "random" or "from nowhere", exactly as a arena and quest map isn't (as my opinion) random, if his central point is the SSS.
A secret model seems sufficient for an original map, if the central axis of the same will be the unit that has that model, and this is the case.
Your idea is excellent, but, as this is just my opinion, I would recommend you to further increase the importance of the ship, making, for example, that, at a certain point, the enemies attack the ship instead of the heroes and, if they destroy it, you will lose immediately. That would make the player love with all his soul to that damned boat, or hate him forever for frustration, marking the difference between victory and defeat.
In addition, the ideal would be that the presentation (title, screen image, etc.) is centered on the Elvish fishing ship.
I'm sure, if you do all this, nobody could accuse you of don't follow the theme.

I would agree with Leods: the idea of this contest is to take a secret plus an idea and seeing how far you can run. Just using a hidden model would be a weak use of the theme, but it's a different story if the model is the centerpiece of your map and everything revolves around it.
If you're still uncertain, you could try weaving secrets/references into quests or stories. Again, use secrets/hidden missions as the center of your game.

Oh! Abelhawk!
I watched your videos, so i know that you know a lot about Easter Eggs, so... Do you know something else about the secret Sasquatch society? I don't want to ignore the Blizzard's words, but I didn't found anything else than what is watched in the lvl of Undead campaign.

After some thinking and reading you guys I decided to better go for a short map based on the inexplicable absence of Tharifas during the campaign featuring a custom, unreliable and disposable plot.

Do you know something else about the secret Sasquatch society? I don't want to ignore the Blizzard's words, but I didn't found anything else than what is watched in the lvl of Undead campaign.

The only way to know the furry truth is to let our hair grow very long and infiltrate our ways through the inner Sasquatch circles. Jokes aside, I doubt there's a particular reason behind. If you ask me, the level designer just thought it was a fun random thing to add and break any monotony, leaving us clueless. Just like an actor at the start of a film saying 'I'll be back!' and never appearing again.

This theme, may fun. I would like to join the contest if I have time to do it. Btw, can I ask some of questions?

> Is there a requirement map size?
> Does mean of hidden, its referring to the Warcraft storyline or you can create your own storyline
> Does Hidden can be Referred also as easter eggs?

There's not much besides just what that one sasquatch says. That particular secret was created by David Fried of DesignerDave, so there's a chance he might respond to you on his channel. All he has to say about it in his playthrough highlights video of that map is mechanical stuff about the triggers behind the encounter he made, so I think he just threw it together for fun. Speculating about what "secrets" the "secret society of sasquatch in the woods" have is all yours!

Not exactly sure if this is the right way to enter the contest as I've never participated in a hive competition before, but here goes. My entry is based off of the Largest Panda Ever hidden unit in the fifth Night Elf mission of Reign of Chaos. The Map will be themed as an escape mission by running away from the Largest Panda Ever. Players will be able to find areas in the underground caves where ancients can be built to either slow the panda, train units, generate resources and more while constantly having to keep moving forward to reach the cave exit before the Largest Panda finds and squishes them.

Yes, that's the way.
I must ask you for permission.
I was planning to ad the Largest Panda Ever as a mission for my map, so, ¿Van I use it too?
I hope you don't think that I am copying your idea, being my map can work without this

I'm a huge fan of Abelhawk's series of videos!
I'll try and whip something together, but unfortunately I've taken summer classes till the end of the month. I hope I can get something presentable by the end of the contest.
I'm thinking calling it Orgrimmar 64 and having a Mario 64-style game play where you talk to random heroes like Drek'thar and Thrall and get transported to special zones where you collect coins by exploring the area and finding secrets. I juts hope I have time to realize this project!

I´ve seen most of people do something extremely... Different.
So, is my map a "mini-map", I am a bit worried about that, being my map can be considerated as an RPG, but extremely simple, without any advanced mechanic.

I finished all Warcraft 3 several times, just i don't found any relation between the Easter Eggs and the information you writted before.
The secrets on my map was related to all campaign story of each race and secrets.
That means you will try to use EVERY secret and story in the WC3?
Sorry, I still do not understand what you pretend to do, maybe because I'm not familiar with Vampirism maps, since I never play one.
If you really want to reflect all the campaigns story in only one map, it will be extremely hard.
There are 7 campaigns for a reason, but if you are sure, let's go.

Not sure if I'll have the time to finish, but I'll give it a try!

Here's my early WIP:
WC3ScrnShot_061619_211307_01.png

You control your character in 3rd person with WASD-movement and look around/aim with the mouse.

Left-Click: Melee Attack
Right-Click: Defend
Right-Click + Left-Click: Attack while Defending

The map is inspired by Dark Souls and the "Chapter Five: Gates of the Abyss" campaign map with the Butcher and the "Wirts Other Leg" easter egg item.

Maybe?, but not EVERY secrets in wc3, maybe I'll add my own style of hiding secrets or easter eggs. And I think already that my map will be likely a vamparisim and rpg with a twist. For now I'm focusing at my terrain before I'll do the coding.
