Microsoft Math 3.0 is a pretty cool math software especially made for students. It can almost do anything you want it to do. I've tried it and it works great! Try it out! http://www.microsoft.com/math/default.mspx
You should also try Maple 11. I use it and it's GREAT. It allows you to do sooooo many things, plotting 2D/3D graphs, massing integration/differentiation, solving, algebra, matrices and the list goes on and on!
I just used LaTeX for my formulas, since it's powerful and easy and looks like code. P)
It's not like you really need this stuff to solve anything (Other than plot graphs) anyways, though, and I just use Graph for that (neat piece of freeware).
