You can now play maps bigger then the size of 128MB on battle.net with other people.

I just tested my 165MB map, it worked perfectly fine. It just takes some time to upload it to Blizzard servers.

Now, let the new era of map making begin!

I still wonder why there are maps with such high size.
Are you using massive sounds, musics models and textures or something?

This was just a test map with junk Data to see if we can exceed the 128MB limit. However, I wanna use a lot of Images in a future map so it's kinda nice to have.

It's been 256 for some time - we missed the change in our patch notes.

Would you be able to remove this limit? There's maps that are even bigger. We have an anime map that's over 1GB, 2GB or even 4GB.

it worked like this since patch 1.29 if I remember right.

You do realize that a 1gb map might surely tend to lag in multiplayer, right? Also, who in the world is going to wait to download such map? Not all new players might have it.

Only blizzard can do that. Unless it is discovered they already did it. Who knows

The load time for such a map would probably be huge, especially as you have to wait for others to also finish their loading.

I do think there is a practical limit for map size.
I think 250 seem pretty reasonable.

    Reason being tilesets.

Because I am reaching 40 mb by just importing tiles and trees.

Sure, this is not remotely optimized. But it is not uncommon for a HD texture to be 1-2 mb.

Map download speed has become significantly better since last update. Too bad it seemed to break battlenet too.

Expecting people to have good pcs when it comes to an old game is a questionable choice.

Plenty of people on the hive still run windows xp, enough said.

If people make a good map instead of aiming for 1Gb maps and are playable with no lags and a decent loading speed it's all good. No one wants to play a map that takes a considerable size of memory.
