Is it possibble to use the critical strike ability without the overhead damage display? If so, what do I have to change, and where?
I want to use the ability because I need to multiply damage of units, but since it would be a generic ability and most units would have it, I don't want the damage displayed all the time.

I accidentally found the solution.
If a unit has both critical strike and the searing arrows ability, when the ability is turned on, the damage is not displayed. :)
I could not turn off the slam animation though...

Anyway, if someone wants to disable the critical strike display, searing arrows will do it.
I have not tested, but it might happen with other abilitie too. /I suspect abilities that give damage bonus, may do it./

That's not a great solution cuz you get stuck with searing arrows while you don't want them.
You should look in the object editor at the abillity-section, you might find something.

Ok, I just realized, that if I use searing arrows, it also disables the critical strike ability itelf, not only the thext... So yes, it isn't a great solution...

Rui could you please tell me where exactly I can change it? Because I checked the interface a dozen times already, but all I found was how to change the "miss" text.

I think you can't change it in game interface, since it is no text or something like that, it's a variable number. Game Interface is constant for the whole map.

It is embedded in the ability's code so you can't change it. You only could try to make a custom ability that has the same effect as Critical strike (multiplying damage), only not showing the number of the damage done.
