it all depends on what audince you want. atm hive is mappers and war craft players. if you want to keep it that way we have toc content with the likes of wc3campaigns, thats like linux vs microsoft, one is obivously better but everyone follow the other one ne ways. if not we need more generic things to attract non wc3 players too.

well most people here (as in the 800 or so, including those not posting) were attracted by the map, which is indicating fan of the map. however because these forums focus on subject such as map making, more than map general chat anyways, that ratio becomes unbalanced. while it is difficult to say i would guess of the 800 most, say 75%, are fans of the map. of the 50 or so who post here nearly all 90% are map makers of some kind?

yes well a good idea takes time to come up with, at least here we have a place to brainstorm ideas. The only way I think that would make us more popular is somehow getting members from other wc3moding sites. With my contest for example I made a post at wc3sear and wc3anvil about the contest, so most of the contestants are from wc3sear of wc3anvil. Also another idea is with other forums when asking for a hosted forum you have 2 make this huge long info and so on. Thats why I came here, because I couldn't get my projects hosted anywhere else. And all Ralle asks for is a discription, name and moderators. Maybe we could go on some advertising campaign trying to get more hosted projects?

i would like to play a oas which has a plot more in depth than "attack the castle coz we said so". if you gave the battle a point, it could also make way for unique items, like if u play for this amount of time u get this axe because the blacksmith made it for whatever or if you do that sidequest before whatever thing happens u get some new magic. also giving each player an induvidual side quest would be cool. like one players could be to kill 100 fire creature, anothers to heal 5 teamates. also if you do a side quest like collect 50 wood for the bears there could be little cenimatic for that character. like battleships or whatever it was called u could have different classes, like the trader but also the collecter and the healer and the fighter and the black mage ect...

i could give ideas :p

the only thing i have yet to see from a wc3 map is a style where what you do affects the game in severly different ways. similar to how in deus ex : invisible war you can chose stealth over assualt and it will make a different outcome. so in a map say if you chose to be healer, and you do one miniquest but not another you get different options opened, and more quests and more items. it would be alot of work but the game would be unique every time, no battle would ever be the same.
