LotR The Battle of Helm's Deep

This bundle is marked as useful / simple. Simplicity is bliss, low effort and/or may contain minor bugs.
The Lord of the Rings: Battle of Helm's Deep

This is a surprisingly well done Castle Siege map that was made. Over time, I eventually ended up with this surprisingly high quality version. Anyways, this mod of Helm's Deep has some skins, music, and cut scenes to go with the flow. It tries to be as faithful and realistic to the source material as it could.

It also fixes some unfair tactics like Hallpacking, but it doesn't completely nerf either side. Also, there are tons of ways to counter units but you have to play it to see it.

Strangely enough of all, you can ACTUALLY BREAK THE LADDERS! Obviously, this is important. Heroes can use the LADDER BREAK skill to kick ladders down.

There are tons of surprises, but you can tell this took a rather long time to make and polish.

Here are some tips for each player and which Hero they are!

THE FORCES OF ROHAN

Player Blue: Aragorn, most well balanced Hero in the game. Although very strong, his actual defense is lower then expected so avoid too much combat. Has a powerful Mounted Form to deal Splash Damage.

Player Teal: Hama, defensive Hero. Most players won't purposely pick this one, but he is still important. His ability to summon Reinforcements is vital. Type -we need some reinforcements! for a one time backup of reserve troops. Has a helpful mounted form to increase mobility.

Player Yellow: Gamling, defensive Hero. Like Hama, most players don't select this Hero on purpose. But like Hama, he can summon additonal reinforcements. Type -we need some reinforcements! for a one time backup of reserve troops. Has a helpful mounted form to increase mobility.

Player Green: Theoden, the Leader of Rohan. Although a skilled fighter, his greatest skill is his Leadership bonuses he grants to his allies. His Ultimate does the most damage of any attack in the game. Has a powerful Mounted Form that deals splash damage.

Player Orange: Gimli, Tanking Hero. His Jump Attack allows him to move instantly a short distance and allow to enter and exit combat easily. An assortment of Area of Effect Spells make Gimli a deadly foe. Has a mighty Giant Form to resist magic.

Player Purple: Haldir, the Support Hero. His skills are useful but best to support other troops. His Ranged Form does good damage, but with lowered defensive ability. However, his magical melee form does far more damage against foes.

Player Dark Green: Legolas, the Ranged Hero. His skills are varied and has two set ups. If in Melee, the Knives he has is a useful Crowd Control technique. But ranged is his best skill, so keep away from harm as he is extremely fragile.

THE WHITE HAND OF SARUMAN

Player Red: Ashgag, Offensive Leadership Hero. Gives powerful ranged Auras, and is a devastating close combat General. Has a focus on offensive abilities.

Player Gray: Gashnag, Defensive Leadership Hero. Like red, sharing many abilities except using them in different ways. Has a focus on defensive abilities.

Player Light Blue: Lugdush, the Hero Killer. Unlike the other three, this hero is designed to slay enemy Heroes. With many skills that can stun, he is the only one who can defeat certain enemies.

Player Brown: Magdas, the Ranged Support. Although support, he actually has the most damaging skills on the Orc's Side. However, his low defenses mean he must be behind someone else to act effectively.

Ladders are cheap and are easily placed on enemy fortifications. The Light Ladder is for the Shorter Wall on the Left Side. While the Heavy Ladder is for the Larger Keep on the Right Side. Remember that Humans can kill them, so keep your forces nearby to transport them quickly.

Siege Weapons like the Battering, Siege Engine, and Ladders are vital to victory. However, knowing when to use them can be tricky. The most important is that the RAM can be used to transport troops also, so garrison Berserkers for a shocking surprise!
