What is this?

This is a comprehensive list of the assets that can't be previewed in the World Editor through the asset browser. Certain editor addons allow the preview of these assets but we won't be covering them here. You're more likely to need this tutorial if you don't use any editor addons. An asset can be eligible to this list if it: Does not appear in the asset browser Has been updated to Reforged graphics Is not a duplicate of another asset

I mean you can just type in the filepath but I get what you're saying, would've been nice for them to just add the options in the art - model section of the object editor but i don't know how easy that is.

Sorry for the quality of the screenshots, aspect ratio is not preserved and the Reforged editor preview shaders are all fucked up. I'll find a better way to showcase the models while keeping the screenshot homogeneous.


EDIT: How to get good quality images of the icons? I don't seem to be able to get Wc3Viewer up and running with Reforged. Does anyone have a clue?

Is it just me or the Ziggurat is way too similar to the Classic. I remember seeing in the beta that it even had eggs on its foundation

Also by the looks of it, maybe Volcanus was supposed to be an enemy hero in Countdown to Extinction

A request - can you try to find the "score screen" icons for all the hidden hero skins, like corrupted cenarius and female demon hunter? They have different names than their original command card counterparts.

EDIT: It seems that several resources do indeed exist in the editor as defined units, like the war wagon and the high elf runner. Are you sure they aren't duplicates? They even seem to have identical animations and icons and such.

These two models are indeed used on existing units, available in the World Editor (but not in the Asset Browser).

They are indeed "unique", at the opposite of some such as "Gyrocopter", "Blood Elf Engineer" or "Orc Catapult" (which have an "hidden model" which is exactly like the base one).

Not only did they just "replaced" without second thought, they also "removed" all of the "Frozen Throne" / "Reign of Chaos" model version we had (well not all of them, but almost).

So they "reduced" the amount of different models we had.

"Chaos Orc Ranger" just does not exist anymore!

The "Orc Catapult" which was a legacy from Wc2 does not exist anymore!

I'm so stupid, I tried to find them in total frustration in Barrens, Cityscape, Lordaeron Summer/Fall/Winter, and Villager Summer/Fall in Structures, Cinematics, and Props before hitting uninstall

There is a Blood Elf Lieutenant regular unit model, a High Elf Swordsman regular unit model and this Blood Elf Swordsman which is an hidden model.

The score screen icons, at least for the female death knight and demon hunter, almost definitely exist:

EDIT: open it in the regular YouTube site, because the captions are hiding the hero icon in the top left.

Although it really looks like the frame might be the regular command card one, it seems to be no different from the frame of the other heros' score screen icon frames.
So either they are all score screen icons, and we haven't found the appropriate icons, or they are all the regular command card icons, and it's pretty awkward.

EDIT 2: After looking at melee hero units in the editor, their score screen icon is actually the OLD WC3 icon before reforged, and yet when you look at them ingame, their icon is the NEW WC3 icon, with an uncertain frame. So either way this looks pretty trippy.

EDIT 3: So a model that is listed in the editor, but doesn't have a default object, is the awesome ice bridge from the Reforged RoC Undead Campaign. It's listed under Destructibles as Special Ice Bridge <Base>.

Scorescreen icon referes to the icon of the hero being displayed in the scoreboard at the end of the game (when showcasing what heroes you played with and their level).

I already retrieved the ingame icons of the female variations.

Weirdly, the Orc Demolisher projectile is hidden, although easily found in the projectile art field for the Demolisher: abilities\weapons\DemolisherMissile\DemolisherMissile.mdl

If you select Units - Missiles -> Demolisher, you get the projectile for the Draenei Demolisher, which looks similar to the Ancient Protector missile, and doesn't match the projectile that is visibly loaded into the Draenei Demolisher at all!

The Shadow Hunter missile also seems to be hidden: Abilities\Weapons\ShadowHunterMissile\ShadowHunterMissile.mdl. As far as I can tell, there isn't one that matches the weapon Rokhan carries.

I've just been using Cascview to look through the casc file for anything that looks unfamiliar, then checking what it is in the World Editor. Of course, most of the time it's just something I've forgotten about or something with a weird filename...

Beta model of elf engineer is still in game files. No teamcolour, missing textures on his weapon, problems with eyes. Path: Units\Creeps\BloodElfEngineer\BloodElfEngineer.mdl

A texture of beta hippogryph with brighter fur (like this one: https://wow.zamimg.com/uploads/screenshots/normal/889860.jpg) made it to live too. No model for it, unfortunately.

In a recent patch Blizzard added a new spear for the Tuskarr, but it's hidden in the editor: (although you can find it by checking the Tuskarr Spearman's projectile art)

I think the more comprehensive the list the better, so nothing should be excluded.
