Hold the <Shift> button, while double-left clicking on the field like you always do when you open fields, and you can set negative values. As easy as that

The shift button also allows you to exceed normal maximum values in the World Editor. Positive numbers also have a limit in the World Editor, but if you want a higher number, you can hold shift and double-click the field (just like Linaze said) and you'll be able to insert numbers above the natural limits of WE.
