Project 2:
Hopefully i'll actually get help for this. It's a fairly simple map but what i am aiming to do is create a multiplayer rpg for battle.net

It will be reasonably simple in terms of triggering *from what i know so far, never know what'll come up.*
but i will need some help.. alright.. i'll need a lot of help with terraining.

Basic Story line:
(6-8 heroes, unsure of max players yet.)
Eretharia is a world where magic and technology have combined. There are 2 main factions in Eretharia, the Alliance and the Delian League. The Alliance lies on the massive eastern continent, a land covered in hostile creatures and rogue mini-factions. The Delian League is a powerful nation which has pacified most of the western continent and lives in relative safety. Crime within the Delian League is almost non-existant, with the only real crimes being committed by the exiles who were deemed unfit to be part of their nation when they conquered the continent. The heroes will be part of the Alliance, a group of ex-league elite soldiers who were unable to accept the terrible secrets that the league holds. They will travel across 2 continents containg various dungeons, towns and horrors in an attempt to take down the league and defeat their tyrannical reign.
-----------------------------------------------------

Heroes Classes:
Swordsman - The swordsman excels in the art of Kage No Jutsu, or shadow technique. The swordsman is essentially an assassin, hiding in shadows and using his spiritual energies to manipulate his enemies minds.

Bronze Soldier - Bronze Soldiers are the highest ranking members of the infantry.. at least that we are aware of. They are equipped with modified assault rifles and, unlike the Swordsman, perfer a head-on approach.

Templar - Templars are mystical figures who, after years of training, have been able to develop their mental powers to the extent that they are able to manipulate small areas, altering weather patterns and physics.

Medic - Medics are.. well.. medics. Unlike most medics, however, the Delian League medics are also trained in poisons and small firearms making them effective at taking out single-units as well as patching up troops on the field.

*more to come*

The swordsman is essentially an assassin
then why not just rename them as assassins? uniqueness should not be prioritized before ease of playing. if there are some things that are fundamental to gameplay and are fundamentally complex then there's no way around that, but you can take steps make them less complex or easier to understand.
also, would bronze soldiers be rangers? are there any "tank" classes?
altering weather patterns and physics.
a cool idea would be giving them improbable yet possible powers that work within the laws of physics (ie: Colonel Roy Mustang, from Full Metal Alchemist). like telekinesis is theoretically possible if you consider that most electric charges have accompanying magnetic fields, and magnetic fields are what stop you from walking through your walls; since the human brain operates largely on electrical signals, it's concievable that a properly... tuned... brain could manipulate magnetic fields enough to cause noticable movement. or shoot lightning. possibly read the magnetic field around other brains to read thoughts. not deep dark secrets, but what is conciously, possibly unconciously being thought about. possibly creating external signals that a body responds to, like making a person move without them thinking about it. they can resist, but you could also send signals to make it hard for them to do so. while i'm aware that there's something in here that could be wrong, it makes your map cooler because you give explanations that are convincing.
Unlike most medics, however, the Delian League medics are also trained in poisons and small firearms
actually, if you know enough about a poison to effectively and rapidly treat it, you probably know enough about that poison to effectively and rapidly administer it in such a way as to cause a lot of trouble very fast, anywhere from seizures to death. an idea for part of the storyline could be that someone, maybe a couple someones, with such training are going around and causing political trouble? maybe doing that as a distraction for some sort of invasion?

hope i helped :D

I see your point but:

1: If it works within the laws of physics it's hardly magical.

2: Infantry medics are not trained to treat posions, your thinking of doctors.

3: I named it a swordsman because assassin is getting boring and unlike most ordinary assassin classes, the swordsman is supposed to be able to hold his own in a head on approach, he just prefers getting up close to his targets and finishing it quickly.

i wrote this post at 12am, spur of the moment thingy. There are still more classes i need to develop, which, by the way, i forgot to send out a call for help.

Looking for hero ideas of any type.

k. lol ur probably right on all of those points. maybe add a psionic class with the things i was saying? would fit the technology part, and would be pretty unique. not to mention it would crush the brains of half the BNet population, that's a plus XD. ur swordsman class is pretty unique compared to any assassin/swordsman class i've ever seen in any map. ooh maybe have subclasses, like templars can be normal templars or psionics, swordsmen can be like how u said, more based on head-on combat, or more based on assassination, etc. no ideas for bronze soldier or medic subclasses tho. still hope i helped :p

Hmm.. this is going to another cancelled project most likely..

Anyway, thanks to Teh_ephy a new class:
Psionic:
The psionic is like a templar, in that they too have inhuman psychic abilities. However, unlike the templar, they are more specialised with dealing with the minds of their enemies. Only the most highly advanced of physics can enter the mind of another without becoming instantly insane so the Psionics are equipped with chenlling armour, allowing them to not only control their powers more effectively but also come equipped with a small shield to protect them.

Trailer

I'm going to be releasing a trailer soon, hopefully it'll attract a few more people to the map and hopefully get a few applicants. Sorry to everyone whose models i use, credit goes out to you but my computer is running too slowly for me to go search out all of the names of the creators.
