A great way to control your dear users if done nicely. I'm being a horrid idea stealer but i like Newgrounds's submission system... you need 150 votes ( from 1 to 5 ) and a defined minimum rating ( let's say 2.25 ) after all votes have been cast for your submission to survive ( This way users could help the mods no? ).

When you voted betwen 1 and 2 on a submission and that the submission have been deleted after 150 votes wich, in average, gave a score of 2.23, you shall receive 1 point of doom!

And when you vote betwen 3 and 5 on a submission that shall survive you receive 1 point of protection!

And with points, you could show that youre a big voter and earn might and respect from everyone in the universe. Everyone will want to have 17 000 points just like you and will vote on all new submissions night and day.

I am affriad that would suffer the same problem that out last voting system did. People would only be rating 1 and 5. WOuld might as well just make a 2 option system consisting of "good" and "not good" since that basically how everyone rated anyway.

If any voting system was implemented, it would be Vexorians, where any vote, wether a 1 or a 5, was worth points. So even if you voted a 1, thats still 1 more point then the resource had before (basically all votes are posative). And those points lead to prestige. But even he said his version had flaws, namely since only new resourses would be voted on and bais against old resources buried in the archives that arent likely to ever get attention again. In short, there is no flawles ssystem. Once there is, we will implement it.

I like his other idea about "thumb up" better.

How about adding a text to all those old resources: "This resouces was uploaded before voting system was implemented." With it nothing would tell that the resource is bad just becouse it has no votings.

Actually for the addition of features to the site I have a plan, but depends on what Darky says, anyways I figured out a way to get rid of that flaw and many of this site's problems.

The site has thousands of old resources. It is very unlikelly a guy will get into them unless he loses all his time checking each of the pages.

I think that a good idea would be replacing the last 3 positions of a page with 3 random resources of previous pages.

I see what was wrong with the ratings system. Making a map disapeer based on ratings, is IMO a terrible system. However, that does not mean that I think there should be no ratings system. This is just on the spot here, so it probably won't be used, but just stirring up innovation here.

How about you don't even total up the votes at all, but just make a little star (1-5) display above people's comments? What I mean is in the main map box don't display any rating at all, but above the actual comments. That way, people would have to say why it sucked. Also, people would have to read through and mentally total them, which I think would lead to less instanly writing off maps.

Just my 2 cents.

Actually, i don't have a problem with rating system, vex's idea would be a good one. People will download resource not based on its rating, but based on what he needs. Eventhough it is an old resource, it will be downloaded if it's likely what he needs.

Actually, people will decide a resource good or not at first sight, based on its rating, download counter, Director Choice, several comments below, and screenshot. So, losing just one aspect wouldn't be a problem.
