Hello, I have googled for about an accumulative of an hour now between the last two days, and cannot find a solution to this problem.

I am importing models for my map I am making, most of them worked... About two years ago when I imported them, I still have all the ones I didn't import, and I wanted to do so. But I constantly get the annoying black and green box where the model should be. This also happened to a model I had in there already, but it just turned into the box itself too.

I have also tried downloading new models, and those give the same effect whenever I try to import and apply them to a unit.

So uh... anyone have an answer or two? That would be much appreciated.

(Also, your old site had a lot of Starcraft models, where did they go? =/)

Edit- I uh, started the game ignoring the fact it said the model wasn't there. And it shows up in game. But it still shows up as the box in the map editor. No biggie, just kinda annoying =x.

My model appears as a big green checkered cube and the world editor says it can't open the file when the map loads. Please Help!

This usually happens when you haven't enter the correct model path. Try to enter the model path and save, exit, and re-open your map.

Yea, I did that =x. I mean like I said they show up fine in game, just not in the editor. Some of the models still show up as the checkered box.

I found an error in that tutorial. Closing the map and re-opening will not work. You have to exit and start World Editor itself and only afterwards open your map.

If the above doesn't work, you should repeat all the steps and check for any errors you might have commited.

If you just save the map without using the model/icon/whatever, then use the icon/model/whatever afterwards, it will work.

However, as soon as you look at the model/icon/whatever (before saving, or if you imported the textures badly and need to update it), you need to reboot the world editor, or you won't be able to see it.

Finishing Up the Import Process:
  1. Ok, once you have got the models imported into the editor with the skins and (possibly the portrait) and the custom paths are set, you might think you are finished, but not yet. This is very important: the world editor still doesn't recognize your models; you must exit and re-open your world editor. Not just the map, but the whole editor.
  2. Re-open your map and assign your model to your unit. You can do this by opening the unit editor, then going down to their model file. Select that part and scroll down to the Imported section to change your model.
Common Issues and Questions with Importing Models:

PurgeandFire's instructions seem clear to me.
