Sorry.. ignore this post. I think the tutorials should mention that you not only have to close and re-open the map, but also the world editor because i just wasted an hour, when thats all i had to do...

Ok, i followed the tutorials here and here.

http://world-editor-tutorials.thehelper.net/skinning.php#importing

I saved the file in .blp, imported it in the editor, and changed the custom path. Then, when I go to place the unit, nothing is different. I saved the map, closed it, and reopened it as well. It's like nothing I'm doing is making any different at all... What is wrong?

Archian's tutorial: How to: Import a Skin has until now read:
After a skin has been imported it will be invisible. To check if World Editor can display the skin you can either close the map and open it again or you can
click File -> Preferences -> Video -> Change detail of models and textures. Changing the detail will force Warcraft to reload all the models and textures.
I have edited the tutorial so that it now reads:
After a skin has been imported it will be invisible. To check if World Editor can display the skin you can either close the map (and W.E.) then open it again, or you can
click File -> Preferences -> Video -> Change detail of models and textures. Changing the detail will force Warcraft to reload all the models and textures.
Note: Archian himself must confirm this change.
