i made a hero ability off of pulverize and when you go to learn the ability it's green. is there anyway i can use that icon and when i go to learn it it's not green?? and could anyone do it?

Check the path to DISBTN of imported ability icon.

go to object editor->your ability->set the "art-icon-research" to whatever you want

idk if you guys understand what i'm saying... there is no other version of the icon that has shadowing or what ever when your trying to learn the ability because the icon was originally for a unit icon which couldn't be learned

You can set icon as scorpion182 wrote for any hero ability.
If you need a shadowed version of icon, you can modify create by Button Manager.
