noobish question, how do i make an ability not show its icon when a trigger teaches it an ability, by no icon i mean not there (not jsut invisible)

Probably confirm the button Item Ability, I think it won't show then. There are some buttons which can be hidden without doing so. Attribute Bonus is one of them.

i have it set to item ability - true and hero ability - false but it's still there 
btw the spell is based off permanent immolation, would that be a problem?
