im working on my rpg and im not even halfway done and im nearly out of ideas so i need new quests and areas to make. Terrain is nearly done but i am in desperate need of quests. if i like what you suggest i will give you credit for your idea(s) if i decide to use them. and thank you.

Note: before you think the terrain isnt worth your ideas, im going to touch it up once im done since while im designing it i dont want to have to make fancy terrain since i have a bad memory and fancy terrain takes a lot more time then thrown together areas for editing

Well I could help you but whats your rpg about? Is it like old times where castles and archers were still popular? Or is it more recent like world war 2 or any other war? It would help if you would include these things so that we can better help you out with your problems..

The story is just that people have noticed that the forest animals have begun getting more intelligent and are being corrupted and changed which is more visible the further out of civilization you go, so some heros come and the people decide to send them out to see whats going on and then it turns out that a demon and his son are trying to take over the world by corrupting the minds of everything, working their way towards civiliation to control everything. im also thinking about having a large periodic timer to add bits of blight to show the corruption, do you think thats a good or bad idea?

I can give ideas for the quest part...

Overtaken Villlage
A village nearby the forest has been overthrown by some forest creatures! The king has asked help from your king and now your king has bestowed you with the quest. It will get you a plentuful bounty if you choose to take it!
Evil Fort
Some of the animals have started making a small fort infront of your castle. Destroy their fort and make sure you make a post there so no one else will come back!
Demon Overdrive
That demon is now taking over the trees and the rest of the forest! You must venture into the forest and stop the demon. If you fail then all hope of survival of your kingdom is doomed. The demon will overthrow with minions, and after your castle is done for, the rest of the world will be overthrown.

Heres an idea and a half why stop with that one demon overtaking the forest? Why don't you make other demons all around the world that you must stop? That or make a series of rpgs.

The problem
Your king thinks that the demon has something in special for the kingdom. He thinks that the demon is going to do a head on strike followed by tons of small strikes. Your mission, is to look for the demon, find what hes going to do, then kill most the demons so the kingdom will be able to take over the rest.

A 'healing' mission where you must use peasants to cut down blighted trees, priests to dispel blight, and some special item that will regrow the trees after the evil ones and the blight are gone, maybe?

If you're not using the trees as anything more than "eye candy" to make an area look like a forest/jungle, I suggest you make the "treeline" as thin as possible by putting in only what the players will actually see during the game and filling in the space behind it with nothingness. Other than that, try to use less rocks if need be.

For the Quests, there's several basic types you could do that are fairly easy to program.
  • Killing - Kill X many of Y monster(s)
  • Gathering - Gather X many of Y item(s)
  • Rescue - Rescue X unit(s) from Y location(s)
  • Escort - Escort X unit(s) to Y location(s)
  • Survive - Defend X location(s) or unit(s) for Y seconds/minutes
  • Quiz - Answer X question(s)
  • Bonus - Attain X level, item(s), skill(s), etc
Another type of Quest is "Event". These quests require the most programming and creativity. Here's some examples.
  • Arena - Defeat X waves/rounds of enemies
  • Battlefield/Hero Siege - Defeat X location while defending Y location
You can have miniature quests as part of this quests, such as quests to recruit more units or gather materials to build a siege engine etc
  • Archeology/Treasure Hunt - Anywhere from find X item, defeat X enemy, read X tablet, to prevent X portal from activating.
This can basically become a miniature storyline, because you deal with something from the past that is effecting the present. Great thing is, this event doesn't have to effect the primary storyline at all... but can if you want it to.
  • Build - Help construct city/town/fortification/camp
The purpose for building can relate to other event type quests.

The other important thing when doing a quest is to decide what reward is associated with it. You can have as many of the same type of quest you want so long as the reward is different/better with each quest. Here's some quest reward ideas.
  • Access to a new area
  • Extra Skill Point
  • Special Item
  • New Ally
  • New Hero
  • New Skill
  • Transportation System Access (like the way points of diablo II, allowing quick access throughout the map)
  • Negative Reward (Hero dies, important quest character dies, stat reduced... this can also be applied for failing quests)

Hope this helps.

Well I'm good with heros...If you just want it deleted just right click it and look for delete unit...

Anyways I got another idea reading your heros...Why don't you make multipul kingdoms with multipul problems.. Each character can be assigned a kingdom and could have different problems, terrian, everything..Yes this is alot of work but the more work you put into your game the more people will like it....

true but im not sure if theres enough space left for more kingdoms, id have to make more maps with the same load codes like Ragos

and as long as im on the subject of save/load code systems, i need one, and not Neostorms, it never works for me, and ive tried to use it several times
