How to Detect if a Hero is Still Casting an Ability

Vexorian does it all the time, and I'm just curious as to how it's done. It has to be multi-instancable, not just some Boolean Statement (done it ). Thanks in advance for the help,

Couple Guesses:
1) (current order)
2) Two triggers: one that adds the unit to a unit group when it starts casting and one that removes it from the group when it stops.
