You should consider contacting Microsoft support about this as Windows 7 is still covered by their on going support.

All I can recommend is reinstalling the operating system, install all windows updates and downloading the latest Nvidia driver compatible with that graphic card (OEM cards not compatible with standard driver mostly).

On a side note the crashes with explorer can be related to your hard disk being unreliable. For some reason explorer will hang if there is considerable I/O difficulties with the target folder path and will eventually crash. However you will need to consult experts (not on this site) to confirm if this is a problem.

microsoft dont provide free support so if i want support from them it will cost me. i dont have the installation cd for the system so i cant reinstall it. explorer seem to crash when i have left it alone for a while and start using it again. i cant update the graphics drivers either because nvidia removed the backwards compatibility from their drivers so updating them would prevent older games from working.

We cannot help you unless you are using the latest stable release of graphic drivers for your graphic card. Any problem with backwards compatibility you should report to NVidia but for both security and stability reasons you should only ever use the latest stable driver.

No backwards compatibility for GTX600 series card, you say? So they dont support their most up to date GPU architectures, you want to say that?

Oh oh I know. Try to dual-install at least two (but the more the merrier) different versions of the graphics drivers. That must help with the backwards compatibility issues.

On a less ridiculous note, Nvidia still offers updated drivers back to about GeForce 6xxx series. Where do you get all this terrible information you keep posting in every one of your threads?
I mean, you are obviously not using any search engine to save your life, so where does it come from? your imagination?

Please, just format your computer and reinstall the OS (and not to Home Edition), then don't mess it up with nonsense. That should fix all of your issues posted also in the other threads.

Installing Intel IGP and amd Graphics drivers might help as well, just in case if hackers made that GTX into an R9/IGP Hybrid.

modern nvidia drivers only support modern games. i had a gtx 550 ti earlier and when i updated the drivers for it impossible creatures and other older 3d games wouldnt run. i then rolled back the drivers and then they worked again. that is what i mean with nvidia removing backwards compatibility. i cant reinstall windows because i dont have the cd.

Then buy the OS CD, reinstall it and stop posting a topic every time you bump into some malware you picked up who knows where.

According to Wikipedia it is quite a modern game. It was released a massive year or so after Age of Mythology. So you are saying my driver, version 335.23 cannot play age of mythology? Hmmm...

Well lets see.
1. Locate this ancient game.
2. Click on executable.
3. Get to main menu.
4. Exit game.
5. Tell you that you are talking a big load of nonsense.

Age of Mythology, an even older 3D game, works perfectly with the most recent Nvidia display driver version. I am even using a 760GTX, an even newer card than yours (I think).

Once again, I will repeat what we have all been telling you.
1. Reinstall OS or install a newer version of the OS (like Windows 8).
2. Update OS fully.
3. Install latest version of display drivers.

If the problem still persists it is hardware related in which case buy a new PC.

the game i had problem with and the game you tested were made by different developers.
Does not mater, we still will not help you until you update your drivers. If the drivers are still causing compatibility problems with some older games, I advise contacting NVidia on their message boards and informing them about it. It might be a bug they are not aware of. There might also be alternative solutions that do not require compromising your system with out dated drivers.

most likely. the only thing i tried that worked was to roll back the drivers. i installed new drivers today and it still works but i am running a modded version and the version i had trouble with was the unmodded version. i change the resolution to full HD and explorer havent crashed since so could the problem be related to the 1600x900 resolution.
