[General] Hiding a unit?

I'm making a map that's supposed to have a final boss appear at the very end. I want to hide him until he's good and ready to show up. How can I make it so the unit doesn't show up on the map initially but after a certain trigger is activated becomes visible and can be fought?

There is literally a trigger action called "Unit - Hide unit". :p
Store your boss in a unit variable, hide it. Then unhide it when you need it to be shown.

I tried that but the unit is still there, completely unhidden. I think "hide unit" is just to keep the unit from getting tagged in certain triggers.

EDIT: Oh my, it works when I use it on the unit instead of the variable it's stored in. I think something went wrong with the variable.

EDIT: I've gotten it working and now I feel absolutely silly. Thanks!
