My friends and I are working on a WC3 mod, where we're going for a science fiction style, rather than Warcraft style appearance. We really like the general overall effect of the Starfall spell, but wish to strip it of the mystical significance (To be specific, the moon that appears above your head as you cast it, and the runes that circle about). We loaded the spell skin up in WC3 Viewer, and were able to determine that it was meshes 3 (The moon) and 6 (the runes) that were doing what we didn't want, and after some deliberation, we decided that the easiest method of achieving the desired effect, appeared to be to simply run the spell without the meshes in question.
Unfortunately, we don't know how to do that. So we want to know how (If it's possible) to change that... and for future reference, how one goes about skinning a spell in the first place (For a totally original skin), as a lot of the spells in the game have the desired effects we need, but not the proper appearance.
Thank you in advance for any answers to this semi-technical, obviously inexperienced, and rather long-winded question.
PS. Would there be anybody who'd actually have an interest in helping us skin spells to reflect a slightly more technological appearance, and thereby save the world from the terrors of having to put up with second rate spell skins?
