think he means 2x sight range.. there is a ability in the game allready for this called Ultravision, but for the it make the unit see as far as they do on the day. So if u only have night in ur map make the day sight 2x the night sight.

@ -BerZeKeR- flashlight dont make u invisible :>

I believe there is no action for such a thing. Ultravision is hard-coded to set the Radius of Sight during the night to the value of the sight during the day.
Goblin Night Scope also relies on Ultravision. So this is impossible to achieve I believe. You can replace units, but it takes some work.

just had an idea how to get what you want!!! will also work in gui i guess

whenever the hero gets the skill/ picks up the item ect ... you create a dummy unit that belongs to the heros owner has no model but the desired range of sight. af course you have to make sure it always stays on top of your hero ect ect...

not superclean but will work

well that kinda how i said it... but no dummy unit which get moved by a timer... just set the day sight to what u want and a small trigger, when it pick up the flash light add upgrade ultravision to the player with the flashlight and when he drops it remove the upgrade(dunno if removing is possible) if not possible make it undropable. this is the best and simplest way to do it

p.s this shouldnt work on the day like who use a flashlight on the day? :>

The best? *cought* It's the worst solution ever. You have to make entire map switch to night and much stuff (sounds, lightning, mechanics other abilities) have to change just because you want other sight range. Oh and it will change sight range of all other units to night ones too. Great job. Oh and you can't remove an upgrade. Really sad method.

Dummy unit with expiration timer is the most optimal solution adn is easy to implement and doesn't change things it doesn't have to.
