The Wheel of Time series is very good, if massive (10/12 of the books have been released so far), anything by Garth Nix, I'm reading the Earthsea Quartet for the second time at the moment. Maus is a very good graphic novel, although it can be a bit depressing, as it is a true story set during the Holocaust. I'll think of some other stuff later.

I second 12 of the 13 books for the Wheel of Time. Personally I think the first one is extermely boring and it is very hard for first time readers to finish it, but if ou can the rest of the series opens up and is much much better.

Also the series called " A Song of Fire and Ice" by George RR Martin is excellent in my opinion, I think you would like it Dan.

yes i have heard of wheel of time, i didnt like the name much, reminded me of wheel of fortune. but of course i wont judge a book by its cover (duh!) and i will check it out if i can, i will also check out the fire and ice one.

also something i thought was quite funny, i tried reading a tale of two cities because i heard it was very good. well im sure it is, but for me its rubbish! i dont understand a single word of it because its written in old charles dickens style english. my fault for getting it from the libray without reading more than the blurb, never mind tho.

It is a good classical book, but just remember it is not in the vernacular and you need to keep in mind the time it was written in.

The reason why I think you will like Martin is because it is a political fantasy, it is very subtle and broad in scope.

Well if you want a fantasy genre. . .

I would recommend several bookd by Terry Brooks:

In chronological order:

1)The Sword of Shannara
2)The Elfstones of Shannara
3)The Wishong of Shannara

Elfstones is my favorite, then probaby Sword.

Some of his later stuff is boring and not as good. =P

well i quite like those triller type books like the da vinci code and angels and demons because i like the mystery and stuff. i also like the science and history (although i realise most of it is false) that is behind it, real places and times as if it could be real. i dunno what you would call the genre but its not really fantasy because it has real time and events. any books about science or history that are fun are good too. one of my favourite books is a short history of nearly everything which is fantastic, its intresting, true and funny, never boring you to death either. so i doubt i will get those fantasy books, but i might give them a try.

Game of Thrones
Clash of Kings (action starts picking up)
Storm of Swords
(Forgot the titile but it is the red one)

I also like Terry Brooks' Magick Kingdom for Sale series.

There is another series by Feist I liked which started with Magician: Aprentince that I read back when I was your age.

I read his Floating Dragon and was not all too impressed with it. Pug is awesome tho, no where near as powerful as some other mages I know of but it is cool how he learned the magick from two worlds.

"The Da Vinci Code" is a good one ;)
There's also Tolkien's "The Lord of the Ring's"
Or perhaps "Harry Potter" :p
"The Golems' Eye"

These books are an 'exciting read'.

They are all really great books, and the golems eye is really great. It was written by Jonathon Stroud and it is the second in a trilogy. the first being "The Amulet Of Samarkand" and the third being "Ptolemys Gate" check them out.

The Bartimaeus Trilogy is very good, though I haven't finished the 3rd book yet. Artemis Fowl is a good series of books. I've also been making my way steadily through the R.A Salvatore Forgotten Realms books - The Dark Elf Trilogy, the Icewind Dale trilogy and I'm about to get the Legacy of the Drow =)
