Story

The Humans of the Empire, who fought the Demon invaders for years, after the end of the so called Voidwar, now face a new strong invasion force. New ships have arrived from the other side of the Great Sea and the Humans prepare to defend themselves against the incoming invasion.
Command General Blen Greymoore, one of the best generals of the Empire, and his allies and face the new Demon Invasion. Defend the kingdoms and defeat the ruthless and merciless Legions.

Campaign Series Info

The Legends of Arkain is a campaign series which takes place on the world Arkain.
The races of Arkain fight against the demon invaders, who try once again to enslave every being on Arkain. The Humans, the Orcs and the Undead will have to make a stand against them... or face complete annihilation or enslavement by the Demons.
This campaign series will consist of actually three different series. There will be a Human, an Orc and an Undead campaign series. They will all run in the same timeline but will present three different stories and outcomes. When they are all finished, it's completely up to you, who wins this conflict.
Those, who win the war, will write the history.

Features

- Three different storylines/campaign series
Take control of one of the three factions, the proud Humans of the Empire, the plundering and strong Orc Clans or the mysterious Undead Nexus and their endless army of the dead, and face the demonic invasion as well as other struggles that await you.
- New units
Command units, you already know, as well as completely new units with new upgrades and abilities.
- Decide the fate of Arkain
At some points of the campaigns, you'll have the opportunity to decide things, that affect the storyline, characters and sometimes even the chapters you play or how you have to play them. By doing or, well, not doing certain side quests, you can also affect the campaign.
- Three difficulties
You can play the campaign in either easy, normal oder hard difficulty, just like in the original WC3 campaigns. It will impact on the AI difficulty and scripting as well as other minor changes.
In easy version, for example, the AI won't rebuilt lost buildings.

- Full Jass AI
In this campaign series, every single AI is written in Jass instead of being created with the AI editor. This makes the AI more intelligent.
- Universal Hero hotkeys
All hero abilities use the QWER hotkeys.

Factions

The Human Empire
There have always been Humans on Arkain. The Human kingdoms and their allies, the Elves and Dwarves, have fought the Demons for centuries while also being attacked by orc pillagers. They had no chance against the demons and were already close to annihilation, when the Empire showed up.
They came over the Great Sea in the west and saved the kingdoms, who immediately joined the Empire in return. The Humans still fight the Demons and more and more of them join the fight against their old suppressors.
The Humans already tried to get rid of the Demons for good, but they failed. However, they continue fighting and won't stop until there are no humans or enemies of humanity anymore.
The current Emperor is Theodor the Second.

The Orcish Clans

Legends say that the Orcs hail from another continent and then spread all over the kingdoms. But not even the oldest Orcs can tell, if that's the true or the Orcs have been here all the time, just like the other races.
But it is known that the united clans attacking absolutely everything and everyone they met and conquered a large territory. It did work for a while, but not long. The other races, especially the Demons, who were very angry about that insult, brought the fight to them and massacred half of the green skins.
The Orcs had to retreat and lost much of their territory. The only reason, why half of them are still there, is that their enemies fought among each other as well.
The Orc Clans allied with the Trolls, to increase their strengh, but still didn't manage to gather an army, that was comparable to their old numbers. Since they weren't able to begin their another huge conquest, the clans stopped working together and some old rivalries amongst the clans became important again.
Still, they managed to raid the other races and remain an annoyance for the other factions. There are still many Orcs left, which could prove to be a strong force, if they'd be united under a strong leader.

The Undead Nexus

The Undead are the most mysterious race of Arkain. Of course, necromancers and necrolytes are not unknown and have always summoned some undead servants to do their bidding, but the Undead as a complete race are a mystery to all creatures.
Once, a group of mighty necromancers, who became insane because of their immense power, believed they could rule the world with an army of the Living Dead. However, only days after they began attacking the Human kingdoms, they simply vanished. Their armies were gone and only the remains of the corpses were proof, that they ever existed.
What no mortal and no Demon knows, is, that a powerful Archlich, Aridon the Watcher, self-proclaimed guardian of Arkain, took care of them. He has the ability to take control of every Undead, he wants to control. He uses this power only, to make sure, that besides him is no one, who can form a real army of Undead. He always made the Undead kill their masters and reanimated them as his loyal servants.
The only mighty Undead, not currently living on the Dead Mountain, are guarding old temples and ruins, which contain artifacts, not meant to fall in the hands of neither mortals nor Demons. Still, they all call Aridon their master.
Aridon and his Undead live on the so called Dead Mountain, which lies within the Human kingdoms. Every sent expedition on this mountain never returned, so the Humans decided to simply ignore it and built a garrison to watch over the only entrance to the mountain.
Aridon claims to be as old as the world itself and has seen the rise and fall of races and nations. His goal is to maintain the balance of the world - or at least, what he sees as balance. He stayed out of every conflict and only watched for millenia.
But recent events force Aridon to end his idleness and take action himself instead of only manipulating others. He'll have to make the world know about the Undead - and give reason to fear them.

The Demon Legions

If there are any creatures besides the Undead Lord Aridon, who are as old as Arkain itself, than it must be the Demons. These creatures have been the bane of Arkain for a long, long time. If their history contains anything else than attacking and enslaving other races, than only the Demons know about it.
Every Demon Legion is lead by its most powerful Dreadlord. Who is the one, who commands all Legions, is unknown to every non-demon.
The Demons' realm lies in the East of the continent and is seperated by a bottomless rift, the so called Void. No one, except for Demons and their slaves, has ever been on the other side of the Void. The Void is so heavy fortified by the Demons, that they managed to block every attack there. The Void is also the place where the Imperial Army was defeated during their Great Attack.
Now, the Demons seem to begin another great offensive against the other races. And this time, they are determined to be victorious and won't show any mercy.

5/5 because of the quality and +1 for the injustice and unfairness that dipshit shadow shaman brought.
Also noticed a bug on chapter 1 whereas the screen locks if you skip cinematic (forgot which ones though)

Lost interest in this campaign during the first chapter. A bitter disappointment.
Your bitter disappointment on this map or your jealousy compared to your own achievements?
10 years of making a map and it doesn't get approved into hive?
And you assume you have the right to downvote others?
Are you kidding me? What you meant is 1 hour per year times 10 year. That's barely an effort.
Otherwise you've admitted that you're the most pathetic mapmaker in this community.
Instead of shitting your toxic waste everywhere why won't you be humble and nice and learn from others you asshole.
If you were nice people would help you improve.

I've reported you three times on three different occasions already so that you get banned and shit your "bitter disappointment" somewhere else.
If you don't like Legend of Arkain then don't play it. If you think it's lacking then help it improve if you have the time. If you don't at least give feedback. If you do people will surely have more respect for you.
But what you did was unfair and cowardly. Shar Dundred owes you nothing, he did this project not to please you, he made this for all of us, and he does not deserve that 1 star you gave him.
You don't belong here, no one here wants you, as you're only here to down vote everything you dislike, we're going to treat you as disrespectful as we like.

And Daffa sorry about this post, that dipshit deserves this.

This one (campaign) is especially for those who like armies and choices.

Some things to look at:
-the Crossbowman model can be confused with the Footman's at times
-put unit ability descriptions in their upgrade descriptions
-Peasants and Workers don't take food slots (it may be a gameplay thing though as it may server in later levels)
-unit spells need to be configured as "qerty" like for heroes
-Blen's healing spell is worse than the Paladin's: the hit points it heals are the same but it does not have an instant effect, it takes more mana and even has a higher cooldown
-there needs to be more dedication on how the terrain should look. It's rather flat or has few doodads

prologue:
-at the end, cinematic mode goes off right before the next level starts. This happens in many levels and hero icons may be seen

chap1:
-loading screen: through not throuth
-my troops were fighting the Trolls and the purple orc base and suddenly cinematic mode popped up and the fighting units were not paused
-way too much gold in the enemy gold mines which becomes a great advantage for the player (this may be useful in later levels though)
-you can see the Firemaster's icon before the cinematic event with him begins

chap3:
-Shield of Honor is useless at times (useful in some levels if the hero happens to have it on). Does not stack with Command Aura from the General. So is the item that gives Brilliance Aura found by the Firemaster when Aedale is saved

chap4:
-it didn't feel like there were that many demons as they said there were
-what was there to report to the elven queen if Aron was dead? There was no one left to help unless Bloodclaw said something in the favour of the elves

chap5:
-Gardon's base is that of an elf but has human troops

interlude after chap5:
-during full enemy assault inexperienced wizards will learn demonology and other arts? They're that good and fast, huh?

chap6:
-Day Time in this level should be removed because it's a cavern, so the far of view should remain the same during the whole level unless there are lightened places
-the Lich almost died but he lets the player's troops leave alive? Right.

chap7:
-ships are not mentioned in the unit upgrades (Blacksmith) description

I have to write that this campaign is worth it for any Warcraft fan (not from the story perspective but gameplaywise).

Hi there!

This campaign is great! I've rarely seen this much love put into making mods, maps or anything alike in any game. It's really fun to play.
However, I just played chapter 7, but I couldn't complete this mission. Here's what happened:
I did not build the battleships right away. Instead I focused on frigates and destroyed the shipyards with them. After that, I killed the Orcs guarding those two gold mines a bit to the east and started mining them and then I landed on the island in the north and destroyed the entire orc base to get rid of all the attacks from there.
Meanwhile I built some Arcane Towers to scout the map and discovered the gold mine in the east. I cleared a path through the forest, killed the few orcs on the other side and started building an entire base in the east.
And only then I built the battleships...
The orc base, that was supposed to pop out in the east was destroyed entirely by my units and towers in the short period the cinematic ran. The quest triggers didn't work anymore and so I couldn't finish this mission.
Maybe that can be fixed somehow.

I have been wondering something, for the last chapter, why I can't build Gryphon Aviary? And why I can't train unit Conjurer, Pegasi(Pegasus), Rifleman(I think you must have been replace him with Crossbowman, right?) and Captain?

There's still a lot of stuffs were missing, for me. But I love the campaign.

Could someone Post the BAD Choices, the GOOD ones and the CANNON Ones? (Only those that affect the storyline)

How would our choices carry over to the other Races and the Second Books?

I played the Human Campaign Twice:
-Bad Run, but Aedale still becomes a Demon Mage
-Good Run and Aedale doesn't use Demon Magic

In Chapter 9 Betrayal: Red is Useless!

If Red is a bunch of Demons under Aedale ALL SHE DOES IS ATTACK CREEPS! Her base doesn't get attack either!

If Red is just the Imperial Army, THEY DO NOTHING!!!

Trying to Replay the Other First Books with GOOD (Somewhat Canon) Choices as well!

The canon choices were stripped away when people thought that's the choice THEY MUST CHOOSE, as per Shar Dundred's statement.

This story has no explicit canon choice. However, I would hint you that your first run having Aedale corrupted seems quite correct as per original canon, which now irrelevant. Aedale is meant to be corrupted in the original canon.

I see (unless my memory mistaken) Aedale as Demonologist attacks Genethas base (as I sided with Gardon on my play through) on Betrayal. I haven't tried on Gardon's case though, but I'm sure it's just almost the same.

One of the best campings that I have play. The sereis is amzing work, great job, I must say Im impresive with the size of the conflitcs.I mean....the campings work with MUCH MORE units the rest of campings I played. In fact, even the warcraft campings look like children play in numberns if comparete with this campings. Also, I impressive with the stragey of the campings,

I dint get the red forces on the last mission too .I Have made the decession to dont let Aedale to use the demonics objects, was for sure, a bad decession to make in the long of war.

5/5 for sure.

Firstly , I would like to thank shar and everyone that has helped in creating this amazing campaign , I know it may seem like nothing but I really do appreciate
you creating this amazing piece of art and sharing it with us , I have recommended your work to all my warcraft buddies in my university . Secondly , I wish you all the best in your careers , I know it is tough to delve and donate time and effort to create those astounding campaigns whilst creating your own path in life . Finally , if you ever decide to continue and resume your masterpiece , that would be stupendous and if you don't know that there will always be someone who truly is thankful for your hard work , wish you all the best .
It is never a good day when the catalans win .

If I'm reading the notes right.

Does this mean the final level you actually get to use Demonologist Aedale / Salana / Garland and actually have a finality feeling to the level.

Correct me if I'm wrong Shar

The final map is more like an AoS now.
Basicly, you're now controlling the same heroes as before but instead of building up your base, you're supporting your allies' attacks with your heroes while also being responsible for your allies' equipment.
You get gold for killing enemy units which you can then spend to upgrade your allied forces, to buy some minor items and to revive your fallen heroes.

Blows I literally just finished my first playthrough. Guhh

Updating the others I assume? Don't even want to touch Undead now.

Whew, that poll. Nearest person to Gardon is 22 votes away.

#GardonIzBest.

Kinda disheartened to see there will be 'canon' choices that we will be stuck with in the next book. I rather hoped our choices would carry over, but I understand that would increase your workload by a massive amount. The new last mission sounds neat, will have to replay to see what it is like.

Keep up the great work. ^.^

-Taps mike- Is this thing on--

Oh, yes hello again I've got some news for you folks from my own playthrough. I'd advise all of you to stay away from our friendly
firelord
in chapter 11 and his friends in the center as a crash to desktop has occurred.

Keep the demons at bay, soldiers.

-Cursing is heard as someone trips.-

The crashing issue reported by Kasrkin has been fixed by fixing the Mass Soul Burn ability of the Firelord.

whoa,nice cumback,Shar
some words on the Second Book
your Second Human Book Beta is awesome so far, hope you can really continue on
playing as Gardon is nice, but I wonder if we can see Blen again or gain access to Van Durce Golden Army
and anyway, don't you think Gardon's model is a little bit "small" compared to Blen and other "paladin-like" generals?
and if you can get Gardon on his mount form that would be nice

I Haven't finished the campaign yet, but the storyline is really good and so is the gameplay, the missions can take sometime, which is fine. A small issue is that in a few of the missions you are hopelessly outnumbered to the point the mission gets bogged down, I'm particularly talking about Green Wave and the elf mission where you can hire some aid although I think another hire would have been great. The only problem I have is that it seems like the enemy is able to build much faster then you and will constantly rebuild their structures immediatley, which takes out harrassing the enemy and slowly taking down portions of their base, which is a tactic I generally use. Instead its all or nothing and if you fail its really hard to come back from

Both those missions have been *nerfed* The elf mission is indeed hard sinc you have nothing powerfull enough to tank or dps the Infernals but you can always try and attack with your ally(which i would highly suggest to be Gardon) I remember i broke their basses with the help of Spell-breakers and Priests to boost up my unites.

As for Green wave...There is a simple yet effective strategy to beat it....You just spam steam tanks and gryphon riders and go and attack the red base.Build your new primary base in the red's location from now on your elfish allies will take the punishment from orc which means you are free to only focus on the offense...I would suggest that after you are done with red you go and attack Blue>Purple>Yellow>Dark Green. Oh there is a small path into the Red Orc base from their east that it is not that heavy guarded...Send your unites there and wait for the Elfs to attack the red base and then make your move.

Oh sinc this type of AI is different from that of blizzard i would suggest once you have killed the defending troops to rush down the main town hall and kill all workers else they will just re-build.
