Entangling Roots cancel orders

i tried to use an entangling roots spell in my td but after i casted it on a unit and the unit survived the unit had no more orders. so it just stops running and thats very stupid in a td.

so why do roots cancel the order of a unit and stun or sleep not and is it possible that roots dont cancel the order or to restore the units order and reorder it after the root time?

Pause the unit, and put a roots anim on it
