Map Info


Enfo's Team Survival: FFB Edition is a Hero Defense type map that features two teams trying to defend themselves from a series of progressively harder creepwaves, while at the same time trying to defeat the enemy team by using support spells from each player's Spellbringers.

Heroes


Enfo's TS: FFB Edition features over 30 unique heroes, each with 5 custom spells: 1 innate and 4 learnable hero spells, most of which are heavily coded in vJass. There are 3 main categories that each heroes fall into, and you need at least one of each if you hope to survive long—it is a team survival after all, and you won't get far on your own. These roles are the standard: Tank, Damage Dealer, and Support roles. However, while the roles each hero plays are standard, the way each hero fulfills these roles are from it; every hero's unique skillset allows them to fulfill each role very differently.


Some other stuff about map
Unlike any other Enfo map you've encountered, our version features a projectile system. This means all projectile spells and attacks can be modified in mid-air, and they can't collide with creeps, walls, etc. If you shoot a straight forward going spell on a target in the middle of a crowd, it won't go past the first units there to reach the target. It will collide with the first one in its path instead. This also means there are spells that remove a spell that you shot towards an enemy before it actually reaches its target.
Our version features bosses and commanders. A Commander comes with every wave, and usually have either some global affect or aura; or they do a lot of damage. An example can be Fanrae commander. He keeps all Fanraes permanent invisible while he's alive - so even when they're attacking, they can't be seen through normal means. Bosses are harder than commanders, and will show up at certain events in the map. You will know once you see one.

An anti mass unit lag measure has been implemented; enemy creeps ignore unit collision until they acquire an enemy.

Many, many many balance changes, bug fixes, better icons, better special effects.
Wave 8 commander changed - it is now a ranged unit, but instead of attacking, it shoots webs that you have to dodge. He also can trap you with eggsacks, which spawn Giant Spiders when killed. And when the commander himself is slain, he will spawn 20 mini spiders, who have a stackable slow poison attack.
Tempest's ultimate has been buffed significantly—it now possesses 1/4 of the cd.
Entropist's ultimate has also been buffed significantly—it bounces 5 times as much, and the middle boulder now has friction.
Fragarach is nerfed; it now restores .05% of your maximum mana per attack.
Fleshless Horror, Tauren Warrior, and Enforcer had their strength gain reduced from 4.5 to 3.0 per level.
Predator's base attack speed has been nerfed(He attacks slower now).
Empath's Regeneration has been buffed at early levels, to match the degeneration on Transference.
Devastate had its cooldown increased.
Bloodfiend has been buffed significantly.
Archdruid's summons should now all have damage and health adjusted properly.
Mentalist now innately possesses a 5 mana/second regeneration.
Added a new command: -suicide. This command will kill your hero after 10 seconds.(Use if you get stuck somewhere.)

Djole, the spider is not bugged. If you had read the Wave Information, you would know that the spider attacks by launching a strand of web at you. If it connects, then you will indeed be thrown around. This is not desirable, so I recommend you dodge the web :). Alternatively, if you are having trouble with it, I suggest you play on an easier difficulty, as the spider will attack slower, and therefore launch less webs at you. Or, if the problem is that you have too many spiders throwing you around to deal with, I suggest you tell red to put -np mode, which will make it easier to play with noob teammates, as they will not make more commanders when they die.

I'd like to suggest that you add in a command to quickly pool gold to teammates, it can be quite a hassle as a tank to have to give money in small amounts while constantly checking hp.

You should add the command to auto-pool % of money or fixed amount.

Because opening F11 to pool take less time than to type a command

That is indeed a good suggestion, I will definetely add that in future versions.

For now though, are you using ctrl+ scroll to pool gold? Pooling gold that way lets me pool the maximum amount of gold possible within 1 second.

Yeah, I have been using CTRL + scrolling to pool gold. While it definitely is faster than CTRL + Clicking, it was still fairly slow when we're talking about pooling like 400k or so during a Boss Rush. Thank you for the confirmation.

i don't know if it's just me but melee dps heroes seem underwhelming cause they can't tank properly or dps cause they die in melee if you don't have tanking gear. and i think that you should implement more intellect items cause the highest one you can find is 152 int. and also, this is the best enfo map i have ever played.
 
Hi, glad you like my map :)

Items for int items are cheap because they should be pooling most of their gold to the tank. Melee dps heroes are harder to play indeed, but they have higher dps than ranged heroes to balance them out. However, Elven Plate Mail is a must on them early game, and a Brutalizer or Dementia's Door mid game helps a lot for survivability.

Of course this bug will be fixed. i need to know what causes this bug in order to fix it,though. Any more details you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Another game...

West Side left, 4 players on East Side stayed.
Bosses/commanders starting from wave 1 spawned as allied units
until after the bonus round,
at which point they returned to spawning as enemy units.

If that may help narrow the bug down, hooray.

Yeah, Arcane Mistress'es strength lies in her Ultimate, which is one of the best ultimates in the game, because it's incredible damage for not that high cooldown. Her frostbite and targeted magic combo also deal a lot of area damage early on, and her shield is the only one that stacks with other shields.

If she could target boss waves with her Frost Scythe it would indeed be overpowered, because you could permanent stun all bosses.

It would be great if you add npcs with item recipes (they do not sell, they are always out of stock, just for display), so we wont have to memorize them or look the recipes in the browser

I didn't play this version yet. The one thing I hate about it is the "recipe" items. Why don't you make like in dota? 3-4 shops with tiered items where you can't buy them but it shows what other items are needed. Constantly looking for what i need and playing "blind" is annoying

Just look in F9 or wiki for recipes.

While I'm looking for recipes I die... Maybe it's easy to you because you know the recipes but it's really annoying for the rest. I always have to scroll down and click and loose a lot of time doing this...

After I died the forth time I stopped playing,and my friend had the same opinion. It probably takes a few minutes to fix the problem and make the game a lot more fun.

Also, I have absolutely no idea what I'm buying. I always had to guess and hope it will be good, very annoying to an otherwise polished map

We've been playing this map for quite a while but would love to see the engineer type of hero at the bottom right (support). Also a couple of balancing patches for overpowered and underpowered heros would be lovely.

Any type of caster with huge aoe abilities, especially tornado guy. The Illidan poison type hero is far too OP with the lvl ability midgame, but is trash endgame. The support tank (druid of the claw dude) is completely useless. Melees without splash/super aoe ability are bad unless Ragnarok is bought.

An easier way to read how to make better quality items ingame would be helpful. At the moment we are pausing the game and trying to remember from this site and the wiki.

Aside from useless/overpowered heros this map is fantastic and awesome to play. Thank you for making this and I really hope you continue to balance/bring new talents or heros to the map. GJ.

I am currently trying to find a way to better item recipes ingame, as I have heard a lot of complaints about that. However I am trying not to clutter the map with too many shops, so am investigating alternatives.

As for balance, could you elaborate more on what you find overpowered/underpowered? The druid of the claw hero's power you'll find is a lot more subtle than most. The slow skill is comparable to the 170 spellbringer mana Saemaus summon, and it's way more spammable. The armor aura is simply amazing for shredding creeps, and synergizes well with his ultimate. And a free cooldown reset ultimate is never bad I find. For tanks without aoe, you'll find that a Brutalizer helps immensely for clearing potential. My conception of balance may be skewed however, so if you can point out what makes a hero underpowered/overpowered I will definitely change it.

Strikest, I truly respect your work and your map. It's the only Enfo's map that's being updated, as far as I know. But I have some complains.

First, the difficulty. I don't know, who said you that the map is easy. It's not. Even on Normal. As a host I can't choose difficulty lower than Normal, and even on Normal people die so fast, even those who play as tank heroes. Especially when those running crossbow gnolls come up, people just starting to get angry and frustrated. I can understand them, they only started to play this map, and they die on 3rd or 4th wave. This makes people don't want play this map again. I just hosted map, started game and after 2-3 mins people are starting to leave. Maybe these people are not good, or maybe this map is difficult. Please, Strikest, make this map a little bit friendly to people, if you can and if you want of course. A good example is map Enfo's MT Edition. People can play it till wave 20 or 30 without frustration and rage quits. In my opinion, map should be more wide oriented. Not only good for hardcore players, but to all players. This way map will be more popular and more fun to play. But if you made this map so hard and only for pro players on purpose, then it's your way and your decision and I won't say anything. I just thought that this map is for everyone, that everyone can play it without head pain.

Second, if make this map more easier on normal is not possible, can you please give the host ability to choose difficulty like Easy and Very Easy.

Third, there are so few of support heroes. I hope it will be more heroes in each section (Combat, Support, Range, Casters), with time of course.

But first of all, I hope that you will make the surviving a little bit easier for us common players. This map is good in my opinion and the longer you work on it, the better it will be, I'm sure.

If you have trouble with the bosses and such, I highly recommend reading the wave tips that show up every round. They tell you what abilities the upcoming boss will have, and you can develop a strategy around it. For example, on the crossbow gnoll, the wave tip is that the upcoming commander will have berserk and backstab, meaning if you run you will most likely die, since you can't outrun it, and it will deal double damage to you if you run. Therefore you should run to it and fight it outright; its damage is very high, but it has low defense; you can easily kill it with just a few potions.

But I will take your suggestion to heart, and I will most likely add the ability for hosts to choose Easy difficulty in upcoming versions.

Have to commend you on making a great map, I've enjoyed playing this map on ENT battle.net hosting. Takes quite a while to get 3v3 games though.

Bug: I've noticed empath might be bugged? Her armor boosting aura doesn't seem to be working. Also, her skill which causes enemy heroes to be put to sleep doesn't seem to be working too (not sure if I misread how the skill works)

Comments:
Gnoll boss - I agree that the gnoll boss at wave 2 isn't noob friendly. I understand people need to develop a strategy around dealing with bosses. But I feel the learning curve may be a little too steep for new players with regards to the gnoll boss. At wave 2, people normally would have bought 2 sets of healing potions (4), which might be insufficient for new players who pick non-str based characters to tank/kill. Compared to other bosses in the first 5 waves, this boss is considerably more challenging, its always almost certain that new players die to it. Whats worse is that after they die to the gnoll boss, their respawn timing coincides with the gnoll boss reaching the circle and kill them again, so they die twice in a first few minutes of the game which is very discouraging and makes them leave or lose interest in the game.

Wave Tips - I guess in line with what was said, might be more noob-friendly if wave tips could also include suggested strategies for handling each wave boss (e.g. kill his minions first then focus on him, stun him because tanking him isn't effective due to his lifesteal, use spells to kill him due to his high evasion, buy wards from the potion shop to see invisible units, etc).

Item tips - It might be useful to give item tips for new players so they know what to buy. I'm not sure whether this can be coded to be hero specific or hero-type specific. Notice many players spending really long figuring out what to buy. Encouraging people to buy shields allows new player to survive much of the early game which sustains interest in the game and interest to try again. Or blink boots/shroud for melee heroes.

Item shop - I think one major change that would make the game more noob friendly and popular would to have shops done up DOTA-style with recipes written (I know this is a huge change from original enfos versions, but with the whole lot of new items unique to enfos ffb, it becomes clearer what to buy). I've once told a new player that I check my item information/recipes online at enfosffb wiki and he went 'WTF, are you serious? So I need to alt-tab out while in-game?" (The recipe list in F9, doesn't give the item stats so you have no idea what you are buying, and its not well organized/categorized like Venus)

Shopping in combat - The new shop at the circle to shop while in combat is awesome, but it requires players to save up large sums of money to buy an mid/end-game item. I'm just wondering if having a courier DOTA-style would be helpful as it allows players to gradually buy constituent items rather than a final item at one go. It also helps a player to convert gold to lumber more easily. By the later waves, you're getting so much gold, but you have almost no chance to convert it to lumber without leaving the lane. I understand that people can pool support heroes to shop for them, but in public games, this rarely happens.

Thus, combining the previous 2 comments, perhaps make the current recipe shop (2nd shop from left) into a venus-style recipe shop where people can browse the recipes for the different types of equipment. Alternatively, just make really small shops for each of the different types of equipment recipes. not sure how you want to categorize them, maybe like how Venus does combined with DOTA-style. In the recipes, it would be good to tell them which shop/price to buy the constituent parts (e.g. titan shield 75000 *item stats* - small shield (5000 - armor merchant), kite shield (10000 - armor merchant, tower shield (15000 - armor merchant), bloodstone (45000 - ring merchant))

Hi Patrick, thanks for the feedback.

I will see about adding components to the item descriptions in Venus. However I don't think I will be moving Venus to the side shop, simply because I might eventually add more purchases to that shop.

As for a courier, it doesn't really encourage teamwork, so I'm iffy on that. Maybe if you are the only person on your team.

The waves tips could be better I guess, but right now they tell you what every wave boss does. I think it's up to the player to develop strategies to counter what the bosses have, not have the game spoon feed strategies to you.

The gnoll received a big nerf, it reduces 5 armor on attack now instead of 10. Should help people tank the gnoll at level 1, considering that you focus it.

Id like to tell you about some bags.
1. I found the courier :D
2. I can restore mana to my spellbringer.
3. I can up mana to my spellbringer.
4. I can kill enother team by my hero.
5. Fleshless Horror creates too much lags.

1) Courier is your spelbringer. Venus can сhange target to your spellbringer and sell him Daedalus. With Daedalus in spellbringer you can use him like a courier.
2) Jast trevel by your SB with daedalus to shop with mana and buy it ^_^
3) Buy by Venus to your SB wand of the west wind.
4) Is 3 different strategy to get another side:
a) Take Enforcer, earn gold fore Daedalus, just flying to enother side throw square with heroes. You will die only one time, your passive skill will save you.
b) Take Haunted Remnant, up your Shadow Rush to 10th lvl, earn gold fore Immortal Escutcheon and get throw heroes square to other side.
с) Take any character you want, and earn gold fore Daedalus then Immortal Escutcheon. Its easy to understand whats need to do next. (Longest way to get enother side).
5) Toward the last wave (wave before creeps that looks like Haunted Remnant on Boss Rush) Fleshless Horror start creates SO much lags... sooo much... They kills my Wc3 :D

I will't explain enother things what SB can do with items from venus.

And a petite wish: make Venus able to be used to sell items. Many peoples try to sell something and just put ther items on circle.

I drew attention on wave before creeps that looks like Haunted Remnant on Boss Rush, and understend, that this wave creates lags too. Thats why game fore Fleshless Horror eds fore me on this wave:D

1)Summoned by archdruid creatures can use Daedalus and get enother side.)
2)I think, that by Haunted Remnant i can put items to hero square and other team can take them - isn't normal.
3) Admiral have passive skill (unhly Psyсhopath) which close skill menu when works. Its couse big truble when Admiral have fast attack speed.

And sorry, but "1.89 Creeps now teleport to goal if you are over 150 creeps now(from 250)" makes game awfully. I defense circle nearby and creeps get they limit when they count come to five nearby me =\

And i would like to know that can you make an item that help us teleporting from this side to other side?
Such as Line war mode, when i full item, defeat bosses, i like to pvp with friend for fun.
So i suggest you to push something for pvping, with that way, we can have more fun, right ?

Hello, i recently started playing warcraft with my friends again after many years and we found this map. Hero survival maps are our favourites and this one is just awesome, better than anything we have ever seen. We get our asses handed to ourselves even on very easy but we keep coming back for more.
I have one question for you: ¿Don't you think there is very little support (item wise) for caster heros? i mean with most of them we always find ourselves out of mana not being able to do nothing but watch how our tank is fighting in the frontline (sometimes dying because we can't help him) even when buying a Fragarach and a wand of the west wind we need to buy mana potions over and over again (which are too damn expensive imho) and rely on our tank to not get killed inmediatly. That or stacking Wands of the West wind to then feed our tank with gold which is kinda lame since the more we progress in the game, the more we need inteligence boosting items (which aren't many) for the abilities scaling. Same problem arises with other heros that rely on casting like the fire panda (whose inmolation does crazy damage but it [ironically] burns out your mana in merely 3 or 4 ticks of damage). ¿What are your thoughts on this? Im very happy to see you keep working in this map, me and my friends salute you for the amazing work you have done.
 
Hmm, that's weird; I don't usually have mana problems as a spellcaster. Yes I understand that casters need to feed gold to the tank, that's why I made caster items (especially the lategame ones) very cheap. Have you tried building Indulgence? It's a very good item for casters, because it gives you a 25% chance of permanently getting 1 int every time you kill a unit. Other good caster items to get include Pride's Downfall, Dementia's Door, Daedalus, Tranquil Edge. If you do not know what these items are try looking in Venus shop located on your circle where the creeps go to. There is a section called Caster Weapons located in the Weapons section. You can buy the items directly there, or go F9 to find all the recipe components (which I recommend because Moonstone-inset Ring is a good early purchase for a big Intelligence boost). Hisan Salves are also a must; 5 mana/second is a lot of mana if you can keep it up the entire game.

Also, a cheap way to get mana early game is just to spam tribal staff until you have 2k mana, then use the 20k pots that restore 2k mana. They're expensive but they have a lot of charges. Just be careful not to get manaburned :p

Thanks for feedback, unfortunately development is slow on this but eventually there will be more versions, even if it takes another few months haha.

Well i don't know what those items are, i mean when we play we have to check our hp and abilities cooldowns all the time to not get rekt out of existence (and we usually forget to take a moment to read in the early levels), will try your recomendations and come back to tell you how it went. Also don't worry and take your time, it has to be fun in order for you to enjoy working on the map. I would try to help you if i knew something about map edition, it's inspiring to see people like you still working on maps after so many years of the game's release. Keep it up!
 
I am also looking for suggestions for item sets, so far there is only one implemented:

Tranquil Warfare
Force Edge (1/3)
Tranquil Force (2/3)
Paradox Blade (3/3)

Set Bonus (2): +36 Intelligence
Set Bonus (3): +48 Intelligence, +8% Max health regen/sec, -25% Damage Aura(Enemies)

Overall I'm pretty happy with this set, since the new Paradox blade is a very strong upgrade of a very strong item, Fragarach, you can supplement its power by boosting the effectiveness of two early mid game items with very useful actives but low stat bonuses with a solid stat bonus and 2 very powerful passives.

This is my goal with these set bonuses, to allow these items with unique actives but low stats to be relevant even in the late game. Which is why I plan for these sets to have at least one relatively expensive late game item, so that the powerful bonuses for having a complete set can't be accessed too early on in the game.
