I've been working on a shooter-style map, and I've tried a few ways of stopping my units from attacking automatically (Kind of makes a shooter game pointless aye?)

Setting their target acquisition range to 1 only makes them run up to within 1 distance of their target before attacking

Also, i tried making an ability based off of Shadowmeld to do the job, but it only works when the unit is stationary (attack move is just as cheap as camping a high-sight zone), it has to be activated every time the unit stops (I doubt a player will intentionally handicap himself by pressing it every time he stops...) and it makes my units transparent (Like it should in the normal game, but it looks silly on my map)

So is there any way I can stop the auto-acquisition of units (Not JASS if possible, I can't make heads or tails of that unless some1 walks me through EVERY step)

did you try disabling the attack command on the unit and giving them an ability that makes them attack?... i mean... if they are ranged and ability that throws an arrow to the enemy like a normal attack ... that way they wont attack by themselves

One way + one problem
You can give them Worker (or Peon type I forgot) Classfiction in Classfictions
Problem is when they are idle it will show idle workers icon for them

You know peasants dont attack automaticly

The Peon-Type Classification works =DIt keeps the units from auto targeting the enemies, however I've got one more question.

The attacked unit auto-retaliates. If you can get rid of that that would be awesome, if not I'm sure I can find a way to work around it.

Thanks for the help guys

Units classified as workers shouldn't retaliate either, I think.

They do actually, in fact i tested it against 3 other units classified as peons and they all fought back (but only when withing 300-400 distance of the attacked unit. That's a minor flaw and it's easily countered by a well aimed grenade launcher =D

If you say Unit is attacked
order attacking unit to attack triggering unit
they should attack until doom comes
