Well, I would wait until this becomes a beta, but it's more like an alpha. There are two bases (Horde and Alliance, top and bottom of the map respectively). Basically, orcs and humans come out every x seconds and keep kicking each other's asses and you're the hero that has to lead your kind to glory and all that cheese.

Map features: Custom Heroes, Custom Items, Custom Models (3 for now) and a recipe system.

PS: I realize that there are bugs and somewhat simple-minded stuff, apart from awkward things like the map being a bit too small (or so have a few people told me) and the fact that the terrain needs a lot of work (not that it's some kind of a plane dusty map, it has doodads, but it still can get a lot better). All I want from you, apart from crits, is to tell me if you think this map is going the right way.

PLEASE keep in mind it is VERY, VERY, VERY wip.

If you tell me stuff like "it sucks" or anything like that, tell me WHY, apart from the stuff I already brought up. Tell me why should I "please die" or go cut myself to make the world a better place. :p

And please consider that it's the first time I ever get serious on a map.

***EDIT***

- Fixed some balancing problems (keyword SOME)

- Alleria has an ultimate that accelerates her attack speed greatly (Level 1: +30%; Level2: +60%; Level 3: +90%) to make up for the low damage and hit points.

- Turalyon now has a far more powerful avatar (+750 hit points, +10 armour and +45 damage)

- BladeStorm is more powerful (3 levels: Level 1: 150 dmg x second, 300 AOE; Level 2: 200 dmg per second, 350 AOE; Level 3: 250 dmg per second, 400 AOE.)

- Added a Mega Critical Strike ultimate for Kargath/Korgath (it's the same thing, don't bug me with that >_>... visit www.wowwiki.com if you don't believe me =/) Bladefist (x3 damage, 10% chance)

- Spread both bases a bit so it wouldn't get all that crowdy.

That's it atm.

*UPDATE* 06/23/'07

- Map a lot bigger, amongst other things. Need a good terrainer for the map. Msn me at [email protected] if you're interested.

- Added a new terrain (Black Citadel, wanted it to look like Dreanor. The thing is, if I used the Draenor one, the ramps in the middle of the map would look void-ish and units wouldn't be able to walk over them).

- Replaced Kargath's Bladestorm (completely non-appropriate) with a Savage Howl abillity.

- Fixed Alleria's Ultimate.

- Added Boots of Speed.

*UPDATE* 07/10/'07

Things added:

- Bash Item

- 2 more levels for Turalyon's Avatar

- New Defend abillity for Danath. Works only against the mob.

Fixed:

- Hero's ultimate abillities now have a 5-level-skip.

- Alleria's ultimate abillity wouldn't appear at the bottom once learned, does now.

- Players, if in the correspondent slots, could control the mob and/or Emergency and Super Heroes. Fixed (made player slots locked as computers, thanks for the aid Tooolbox <3).

- Fixed some spelling errors.

- Fixed income going only for the first player in each Force.

- Wind Walk now lasts 5, 10, and 15 seconds, to prevent wind-walk-whoring.

- Fixed skills disorder (by this I mean that learned skills didn't share the same order as unlearned skill coordinate-wise (in x) )

- When a Super Hero comes out, run for your friggin lives unless you're cheating at single player (click on the enemy super hero when you break the building to see why).

- Player can no longer summon 2 heroes.

That's it for the time being. :p

Now after I've played it there's a few things that really amazed me.

All units are really weak, they attack at an alarming rate and it's almost impossible to force the enemy back.

Lol, it's not impossible. buy the Ultimate Weapon by combining the Agillity, Strength and Intelligence items. You can also use your Emergency Hero (see Quests menu).

The thing about this hero is that he uses Divine Armour, which makes it very hard for all units (except heroes, because they use Chaos attack) to actually harm him at a considerable rate.

I remember when all heroes had Divine Armour and Chaos attacks (Lol?) in an earlier version and, let me tell you, that sucked. It's better with certain difficulty, believe me.

Seriously though, if you expect a piece-of-cake map with no effort put into it to break the enemy's base... well sorry, but count me out. ;P

Your description does not sound very appealing. Sounds like a very primitive AOS, yes?

It rather sounds like a mind going blank really. ;P

Destination: Battlefield doesn't sound bad at all, unless someone has a better suggestion. :eek:

Don't get me wrong Andy011, of course I like a challenge. But I think the problem is that the mobs spawn too fast. How often do they spawn?

About every 35 seconds. The thing is there's too much of them at a time. But yeah, that's exactly the reason why they have such low hit points. =X

Orcs: 4 ogres, 5 raiders, 8 grunts and 5 trolls.

Humans/Alliance: 9 knights, 10 footmen and 7 archers.

The reason why there are more humans than orcs is simply because the orcs are stronger in damage and hit points. Except the Ogres (gotta fix that). Not to mention the Chaos orcs, Ogre Magi, Dark Trolls and Chaos Raiders (Super Units, see Quests menu).

I also wanted the name of the map. The map name should be used as the title of your thread. Names like "my first map", "im making a map", "here goes nothing.." are not allowed. I read your first post, and edited the thread name to what you say is the map name; Destination: Battlefield.

Oh, mini-me, man, are you trying to give me a heart-attack? I thought you deleted the thread for some reason. xD

Whew. I'll bare that rule in mind for the next time. I tried to rename the thread title, but can't seem to do that as a regular user... saying "hewre" instead of "here" made me sound like a noobsauce, was about to pm a mod hehe. ;P

Anyhow, expect a big update soon, the map is MUCH bigger (160 x 160 if I recall correctly) and supports all 12 players action. That's right, 6 vs 6. Thing is, though, it's 2:06 am over here and I gotta crash before gravity does the job, so no attachments right now hehe.

BTW does anyone know by any chance how to make the "creeps" (the mob spawning periodically) not occupy player slots? Thing is I'm not quite sure where to ask this: GUI or general WE questions. And please, no JASS, I hate programming. Logic I can deal with, but syntax is NOT my forte.

Oh and before I forget, I might need some ppl specialized at terraining. My terraining skills just suck, plain and simple. I'll post a thread at the recruiting section. In the meantime, if anyone happens to have good skills at decorating and texture placing, msn me at [email protected] .

BTW Alleria's ultimate abillity (the attack speed manipulator thingy) doesn't show when you learn that skill, but it's there and it will boost your attack speed up.

Gotta fix it tho.

Just make Alleria's ultimate based on Engineering Upgrade followed by triggers to make her attack speed faster.

Or based on Endurance Aura and change the Area of Effect to 1 or something similiar to just affect the hero.

I played it and it has indeed improved. But here's a list of things I saw that could be changed.

1. At the Tavern, if you move your mouse over Arthas it says "Tool tip missing!", likewise for the Paladin/Uther hero. Also, it says Summon T|uralyon on Garithos.
2. There are no level requirements on any spells.
3. Rain of Chaos has no mana cost.
4. The Warlock's title says Master Mage and not Warlock?
5. Also, what does a Warlock do with a Healing Wave ability?
6. I still think the Attack Speed is way too fast.
7. When a hero dies it says that they can be revived at "the Tabern", I think you mean Tavern.
8. You could also remove Riflemen and Knights from the Barrack building since you can't train them anyway.

P.S if you plan on using that name for the map feel free to give credits. :p

4. Not sure what you mean, Gul'dan is the Warlock, and Khadgar is the Mage Master, it's fine. o_O

5. Again, Gul'dan is the Warlock and he doesn't have a healing wave abillity... the Mage Master, Khadgar has it. Gul'dan has the Unholy Light abillity.

Terrain Tip:
Always use alot of variation of using the tilesets and making them blend. Same with doodads. It is also recommended to place alot of environmental doodads as well, but in good areas and making it look good. Placing a tree on a stoney ground is not a smart idea.
Remember, terrain is one of the strong points in gameplay. It helps players keep themselves interested in the map if it looks good and sometimes tempts them to play even longer, even if the gameplay is bad. So terrain can sometimes save you!


Screenshots don't elaborate that much. But so far it doesn't look that bad.

The screenshots that need more work on tileset variation are 1,2,3, and 5.
