Hello! First of all, thank you for viewing this thread. I haven't had enough time to prepare for the thread because the submission of this map in on Tuesday. The map is still incomplete and has many bugs so I posted it here for everyone to test and report bugs or suggest things to improve my map.

Map Description: The Pinoy heroes of different times rise up again to team up and defend their homeland, the Philippines, against the conquistadors.


Notes:
-It's an AOS type of game, much like DOTA.
-Item's not yet finished.
-Salcedo and Legazpi still incomplete.
-Neutral creeps not yet done.
-Revive timers stack(Bugs)
-Credits list incomplete

It's about time someone made a map about the Philippine heroes, testing it right now.

EDIT: I didn't find any major bugs except for these two which aren't actually that major but is worth changing.

-Prepare to fight and Cenarius' Horn sounds are played too late since the creeps have spawned and have engaged in battle in the lanes already.
-Upon dying, the Maharlika Archer's sounds like those NE chicks, but this bug is more on the model used.

Overall, the map is pretty good and the terrain is already.. I forgot that word.. uh.. maganda.

Haha. Thank you for the review! ^_^ I wanted this map to more educational and I'm still working on adding more facts and trivias on items, neutral creeps, etc. :)

Aww yeah! Ok, first off, I would suggest changing the name, since DotA is VERY popular in the Philippines, the name would be considered as uncreative or maybe even a ripoff.
(I would suggest the name "Viva Filipinas". But whatever you like. :)
Secondly, judging from the screenshots, the terrain looks good! I'll test it later!
Lastly, the loading screen... looks great, honestly, but I would suggest trying to find an artist who can draw more.. original artwork for this. But no pressure! It's actually fine on its own right now, I just think a few changes would make it better.

K finished testing ! While I'm crafting items I realized the recipes are have a different name. Thanks that I'm playing Dota :p Cause I'm familliar to those items. Also Mask of Death isn't in the Shop. Many items are not selling in shops. :p

Yeah. The items are not finished yet and I think I'll just remove those item recipes because it's too late to fix it. :)

Thanks for the suggestion guys. I can't think of a good title so i just copied the "Defense of the etc.". Sooo what's a good title for this map? :)


As I said, I would suggest "Viva Filipinas" as a good title.

Just joking, :) anyway I already test the map and here is the following got my attention;

1. Nice mapping with the terrain but I think mid lane is a little bit unbalance compare with two bot n top lane. You should notice it!
2. Ill try useing hero that has a level six skill rushing to target, the dying dummy_unit annoyed me, make a trigger that removed instantly every dummy_unit die.
3. I agree with others comment try to make unique items that doesn't already have in AOS type game.
4. Creeps location is not well balance in every each opposite sides.
5. I wonder if where is Roshan?
6. Finally, Try to make AI as early as possible.

^Well, there is one, and I think it's called ending the game. If you're already at the max level they why fool around and waste time when you can already end the game and start a new one?

P.S. In a balanced AOS, even if you're already at the max level with top notch items, you can still die when the enemy team coordinates and does team work.

I am not saying that an AOS map should not have a boss but I think it getting too mainstream having a roshan-type (hack and slash) boss in the map. What if the event would just be strongest hero vs all of the other hero or maybe using control points like the ones I linked? That would be pretty unique and not just copying DOTA.

Yes, TDs have bosses too but it's because the main objective of those kinds of map are to defend the "important thing" from incoming creeps and bosses. AOS' objective is not to destroy the strongest creep in the map but to destroy the other team's "important thing".

Well, the ones that are commonly hosted are extreme candy wars, battle tanks, battle ships and armaggedon. Most of the time when these maps are hosted in bnet or in garena, the host usually sets the game as private because most these said hosts just wants to play with their friends and not with strangers (I know because I host these games every saturday and I know a lot of people that do). I usually play these maps with my friends because that's what we like, hosting and playing new custom map and the sort.

An AOS map doesn't need a roshan-type boss to be successful.

I'm bored.

First things first, the title of the map. Defense of the Philippine Heroes, just like the earlier posts said, is already kind of taken. It's a combination of Defense of the Ancients and War of the Philippine Heroes. DotPh is also not catchy is and quite lengthy and hard to pronounce (unlike DotA, which is short and sweet (also LoL and HoN)).

I suggest a catchy Filipino word for the title. Something like Sandugo. If you don't fancy short names, try asking around in the Pinoy Resources Society group.

Next would be the Terrain. I don't like the mix of trees used in the map. On the Philippine side, there are lush green and dead orange willow trees, some brightly colored palm trees, tall "too-much-green" bamboo thingies, and some weird Ashenvale trees that does not fit at all.

If you're planning on making the Philippine side to show that the country is tropical and that there's a ton a varieties in trees, then you're still picking the wrong trees. Currently, the terrain in the Phil. side looks like a swamp.

Since the Philippine faction has a high change that they'll be the "good" side (ie. Sentinels), then I suggest making their terrain side brighter like choosing a different tileset (from what I can remember, Sunken Ruins had a bright tileset) and all together ditching out the willow trees. They make the terrain feel gloomy. Go for something like this or this. Try asking eubz if he/she could whip up more tree models using the same texture/design.

Now let's go the other sid...oh my god are they demons? I don't fully get why you're using blighted trees for the Spanish side. I first thought that an urbanized terrain for the Spanish side would be a cool thing to see (like man-made structures here and there). That would create a setting that the Philippine team is more of a rebel/guerilla team attacking the city conquered by Spaniards or something. But then I remembered there might be a Tango-like item ingame. So I'm not really sure what to suggest here.

Lastly, the whole terrain in general. You might want to define the lanes more like adding cobble/gravel/dirt pathways for the lanes. That's because it is kind of difficult to see the lanes in the the top-down view screenshot you provided. And also, there seems to be a random placement of tiles here and there.

Take note thought that I haven't played the map yet (and will not be able to) so most of these comments are based on the previews you have provided in the first post.

PS: @jxtanghero: Roshans (or bosses) aren't not necessary to make an AoS map. If you're are already the top tier of the game (ie. the only level 25 ingame with endgame items) then go win the game already and stop staling the time ._.

Although, I do agree that a sidetrack quest/activity is a fun thing to do.
