Place the "DotD212.w3n"-file inside your campaigns-folder. Don't rename it. Tested with Frozen Throne v1.27. Go to Single Player and choose Custom Campaigns.

Multi-map campaign, based on the book Day of the Dragon by Richard A. Knaak. It's timeline is set between the WC2-Addon and a few years before WC3. As with LotC I didn't follow the storyline exactly, due to the fact that it's impossible, if at least you want to have decent gameplay. It would have been better as a cinematic-series otherwise. The campaign contains 15 maps. 8 normal. 3 you could call sub-maps. And 4 cinematic maps, one of which you will only be able to see if you complete all optional quests as a bad guy. There are more features to the cmapaign of course, but you'll have to see for yourself. Suffice to say that there's a lot of optional stuff.

Phewwww, made it :D For the second time! After almost 1,5 years I have finished my second campaign, after "Lord of the Clans". Another Warcraft novel. I'm happy with the result and I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun with it. Some of you may ask what my next project is going to be. Another book? Not at all. It's time for me to quit WC3-Mapping and go on. I want to do Raids in World of Warcraft without having to think that I still got some work to do. Maybe Starcraft II will get me in the mood again, as long as Blizzard hurries up...

    I was just about to explain how to fix it and tell you that a big update is coming but it takes time and blablabla .... and then I realized I could just fix it myself quickly and save everyone the hassle...

    Evolution of Chapter 8:

    1) Epic, but a lot of unused space


    2) More condensed, better visuals


    3) Even more condensed, vastly improved visuals, total gameplay remake


    Some of you will say "whaaat? Even more condensed? How is this going to the epic battle of Grim Batol?" Well, I actually removed a lot of redundant gameplay elements to make room for the cool ones.

    - Completely removed the first phase of the Caravan. It felt redundant to do it twice.
    - The caravan now comes in small groups instead of just at the end of a timer.
    - Completely removed the phase where Rhonin, Vereesa and Falstad move down the mountain. There is now only a very small section where Rhonin kills a few orcs. It wasn't bad to have the trio together for a while, but overall I felt that the campaign has enough gameplay that involve only heroes. I felt this map needed to focus on base building. BUT Vereesa and Falstad can now be part of the main base building phase if the player finds them.
    - No longer needs to destroy the orc base to rescue Alexstrasza as she is now part of the Caravan.
    - Completely removed first phase of dragon battle and replaced turn-based combat with real-time combat with completely new abilities.
    - So many things removed? You're wondering what I actually added... After rescuing Alexstrasza Nekros doesn't remain dead. Instead he gets continuously respawned at a nearby Altar and accompanies the enemy attack waves. Players now have to destroy all Altars instead just some Towers. The gameplay of the map now focuses on your base and the enemy bases much sooner.
    - Additionally: Alexstrasza is now a summoned unit via Krasus. The Demon Soul is now an ability. Fewer and smaller cinematics. Replaced custom aspect models with standard dragon models (Had to do it because they were bugged).

    Map is still WIP: Need to remake the Outro cinematics, work on difficulty and polish.

    That's an incredible amount of work you've been doing here mate. I've got to say I'm sad the old levels are gone, but I'm excited to play the whole campaign again when it's done. Keep on the good work!

    I played this when it was much smaller and rougher, im glad it updated , doing great so far , but I get specific crashes, one is with Krasus (C5) using his W the summon dragon spirit , crashes it. passed this by not using W. The next is more game stopping since i cant continue (C6) i just need to destroy the red orc base but every time I attempt it crashes.

    Hello. Thanks for the report. Just checking: Did you get the latest version from Battle.net? 1.30.4

    I will look into your bug reports as quickly as possible.

    Can you describe the Chapter 6 situation more precisely? What happened right before the crash? Did you attack a building or a unit?

    @OutsiderXE Yes Im using on the latest patch. I just attacked it normally , it could be the blademaster or the dragon. I tried attacking with only heroes then tried attacking from a diff side still it crashes a few seconds into combat. I'll try to see if a specific enemy unit is doing it.

    With the recent patches anything that has to do with custom models may crash a map. I'll look at and hopefully can present a fix by the end of the weekend.

    Ok with my great strategy I managed to pass the chapter by pulling each unit individually. None of them caused me to crash. Also 2 of the dragons are neutral instead of being red. Maybe they tried to devour a red unit thus the crash.

    Bad news: I can reproduce neither the Dragon Spirit nor the base attack crash you described. I'm sure I experienced the Dragon Spirit crash myself at one point on the past though...

    If you get very annoyed by all the bugs I recommend waiting fo the update. It's months away but it will include many completely revamped maps and overall improved gameplay experience.

    I've just finish replaying your campaign and found some bug in chapter 2. When I rescue the first mortal team I notice you make them invulnerable to prevent them from dying, but I accidentally walk them through the fire trap and they still die. Also when I run into the big battle with the orc and dwarf quickly I was able to control the hero mountain king as well(though he still die immediately, his icon still appear in the top left corner)
    Also I played chapter 4 goblin island as well and honestly I think the older version was more enjoyable, probably because of more challenging puzzle and some silly joke that make this chapter unique in the campaign. The witch doctors' lines make me chuckle every times. It's sad that you removed some of it.
    The last chapter was amazing, except the last section feel a bit weird. I guess that because I don't like turn-based fight very much, but I feel it's kinda slow for a finale, compare to the previous epic battle.
    Anyway, I enjoy playing your campaign a lot, I love warcraft lore and your map making style make me love the story even more. I hope you will create more content in the future

    Great Story! But the last chapter where the dragon fight kinda dull for me because mostly the spell of dragon for supporting................ But thats fine :):):):)..

    Found a bug when Krasus turn into human form below obstacle (e.g. Trees, Town Hall, altar of kings etc) he will turn into human while floating in air instead walking on the land.... Kinda funny for me to see some grunt attack krasus while he floating in air...

    I am remaking the Chapter 5 Nozdormu map:
    - Old map completely replaced. No more rescuing Thrall in old Durnholde
    - Krasus travels to the past to the time when Rhonin was overconfident and reckless
    - Base building with slightly altered human tech-tree: Archers instead of Riflemen. Ballistae instead of Mortar Teams/Siege Tanks
    - Destroy orc outposts before Rhonin (uncontrollable) reaches them and dies
    - New dialogue about Rhonin's past and how he became hated by the Kirin Tor

    I am currently in a prototype phase, meaning I am trying out different concepts, so things I mentioned above can still change. It's going to be a small map with 20-30 minutes of playtime. No ETA on the update anymore. I barely have time to work on it and I fear I will not make it before Reforged is out :(

    This has actually been a thought of mine ever since I started updating the campaigns. Wouldn't it be more valueable if I just created something new? Honestly, I don't think people would want me to. My campaigns are liked because they form books/actual lore into campaigns, but I don't think they would be really worth it unless the gameplay was good.

    The first versions of my WC3 campaigns, especially LotC, were horrible. Thrall's base abilities were War Stomp, Bash and Evasion. He had no ultimate. So imagine in a battle the only thing you could do is use War Stomp 2-3 times and then Thrall's mana would run out.

    LotC has still big issues in my opinion:
    - Many cinematics are too long
    - There are too many maps and too many similar gameplay elements
    - Thrall ability kit becomes quite boring after some time

    I've started updating LotC to fix some of these issues, but more on that in the LotC thread when the time is right.

    As I have often said, I will not continue updating the campaigns forever. I will give each one one last push. After that I will see what else I can work on.

    I like theorizing about potential new projects. With Reforged on the horizon a new WC3 project would certainly be feasible.
    - Rise of the Horde is my favourite book and from what I remember it has potential for a good campaign.
    - I've recently reread Night of the Dragon. Could have some interesting gameplay mecahnics but I don't like its story very much, so the only reason to do it would be to have a sequel to DotD.
    - War of the Ancients was a better read and is very popular, and it would also serve as a sequel to DotD. Unless I decided to do the no-time-travel variant. Only problem with WotA is that it's 3 books, so that would mean at least 20 maps.

    Youve mulled around on the idea before plenty of times across the last few years about that book

    Im well aware where it stands with you.

    Its the more interesting story few are familiar with anyway.

    Your options will pretty much be do it on wc3 with hive assets. More then enough of tauer's models ro fill out the roth cast. Or do it on reforged for a change of pace.

    And probably be the most anticipated campaign for the new game.

    You seemed ro get invested well enough into shadow of the xelnaga for a change of pace qhen sc2 first hit.

    Also i dont think youd be eager to revise and overhaul a wota 20 map the way you do your triology. A long campaign and development would drag ass as time goes on.

    Thats easily 5 years of development if not more.

    While you have shown more then enough times across the last 16 years the commitment to your work.

    That seems highly overambitious.

    Maybe try something new to challenge yourself?

    Legacy of lordaeron as far as i know is the ONLY campaign which is Rexxar format. That may allow for some fun gameplay and creatvity with whatever you choose and could more then easily be released episodic because of ACTS. It would probably be the best way to do WoTA since u could seperate them into 3 Acts and just generally have a main mega overlay map woth different storypoints taking place and a handful of dungeons or side areas.

    With rhonin and friends being easy counterparts for the whole rexxar rohkhan chen trio

    I don't think I would have the time or the energy for a WotA campaign. RotH seems much more likely. There is probably not much of a difference, but I would base it on WC3 Reforged and not on WC3 Vanilla because going into the future Reforged is going to be the new standard. If I can use existing Hive assets I will use them and then replace them with more detailed versions later on.

    The new tools and "game" would probably inspire it. Especially for new or returning people looking only for reforged things.

    More exposure for sure

    Still think you could do a lot woth the rexxar formula if you wanted to give it a whirl or consult @Warseeker on it

    As it stands now your gameplay is quite varied across all your wc3 campaigns.

    As DotD is getting more base building maps, I've been thinking about adding more Rexxar formular to LotC, to make those two campaigns more distinguishable. I would merge some maps and make them more open. Thrall would get additional abilities, e.g. calling permanent pet friends, craft items etc. It really depends on how much time I'm willing to put into it.
