    I am very surprised with Kael being an Assassin. I also wonder what they have done with cooperative.

    Specialist. Suits him much better as he is quite literally all damage (which specialists usually are).

    His main weakness from what I have seen is that he has limited capability to prevent escape. Arcane tornado is his only anti-escape skill and that can miss quite easily. As such for an Assassin he has a lot of problems actually "assassinating" tougher heroes.

    He clearly is a team player as such. For him to be really effective you need to team up with a hero that has anti-escape skills like stuns and such.

    Thought from warcraft lore, could be crowd control support, or assasin. For me personaly that fits him best :)

    As for me, he should be assassin/support hibrid. If they gave him vanish, it would be perfect to save ally heroes by vanishing them + talent that allows allies to break vanish by doing damage. Still, it's their game and their choice.

    As I was telling friend today you can't compete with Blizzard, I have trust in them. Still I'd prefer Sylvannas as ass that has same orb from warcraft.

    Support means healer and he is not really the healer type. The problem with him being an Assassin is that he clearly was not one in WC3 (he had no nukes and only had an AoE area damage ability with bad cast time). The Lich was a better assassin than him as at least he had Frost Nova nuke.

    Banish in WC3 was more a debuff than a saving skill. It raised magical damage so worked well when paired with Mountain King or Archmage which had powerful damage abilities. Throw in a self-cast flame strike that somehow lands (well they were slowed so it landed more easily) and you got some decent "nuke like" damage. Really shined it team play where you could banish and then have a race with nukes (Undead, cough) nuke the banished hero to death.

    I agree, I'm sorry I made mistake in terminology. I would still make him a crowd control hero :)

    I believe that in this game "Assassin" means "damage dealer of any sort".
    Includes: Nukers, DPS mages, Marksmans, Assassins, DPS fighters.

    "Specialist" is more like a "how the hell do we classify this"
    Includes: Mages, weird gameplay, WTF

    Currently they mean pretty much the following.
    Support -> Can heal
    Warrior -> Can take damage
    Assassin -> Has anti-escape moves
    Specialist -> Deals a lot of damage

    The developers have expressed intent for revising these roles. Specifically they are too general currently. For example where as Muradin is bad at dealing damage against heroes however can stun them with multiple skills, Tyrael is very good at dealing damage against heroes but instead has anti-escape skills while both are Warrior classes. As such they might add many more classifications in the future which more generalize what the heroes are good at (Tyrael will be classified differently from Muradin).

    Why use classifications made by developers?

    For LoL, I for example use these classifications:
    DPS Assassin Bruiser Tank Support
    Ad
    Combi
    AP

    Additionally:
    CC Level,
    Mobility level,
    Anti Ability level,
    Counter effectiveness,
    Teamcomp possibilities,
    Multiple role viability,
    Difficulty level,
    etc.

    There are just too much things to qualify someone.
    And that will probably also be for HotS.
    I unfortunately cannot play as my current internet has a 40s latency on a 120kb/s speed, so I took the example that I use in LoL which I know better.

    I always go Illidan with a friend who goes Abathur, cuz she gives me attack speed bonus I don't need Metamorphosis. Meta cd is 120 secs but The Hunt is 60, with his trait reducing the cooldown with every autoattack I almost always have my ultimate, he's a killingmachine like that.

    Until you ram into a player next to murky who proceeds to whack you with a fish while the other guys deplete your health like it was already 0.

    Illidan is an assassin, if he could not down heroes what would he be good for? His damage is great but he has less health than Zeratul and has even worse escapes. If you run into multiple heroes alone you are almost always dead.

    In a team battle prepare to be focused to death as well as all that damage and low health acts as a nice "kill me first please" sign on your head. Obviously they will wait until your evasion runs out, probably taking down either your other DPS or the only support who can heal you.

    Metamorphosis is still more useful in team fights. It gives you a little extra health and more damage. Out of team fights it can be used as a much needed escape move. This allows a more defensive "hard to kill" style to Illidan.

    The Hunt is an even better escape, the cooldown is almost unnoticable for an ultimate, you just target an enemy lane unit somewhere far away and you're done escaping.

    My abathurfriend also give me shields and we oftenly 2v4 people with this combo <3

    You can? I thought it could only target heroes or maybe I am getting confused with Tyrael's version.

    Abuthur's shield is like getting a piece of plaster board to protect you. Yes it does reduce damage but not enough to make a difference once multiple heroes are involved.

    Once the abilities are thrown at you, you are pretty much dead instantly. If not instantly, then as soon as your evasion runs out.

    Illidan is fantastic at assassinating heroes, he suck at team battles thanks to that huge "kill me please" sign he wields for having high damage and low health. Metamorphosis is his only really viable team battle option due to the +health, and even that is now pretty poor due to the recent nerf.

    Also if Abuthur is on you all the time it means he is not away from you. Sure you might win every 1v1 and even 1v2 battles, however it is then practically a 2v1 or 2v2 since Abuthur is with you and not doing something somewhere else. It has to be very effective at killing opponents otherwise you would be worse off. Additionally the Abuthur has to build around you, which lowers his potential in other areas and hence means that you have to be effective otherwise the talents were largely wasted. Basically a typical (and perfectly acceptable) all-in strategy.

    Idk if they patched it minion targeting out, but I used to use it as a mapwide escape sometimes.

    Aba building to help me gank people gives the team allot of xp, making the other team allot weaker over time.
    I know abathur can't really fulfill his 'role' like that, but if played right, the whole team will profit eventually

    The Hunt cannot target minions anymore. The good thing is that you will no longer accidently target that nearby minion instead of the victim hero. The bad thing is that you can no longer use it to escape bad situations by hopping to another lane.

    I am guessing an old technique used by Illidan players involving The Hunt and its map wide level 20 improvement.

    I don't know if I should be posting in a 2 year old thread, but since it's not closed, I might as well do it.:bored:

    I've been playing HotS for quite a while now and have quite a few heroes I like playing. I don't play the same heroes all the time and try to mix it up, but nonetheless my most played heroes are Valla, Kharazim and Zagara. I also like to play Jaina, she can deal a lot of damage if you use her abilities correctly. Kharazim is a nice fighter Support and I really like saving other people(or myself) from death with his Divine Palm. Zagara is also great, nice sieging potential and a lot of ways to fight the enemy off. I need to learn to land my Devouring Maw's with her, however. Valla is my most played hero because I started playing her when I didn't have much heroes. She is more of a classic adc that can be a bit squishy early on, but once I learned how to keep my distance and dish out damage I mostly did well with her.

    Well, this giant paragraph was just me talking about my most played heroes. I also like quite a lot of other heroes. Xul is nice, for example. =)

    By the way, if anyone wants to play with me, you can find me on Europe server. I do have an account in Americas, but since I'm located in UK, my connection might get laggy when playing there. My battletag is Edgus#1575 .
