I don't know about you, but Mass Effect is one of my all time favorite RPGs. They really did a hell of a job polishing and fine tuning that game. I'm psyched for #2, I just hope they release more books. That would be swell.

I wish I could mod Mass Effect like WC3. But then again I'm not that good at modding WC3 so XD

I'm going to be pissed if i'm the only ME fanboy. FF can eat a high explosive X tech grenade. Bu-yah

I kind of hope after the series is done they make an MMO, wouldn't it be sweet to see clan owned planets and heavy cruisers and stuff? It'd probably play like the MMO Westwood made a few years back, I forgot the name but it was pretty cool.

Actually, as big a fan of ME I am there they don't make "Exploring a new world" as exciting as I thought it would be..

Due to the fact they all look the same and are the size of a Warcraft map.

On the plus side, the vehicle you get to ride in is too much epic win. But following the main story arc gives you funner scenarios to use it in (Such as the last level, and the tropical level)

I agree that they could have made exploring planets more interesting. The only unexplored planet I thought was interesting was the starship troopers-esq Rakni one. However if you think about it, most of the planets in the galaxy probably really are just barren rocks like in the game.

Ill play the game once they release the next patch.

My weapons overheat, then get stuck overheated permanently, and even if I change out weapons to a different one, the new one is perm overheated too.

I just bought this game for $17, and it was worth it, but I wouldn't give it the high scores it got on gaming sites. It's fun, but nothing amazing.

It takes time to get used to, I don't feel comfortable with the way they did the equipment UI. Something about it makes it confusing. I think there's too much information on the screen.

Your AI partners suck dick. Or at least mine do. They die every fight just about, and I'm left to kill the enemies. You can't switch to them, which bothers me since I would like to try out the different classes without making a new character. They don't seem to be able to take down enemies well, which is fine with me since that means I get to kill more, but then why have them? Trying to command them is pointless. I often just hold them somewhere out of the way, and do it myself.

The fighting in the game is only decent. The aiming is really awkward, I don't see why they didn't make the fighting just like any other shooter.

The talking gets boring quick, really quick. Half the game (or more) is talking. They should have toned that down a lot.

Driving is boring. The planets are pretty ugly and plain, and it's pointless to fight usually. Just driving through your enemies and getting to the destination is easier.

Granted I haven't played much yet, so it may get better, but I doubt it. Anyways, It's a good game, especially if you love stories, and dialog.

Well, it's a RPG, it's normal to have lots of talking. That's kinda the point. I liked the talking, it was all cinematic-like and it had a nice atmosphere. The fighting was akward at the beginning, definitely I agree ><. Before I got used to the whole fighting system I felt really strange and at some points my PC even lags like hell so it made it even more awkward ><. But when I got used to the whole fighting thing, it felt good and very well made.

The partnersss.... well, in the beginning I used Tali and Garrus which means that I had NO combat power at all, since I myself was playing with an Adept. And since Tali and Garrus are more tech-oriented, they were bringing down the enemies shields and stuff, but didn't do much damage. So maybe that's where your problem is, I had the same problem, but then I switched Garrus for Wrex and he definitely ownd, trust me ><. Or you could try Ashley, she is the most combat-oriented party member.

About the equipment, at the beginning I felt like that too, yeah ><. Mass Effect is kinda frustrating for a little at the beginning, cause it has so much different shit than any other similar games, but it's so unique and awesome when you get used to the whole idea. At any point, I loved the game and I beated it very quickly, cause I wanted to see how the story would develop. It wasn't bad at all, you just have to get used to all the new stuffs with which it is filled. But the whole concept and the way it was done, I really think it deserved the ratings.

I am using Ashley and Garrus. I'm a soldier.

Sure rpgs need talking, but it I just wish it wasn't the theme of the game.

The game is also frustrating because I suck. You die in seconds. Health seems to be absolutely pointless. I've tried to make a tank, and it fails.

This game is pretty good., I just wish the planet where less boring to explore and it had freeplay after the final mission.

I beat it once as a soldier and got to some high level, and then my hard drive crashed =.= I think I'm going to play it again and be a complete asshole this time.

It was okay. Awesome endgame, but the dialog was incredibly dull, and the characters were nearly all basic super serious soldiers in space. Come on, Bioware, how can you make so many characters have no personnality whatsoever?

Main quest was short and sweet, but the side quests were pathetic. All the planets are barren, with one or two of the same rubble you can inspect, with one of 3 different interior buildings on the planet. That sucks.

Lol, it was the same for me, but I thought it was like that because I was an Adept and was supposed to suck at combat and be only good with bio stuffs :p. But if a soldier dies as fast too, then it REALLY is stupid ><. But heyyy, let's not only talk about the bad things in the game, it's not perfect, sure, but it was still good ^_^

I can tank better now! :p
They just suck at balancing. You get no shields at the beginning of the game, and no skills to help you live. So at the beginning I used med packs a ton, and died a lot. Now I'm beastly and can take missiles to the face, and never use med packs. Instead of making enemies scale, they just send more and more at you to make it get harder and it just gets easier because I kill them so fast.

It is a pretty good game though. The items could have been done a little better imo, and the fighting could be polished more. Enemies are only good when they run around madly because they move so fast and the games camera doesn't. I can't keep my screen on them when they get close, and I get confused as to which is a teammate and which is an enemy. I just shoot like mad and hope I kill them.

So true, so truee ^_^ I was a little irritated with the whole item-thing in the beginning, buut at one point I just started converting nearly anything I got into medi-gel and just getting the best weapons I could find from a store and continuing on. The fighting stuff could've been a little better, yeah, you're right. But it still is a very nice game and I'm happy to see that you've played it and that you still find it okay :p You damn Soldier, I was dying NON-STOP for the whole friggin game with my sissy Adept :p

Going soldier is good, and then just get that alien chick with bio for skills, and either the sniper guy, or the tech girl. You get most if not all of the abilities, and your character is tough.

Yeah and that makes you see most of the game without having to replay it... althouuughtt.. I guess some people enjoy replaying and look forward to that. But still, that's what the different endings are for. There are different endings for the game btv, you probably know, but I still should probably point it out :p depending on if you have more Paragon or Renegade points. what do you focus more on by the vei, Paragon or Renegade?

I went Paragon, but I'm going to replay as a Renegade, and I'm going to just do story missions.

I had sex with that alien chick since the human was so annoying with her manliness. I killed the guy human instead of the girl. I killed the council. Can't think of any other major decisions.

I recently got this game off steam and I must say I'm more than impressed. I've read (and watched) reviews, but I still can't believe how awesome this game is. It's like KotOR and Gears of War combined!

I don't know why your complaining about it being difficult. I've died only once as a soldier. The idea is to TAKE COVER. In real life, do soldiers run into the crossfire so they could be filled with lead? No. They get behind something and wait for an opportunity to shoot back at their enemy. Seriously.

Although the dialogue isn't action-packed, it just feels so real... all the people you can talk to feel like they each have a different personality. And when you do converse with someone, it feels cinematic, almost like your watching an interactive movie!

I've gone about an hour or so into the game, and I've enjoyed every bit of it. One thing that kinda disappoints, however, is that you basically get all your party members right from the start. In KotOR, you were stuck with Carth for some time! Only after about a few hours or so you unlock Mission, etc. In Mass Effect, I have almost every character! I'm only missing one. It isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it just doesn't let you sort of "bond" with any of your party-members, if you will.

The game was really hard for me, but I just sucked. I did fine the second time through on a harder difficulty (new character too). The only part that is too hard, is the fight with the matriarch. I can barely beat it on easy.

I like how you get the party members quickly. It gives you choice right away.

The fight with the Matriarch was difficult for one reason: she kept on Throwing me off of the ramp! I kept getting either stuck or insta-killed because of that. Then, I found out her one weakness: Statis. It gave my team (which constisted of the hot Ashley and the bad-ass Wrex) enough time to haul-ass and regroup. Then I popped those Commandos full of acid (via my modified Assault Rifle with Acidic Ammuntion II) and bam! Victory at last.

Edit: The As'ari girl, or the "alien chick", as it were... (dunno her name, don't have her yet) sucks! No way does she beat the hotness of Ashley! Ashley's like Bastila AND Mira combined (in terms of hotness, mind you)! Note: if you played KotOR 1/2, you'd know which two girls I'm referring to. I'm eagerly waiting to bang-bang Ashley. Unfortunately, it's randomized... or so I was told.

She's a character in a video game, I just can't find her "hot". The Asari character is way better imo. Biotics own.

I own with Wrex and Ashley. Ashley is the best at combat, and Wrex is a Vanguard, I believe, so he is good in combat AND Biotics. I've done well thus far with them. I beat Noveria and Feros so far.

On a side note, I still don't know where to get her at (and I don't really much care). Sides', no specific party member is required for anything. And if that was the case, I wouldn't have gotten this far with my Lancer III (Assault Rifle) and my Scorpion IV (Heavy Armor).

Liara (asari chick) is basically essential to beat the game. Her biotics are insanely handy.
Unless you have bitoics yourself, or use that human male. All you need is throw, warp, and barrier.

Certain characters provide different conversations at points in the game.

I'm up to Therum now... but I've got a WIERD problem! Half of the ground textures are black! It's insane! I died thousands of times already... anyone have any suggestions?

[ONTOPIC]Wrex has biotic powers, so I'm alright.

Have you people even used Singularity ONCE? Its a million times better than push or throw. You pretty much NEED it.

Although if you get the ability achivements (use a power 75 times or something) you can add it to any new character you make, including weapon skills. You can only add one extra ability though. So you'd have a soldier with singularity.

I found singularity didn't get good until later levels, and by that time I don't really need anything besides my gun. The weapons get too good, and enemies don't scale.

I'm up to Ilos now. And yep, I so got it on with Ashley.

I've gotten Tsunami IV and V's for my team. Oddly enough, Tsunami IV is stronger than V. Combined with the Chemical Rounds III, we're pretty much unstoppable.

Edit: Oh, and I fixed my problem.

The Tsunami IV does roughly... 240 damage, overheats MUCH less than other assault rifles, and when it does heat up, it goes down very fast. All in all, an ownage weapon. Got it at Vermire.

Edit2: And I never used Singularity. I just got Liara, but I'm still owning with Wrex and Ashley. Wrex doesn't have Singularity.

Never found Spectre gear...

I only give my squadmates Assault Rifles. I've used the Shotgun and Sniper Rifle myself, however. Sniper Rifle for long-ranged engagements (duh), and the Shotgun against Husks and similar enemies.

Sell everything you pick up except the stuff you're wearing. Eventually you'll reach a million credits, and then you can buy the spectre weapons, which are godly. After that you start getting even more money and wind up at 9,999,999 credits.
One of the big flaws in the game. I guess they never played Fable. :p

Believe it or not, I didn't figure out how to sell until the middle of my game. I'm up to Ilos now, but I made a new (and better looking) character I'ma play through. And you know something? It might be repetitive, but it sure as hell is fun, especially when I get teased by my beloved Ashley.

I actually continued. I'm up to the Citadel for the final showdown. I already know what's going to happen, so yeah... Reach the top, kill/convince Saren, order the Normandy to help out in some form, watch a nice cutscene, etc.

The first time round I tackled the main quest first. The second time I plan on exploring to the last planet before heading to Vermire and then Ilos.

Yeah.. I hate to burst your bubble, but there really is zero free roam/exploration fun in Mass Effect. You follow the main storyline, and thats the fun part.

The rest are boring generic quests, and every single planet you can land on is just a different colored square map of dirt and hills.

It does have re playability though, different classes and being good and evil. And making different decisions.

You obviously never played Mass Effect to believe that it's "boring". All of the planets are different in every way.

Now thats a wrong sentence. Most of planets are in fact the same with some differention with texture, some planets have quests also. If they had did more planets with different style that is not connected to the main quest this game would've own much more.

Mass Effect is the best RPG ever. Nuff' said.

On a side note, I just beat the game. Saved the Council, put Captain Anderson as the new Council member, and got the Paragon ending. Yay me!

The main story planets are all different, but the side missions have barely any variety. They're all just textured pointy hills with a few objects to look at and one small objective. The objectives are the only variation, and they don't change that much. The buildings are all pretty much built the same, and there are only a few different enemies.

It's a good rpg, but not the best.

It's definitely the best RPG I've ever played, and I've played lots of the "top notch" ones. It even beats KotOR (which isn't strange, considering the creators of Mass Effect are the creators of KotOR as well).
