Ally colour filtering?

Whats the ally colour filtering action good for? :?

if there are about 12 players so there are 12 colors. hard to find your ally then if there are many units. here comes the ally-color-filter into play. it makes all your allies teal-colored and enemies red.

ah yes, I once thought that it was a bug (with the teal and red) when I excidently pushed that button -.-
