The .wtg file holds the data for the GUI triggers. (not the actual JASS script it is compiled to, just the trigger information for the editor)
Using an MPQ editor, you can import a blank war3map.wtg file into your map. It will either make the map unable to be loaded from the editor, or it might alter how the editor views the triggers. (or whether the triggers function, I forgot)
Generally, most people use that as a map protection method, so that the map triggers won't be modified. However, I recommend that you just use Vexorian's Map Optimizer if you need map protection. Using the .wtg method alone isn't very reliable in terms of protection.
