Warhammer 40000 Dawn Of War

This bundle is marked as useful / simple. Simplicity is bliss, low effort and/or may contain minor bugs.
I was browsing through Warhammer 40K maps when i found out how little maps are there and not all the models were used for the right units so i created this map myself ( I have no team alright D: ) i used the correct models for nearly 95% models and added some of my own, i could'nt use the correct models for the Orks because i could'nt find any. Thanks to Mr. Bob, Mechanical Man, Burning Dragoon5, Pyramid He@d, Suselishe, Ket and General Frank for their models and to Hive Workshop :D

I will test purely out of love for Wharhammer 40k game series. Also, i agree there are too few Warhammer 40k maps out there.

Strictly for the respect of other members, moderators and players I would insist upon a better map description:

1.) Start out by stating what the map objective is. Wanted more Warhammer games is fine but none will catch on without a point. Is the point of making and playing this game to defend an area? Fend off the orcs/tyranids/necrons/etc.? Do you build creeps to destroy all who oppose you?

2.) List the races. For people like me who have played the Dawn of War games and tried the Warhammer 40k figurine game know what the races are. But the noob in the far left corner, ((yeah i'm talking about you!)) , doesn't know who the crap we're talking about. Give description of each race, strengths and weaknessess, and heroes.

3.) Theres another thing list heroes, if have special skills list them.

4.) I know its annoying haveing everyone breath down your back about screenshots but they really do help. For people who have horrible imaginations you gotta give them the picture, literally.


P.S. - I hope this map turns out well, for as little i know about it I truely want a Warhammer 40k map to catch on for once.

This map is poorly executed, and while testing it, I couldn't help but think you were ripping off all the rip-offs of the original Helm's Deep map (ironically where there are 4 Orc players besieging the Humans from the bottom side of the map).

You say you don't have a team like you need an excuse for something. That's definitely not good for promotion. And besides, you don't need a team to make a good map. Look at Illidan(Evil)x (bad example, as he is superman, but you get my point).

Reasons why your description is bad yet accurately outlines the flaws with your map:
- You make the excuse of not having a team quick off the mark (already said this one before, but it's worth mentioning twice).
- You say you used 95% correct models for your project as if this was your entire aim (focus on the gameplay a little more in future yea?)
- Despite saying you used 95% correct models for your project, you say you couldn't find any correct Ork models. You only had Orks, Space Marines and Imperial Guards (once again basing your entire gameplay off of the models available with the exception of the Orks. And besides which, what's wrong with General Frank's Space Orc models?)

Now, another issue I had with your map which I immediately noticed is that you used skin textures for icons. They do not make good icons. And to make matters worse, you used the same skin icon for like 6 of the Orc units. I didn't play Space Marines or Imperial Guard, but I'm assuming you've done something similar for these, too. It is not good at all, use icons in the future (there's a whole section just for them on this site).

1/5 and voting for rejection, this is unacceptable, but does not mean you can't learn from this. Is this your first map submition?

Consequently, I believe nothing is wrong with his Space Orc models but i do have to say that haveing that model as 3/4 of the orcs ONLY modeled units is quite boring.

Your prediction proved quite true. Most of the icons for units on both sides is just skin textures.

Details:
1st things first, the builders are unbearable slow and above that they have too many obstacles going around the map. Also make them worth 0 food.

I want to point out that the holy Contraption is F'ing awsome, but there is no point to it. I have never seen something like it in any 40k games and you should make it so only one is allowed so make food limit 4. Also give it a skill, it IS a super-impowered ancient device of untold uses...

How do you get wood? Having the Holy Contraption there is pointless without a way to get it. And also in map description it says you can harvest gold, remove it unless harvesting gold is an option.

Back to units --
1st - The fire prism is NOT a space marine or imperial gurad unit, it belongs to the Eldar.

2nd - The slugga boyz melee attack is close range gun fire, i suggest changing that if you can.

3rd - When drop pod's die they take off? I would believe thats how they're built by droping down.

4th - The hero names are dreadfull, Orc Basher? Heavy? the VRD something something something?

5th - The 'Heavy' Space marine commander starts out with all skills.

6th - The elite commander, make it so he can only get Orbital Bombardment at a higher level.

7th - Only allow one hero.

8th - The Lemon Russ Tank/Artillery Tower needs longer range. It IS artillery after all.

9th - POSSIBLY add the grey knight.

10th - Where did the Gold Knights come from, granted the model is good and I like the idea, but they are the last defenders of the God Emporer? Make them stronger, they're killed easily.

11th - The deathsequence of the Hellfire dreadnought is in slow motion with nothing special. Add explosions to all dreadnought deaths.

12th - Some units body's stay for about 2 minutes after death:
Hellfire Dreadnought
Venerable Dreadnought (after the death sequence it stands back up then stays)
Dreadnought
Holy Contraption

13th - The venerable dreadnought does not have ANY run or attack sequences.

14th - The Elite Force Commander looks like a Ghost from Starcraft, Either that or he/she looks like an Eldar.

15th - The Fire Prism's attack is boring, add a flying laser or the spinwash effect like with the heavy plasma bolter's attack.

16th - The altar for something heroes on both sids needs to be either invulnerable or buildable.

17th - Why do the orcs have a Moon Rover as an Anti-Infantry Vehicle?

18th - When the 'Moon Rover' dies it sinks fast, comes back up and then sinks in slow motion.

19th - I do so largely enjoy that you put the Defiler in, but it's a possessed Vehicle, they can't be captured or Hi-Jacked as they cannot be driven.

20th - The defiler's death is the same as the Moon Rover's it sinks comes back and sinks again.

21st - Need models for Big Mek and the Warboss

22nd - Make the Squiggoth a transport as in the Dawn of War games.

Other than units, Possibly add the choice of races, like Eldar or the Chaos Space Marines.

Add an Item Shop. Whats the point of an inventory for all the heroes if there are no items.

You need Credits for models and such in the quests tab. Letting this map out on Battle.net is an immpossibility because of such things.

This is off-topic but i really want to know who made the Holy Contraption model that guy is Freaking Good with models.
