Mitula's Seal


-After Skysong Clan has fallen under corruption, together with Malaku trolls sieged and vanished Earthsong Fortress.
In the heat of the siege, Skabuz, warchief of earthsong has sent his wife and his child Rogan in escort of Elder Thazz to find new lands for living.
So Years have passed and Rogan has grown, demonic power of corruption was growing to outstanding limits...Game starts when Rogan begins to train his spiritual ways at Elder Thazz, step by step your main hero will learn all spells, but ranks will have to be bought for ability points (lumber) which can be droped by certain mobs.
Ability points runes are not % drop, and are not triggered, those drops or quest rewards are unique and cannot be repeated, amount of total ability points that can be collected is equal to amount needed to train all spell ranks. So you will have to kill all mobs sadly :)
On the way to discover roots of evil, Rogan faces godess Mitula and Oracle who are giving him help, but also he faces evil minions of Dark Lord Kazin, and Voodoo Lord of Medani Tribe.
There is also an arena event, which comes as a quest but can be entered without it, that presents source of gold income, for 500 gold as winner you will take 1500 gold and fill your bags with potions.

Overall difficulty is easy, uber easy actually, but i hope you will have fun following story and completing quests. Cinematics have to be read, cant be skiped, thats only way i had to increase your game time, and make you sit on chair :) Hope you will not mind that.


As you can see i havent place credits, this time, i feel terrible hard to dig in map looking for authors of some imported stuff. But however, credits are given in game, as an option at start you can chose to read credit list before starting game, or watching intro cinematic, which is only skipable cinematic in whole game.

Critical error that was caused by dying at certain regions has been fixed, you can die where ever now.

Agai's stand victory animation replaced with stand work (during turn her second cinematic).

Changed way how first boss (elemental of earth) preforms his summon ability, now it is on hit event with 7 seconds cooldown, spawns will last 3.5 seconds. His slam ability has been removed because of small freezes at cast point, it has been replaced with endurance aura and additional 75 hp.

Models of shield and second earthsong blade have been scaled to 40% of their previous sizes, they seem to be alright now.

Cameras at regions have been modified to change every time you enter those regions, so its almost like it was in first version if you will not like the camera you can adjust it yourself.

Outdoor soundtrack, will be probably less present now, since it will play only when you enter earthsong village, otherwise last played track will repeat itself, until i find several new tracks to replace those and make some sound system.

Totem spell has been removed from Medani berserkers and their high shamans, again it was causing errors. New spell has been added, not yet tested but it should work properly.

Item added to MC Profit, Drums of War, which will increase armor by 3 and attack speed by 50% for 15 seconds. 30 seconds cooldown.

Aragnia's combat should be finally fixed, so you can chose your way to end game as good or bad Rogan, tho Rogan is bad, bad bad, as you will find out in third part.

Critical error caused by fighting troll caster is fixed, hopefully.
Damage damage output of earthen spawns (first boss) increased by somewhere around 8%.

unbelieveable cool !!!! played about 20min so far and it rocks !!!! i didnt really play the first earthsong part because it got bit confusing but of course i will do that after i finished this !!! im gonna give u a review when im done.. jipppppieee !!!!! love your maps !!!
 
I've played it for about 10 minutes:
  • No lobby map description
  • The loading screen's quality is really low, convert a bigger picture and something less shiny
  • The kid in the beginning is way too small
  • A lot of typos (btw revenge is not a verb -> to avenge)
  • Heart Strike doesn't have an animation
  • No quest log with credits
  • Are the icons also made by you or have you forgotten to credit the authors?
  • The ability points icon (lumber icon) looks like a brain (if it's supposed to then it's rather weird)
  • Some of the dialogue has a too short timer
  • Skinning should have a passive icon
  • Bad quest descriptions, I actually don't know what I'm supposed to do for the second quest

when i try to put silver leaf from the inventory of xaru to backpack the backpack get a green point but the leaf does not move of the inventory of xaru

Hi map author, I have played some of it, and I just want to thank you very much for giving us the ability to remove cam lock.
I cannot play RPG maps with camlock.

Aside from that, it seems really good so far, I am enjoying it a lot :)

Ok, go east, once you have come to some kind of crossing continue forward and you will find your self up on a hill, follow it to south kill few tigers and on the end of passage you will find blue runic switch, and next thing you should do is report to Thazz, before passing gate, do another thazz's quest for "wrath of elements" ability that one will pull you out.

Btw north from that crossing point is hidden small passage to tauren camp, no quest nothing, but a vendor with advanced potions and special mace. Ment for Xaru if you find it.
Missing Blacksmith quest, is optional but should be done however afterwards you can buy "blade of earthsong" for 95 gold and in fort dam reforge same blade to make it much more powerfull.

How do you use the backpack? Was it explained early and I missed it? This isn't obvious (at least to me)...perhaps information like that should be stored in the Quests Menu?
 
Nice map but the cam lock can be a bit annoying at times. Maybe you can change the way the backpack works - not with the keys or the camera lock option enables if in backmode or something. Also... I haven't played this all the way through but maybe a hero respawn system would be nice.

Edit: there is a glitch in the inventory system - when I move items from the secondary charters inventory to the backpack the icon in the backpack goes blank and the name is unreadable. Maybe you could make 2 separate inventories for each charter. Also maybe add cinematic skipping. And definitely needs a new loading screen! 4/5 for now keep up the good work.

Double right click, or right + left click

Maybe you can change the way the backpack works - not with the keys or the camera lock option enables if in backmode or something.
Inventory is currently only for main hero, xaru is just back up.
I want to get rid of that multiboard inventory but first need an idea how to make it, i was thinking of something like bank where players can teleport but then have to add some combat system so you cant run from combat.
If nothing, Xaru's multiboard will be added. Just cant say when, since i got little tired of it.
New inventory will fix camera also, yes.

About respawn, map is short and its easy actually, if somewhere in future i decide to expand it i will add respawning system.

New loading screen will be sooner, waiting on that friend at skype to send him some images that i would like to be worked.
So i placed preview screen as loading to shine a little :)

I go east from the main small starting town, and it just takes me some places that have dead ends... one gate I have opened already, and there is nothing there but a big rock with red lines on it :/

I just got to an impossible area. It's the dungeon with the undead orcs and heretics. First of all the green fog in there is impossible to see through...the only way is to roll the mouse (which rotates the camera in) but then the walls block your vision.
Anyway, I think this area would be totally doable, except that my passive skill that heals health and mana every 5 seconds when I'm hit...stopped working when it got to level 5. I'm level 21, have a bunch of items and a stack of 38 minor healing potions and this area just slaughters me without my passive heal. I'll try again with a bigger stack of potions (this time mana and health, now that I know how the backpack works)...I really hope my passive turns back on at some point.

Hi. I actually managed to beat the game on the old version despite my ability not working, the fog being really thick, and not regaining control of xaru. How did I do it? With 2 stacks of healing and mana potions 99 charges deep!! On all 3 of the last bosses I couldn't even hope to face them, but I was able to beat them with a cheap-o....I charged in, unloaded all my spells and ran out....drink several potions and repeat.

I think this is a bug, by the way...in the dungeon where you lose Xaru and you face a shaman (is that your father?) you lose control of your hero for about 10-15 seconds. I'm guessing that this is supposed to be a cinematic, but there was no cinematic...just no control. maybe you forgot to turn cinematic mode on?

Anyway, that shaman boss is WAYYYY too hard. He has a blue spell of some kind that perma-stuns and kills me in about 2-3 seconds. Of course, he still fell to my unload spells and run strategy.

Overall this was a very good map. I have lots of balance suggestions, now that I've beat it. Let me know if you'd like to hear them.

Here is another bug: When I completed the mithril quest in the troll village, I went back to the blacksmith (Mike?). He has 2 items you can buy: an upgrade and an actual item.

When I bought the upgrade it refunded my money (I think), and said that I didn't have the item yet...except I did have the item...it was on Xaru.

Anyway, the bug was the after that I lost the option to repurchase the upgrade on the weapon. You should change it to correctly upgrade the item if Xaru has it or it's in your backpack...either that or make sure you can re-buy it when it fails.

Mitra's Gravel Bug

another potential bug: I went to the Tauren Village and bought the "Mitra's Gravel" item. It said it was supposed to have a 20% chance to do bonus damage and some ability or other, but as far as I can tell that ability never triggered.

Is the Tauren village going to play a role later in the game?

Recipe Bug...maybe

Another possible bug: I was making items from the recipes...I tried to make one thing and it gave me another...at least the name was slightly different. It gave me a charged potion that increases stats by 30 each for 10 seconds....possibly this is correct, but then later it wouldn't let me make another item that I thought required this....did I make something that I didn't have a recipe for?

It was all fixed before, mitula's gravel was never buggy just no special effect, now i have added one and that item reforge, that was bug yes, thanks for discovering it will be replaced after hero without blade tries to reforge.

Updating right now... download and try again in 10 mins

i found another bug (i think) when i go to the quest of kill the vodoo lord and enter in the "altar" or whatever that is and kill the trolls of the ---> the vodoo lord spawn twice

You're right, a lot of things I reported were already fixed!! I just played through the map again in the new version. It went more than twice as fast this time, because I knew what order to do things, and I also knew that it's good to buy some potions and just power forward because they are so cheap.

I gotta say, the map got A LOT better with just a few of those updates that you made. Everything felt smoother, etc.

Also...Wow!! The combo with the strength passive (extra damage), plus heart-strike (minus armor), plus elemental stomp thing (x3 damage) kills anything really really fast. When the full combo is on, you do about 450-550 damage per hit and get about 3 hits off. It kills any unit, and also destroys bosses.

Some New Bugs

When you buy your skills for the Shaman (main character) they disappear correctly when you max them out. However, (at least for the healing spell on the orc lady), I maxed it out and it didn't disappear...so it was still purchasable...I lost 2 lumber this way...the ability stayed level 5, but the lumber was still spent.

There are some missing pathing blockers from some rocks (between the temple area and the rest of the tiger area). I was able to walk right through. Not really a bug, but you might want to add them.

The green fog is much much better...however halfway through the first fog dungeon, the fog just disappeared...not a bug exactly, but I'm guessing it was unintentional.

There are a few items that don't show up on the "backpack." I'm guessing these are mostly new items (like the potion of rejuvenation).

Some Balance Suggestions

For a lot of your skills, it's actually not worth it to level them up, because you are increasing the damage, but also the mana, while the effects are mostly staying the same. For example, the elemental blast skill give you the 3x damage, which (at least if you have the strength passive) is much better than the extra damage. I intentionally didn't level that skill because it actually gets worse with levels (since it drains your mana a lot faster).

OK....that might be pushing it, but for that skill, I would suggest also scaling some of the other things in the ability. For example, maybe Level 1-3 gives you double damage for 4 seconds, and 4-5 gives you triple damage for 6 seconds...then it's definitely worth leveling up.

In general the entire map is much too easy with the exception of a few areas. The troll village area is very very good. The areas after you "go north" are also pretty good, although the only real challenge was the troll village, to be honest, and the final boss, which you made a lot better (good job increasing the casting rate of his fire spell, and adding that green blast thing which killed me). One problem is that you get about 3/4 or more of your skill points at the troll village. In later versions, you should spread this out a little better. After all, you don't really want to walk all the way back to the orc village, so you end up having like 19 skill points as you beat the troll area, and then you buy everything at once and then go north. If that's how you want it, fine, but maybe a more gradual progression is better?

Part of what makes the troll area great is the spells. Hex and chain lighting are both really good, because they disable your main guy, plus they do some damage to your healer. If she can always stay in back healing and never get hurt, then the map is too easy. It's good to work in things that damage both characters (like the chain lightning, or the wave thing the murloc boss shoots).

Overall, I'd say aside say the order to fix things from here is:
1) any bugs that are reported
2) make the dialogue easier to understand (and quests, too)
3) add into the quest menu instructions on how to use the backpack
4) make the monsters more interesting.

For 4), the trolls are already perfect. The area north is pretty good. I would add maybe a low damage death coil to the smaller heretics and perhaps a medium damage, long cooldown carrion swarm to the top level heretics. Perhaps a fire spells like breath of fire or flamestrike to the hell beasts. The wolves, tigers and mammoths are all boring. Their abilities are some kind of bash, so you just sit there beating on them. I don't know how to fix this really, though, as those guys are kind of there to be farmed for skins.
I would make the bandits a little harder...give them an ability or two...maybe the bandit leader gets shadow strike, or stomp.

Anyways, this map is great! Keep improving it!!!!

Potions

I really like the stacking potion system, but right now potions could be balanced a little better.

I think the general problem is that potions are a little too cheap, a little too weak, and you can re-use them too quickly.

Right now they are so cheap you can buy huge stacks of them and the cooldown to re-drink them is very fast. Early game this makes you invulnerable. Mid game the weaker potions become useless (maybe once you hit level 10, have them not drop anymore from tigers and wolves?) Late game the minor potions become useless (also get them to stop dropping, maybe when you hit level 15?). The thing is, they are sooo cheap you can buy as many as you want at will, and once you hit about level 15 the minor potions aren't that good anymore.

It's tricky....I think late game the % drop rate of regular potions is a bit too high. I think you raised it in the last update because it was too low before, but now there are too many. I think it's good to keep the rate pretty high, especially because it allows the characters to keep pressing forward instead of running back to town. The area where it should be higher is the dungeon where you don't have Maru (whatever her name is)...Since you have no healing...if you don't know that dungeon is coming on your first run through, you can get stuck with not enough recharge. I would lower it slightly, though, in the final tower dungeon. Potions were dropping there faster than I could use them.

I think the maybe one thing to try is....increase the cost of potions to 20 gold / 40 gold for minor / lesser potions...this way you can't spam them the same way. At the same time, increase the chance that they drop randomly....maybe by only 5-10% in the starting area, and maybe 10-15% in the middle area. At the same time, if you aren't buying potions, you need to add more things to buy from the goblins. I really liked the "goblin cheese" and "goblin grape juice" idea. I would add more items like that....maybe add two like that to the alchemist in the starting town...and increase the prices of them. Decrease slightly the price of that ultimate axe....

Anyways...these balance things you have to play with the see what works best. Right now I just feel like there aren't quite enough things to buy, but at the same time potions are so cheap you are just flooded with them.

There is also Xaru's spell trainer, in same earthsong village at place where you see rogan for first time. There is also spawned alchemist vendor, after you finish first dungeon.

hey, i really enjoyed playing, very nice mon ! this is what i find a bit faulty:

-heart strike has No animation at first
-i died at the first quest (oops!) but after that 2 reincarnation timer appeard and didnt dissapear and stay at 00:00:00.
-after closing the backpack the camera gets locked!
-some dialoges are quite too short to read relaxed
-the camera changes are very abrupt and many times with no sense
-when completing the optional quest there may be a text
-i think the bandits and other spawn too fast, didnt even kill the boss and the other two respawn twice
i upgraded wraith of elements, so rogan should get 80% critical -> seems this doesnt work .. ahh ok just for 5 seconds =)
-backpack is annoying when open it in locked camera, its shivering
-the quest "summon medani voodoo lord" gets 2 times complete, everytime u kill the two orcs on the sides of the temple. in the questlog the part of the quest "slay malagazzi" gets completed when kill the 2nd orc, and another time when really killing him.

Fixed everything, hopefully trolls too :D wrath of elements is 7 seconds now, just removed it from tooltip.
And yes im starting new project but some pvp this time, resources will be gatherable via 2 check points those could be conquerable, main goal will be to get some flag few times, from center to your base, or something else need to get some ideas first.
 
I see in the update log you have made some of my suggestions. I will test it again...

Ok, so I did a quick test. Good job with the dialog selection at the beginning of the map I also see you made a new loading screen. Unlocking the game camera was nice. (some in-game tips how to change the cam mode will nice). There is one minor thing - when I select "Game" ( I don't know if in the other mode is still the same) the area of the first cinematic stays revealed with all the dummy units. I'm not a fan of the new inventory system but I think it's a bit better than last one.

Hey map maker, after your latest update, there is no animation for Grace Of Earth healing ability. What happened to that ?

*Mutila's Gravel does not heal 400 hp over 10 seconds as it says :(

to kill the bandits, that they keep respawning and you dont have enough time

* Now the trolls are impossible!! When I get to the entrance of the fort, 4 trolls attack me and die in 5 seconds, wtf??
