Life of Hogwarts V. 1.1

This bundle is marked as useful / simple. Simplicity is bliss, low effort and/or may contain minor bugs.
An old map that I have been working on for a long time ago, it was only credits that wasn't finished, which I made now.

Originally, it was going to be several cinematic in this theme, maybe I do one more during the summer holiday, but I had to little time, way to much in school.

So now, I give you Life of Hogwarts - Part 1. It's about Harry Potter and his friends at Hogwarts, with some moments from the movies and a little story line that I made myself. It includes many models and skins, some which I have modified (with permission of course) and a Harry Potter theme, so you will get even more closer to the world of Harry Potter.

I hope you will enjoy it! If you got any ideas of how to improve the cinematic, pllz share!

V. 1.0 ~ Uploaded the cinematic.
V. 1.1 ~ Made the introduction a bit slower and improved the battle scene.

* I will fix the Voman Villager skin so that Luna and Hermione don't looks so strange in their faces

Haha a Harry Potter cinematic. Interesting concept! I'll give a quick review cos I's a little busy atm:

TERRAIN:
Had some very nice settings, such as the floating candles and the stairways. Though they could've used a bit more work though, terrain was alright overall.

3/5

CAMERA:
The camera was a bit too fast and disjointed, particularly at the beginning when you're showing the castle. Slow it down a bit, try to make it a little smoother. Overall was average too

3/5

ACTION:
The fight scene was a little lacking too, some ok special effects, but all up just slow and robotic, Harry casts a spell, then Draco, etc. Neitherof them really reacted to the other's spell and it wasn't very exciting. Needs some work too

2/5

AUDIO:
Well the music at the start was alright, then no more music til the credits? And little sound effects too, the quiet throughout the majority of the cinematic made it feel a little dull.

2/5

MODELS:
Very nice models and choice of models, not much else to say hehe.

4/5

EXTRA:
Your grammar is just a little off, a few phrases here and there weren't correct, but overall it wasn't too bad. Also, add an ecape feature, so people can stop the cinematic when they press escape. Very annoying when cinematics don't have this lol.

All up it was an interesting idea, credit for making a Harry Potter cinematic :). Still needs work though, cinematic wasn't terrible but was fairly lacking overall. I'd give it 2.5/5

Best of luck for future projects!

Here's my review on this cinematic:
Life of Hogwarts

When I opened the map Via World Editor, I was a little confused. IT was tiny, and the terrain was bad. I thought: "the terrain is bad, and so will be the cinematic." But I was wrong. The cinematic was quite amusing, as it was only a minute and a half long, I think. well, here's the review:

-factors:
You did a horrible job on the terrain, which is a very important aspect of any cinematic. You should use all the Tiles, not just grass, dirt, and square tiles. You should fix that.
Overall:
1 / 10
Biggest influence:
The biggest influence on your Mark are the Tiles. Use all of them.

+factors:
The camera is good positioned. Not much to say more than that.
-factors:
The camera transitions are too fast (for the beggining). Try using instead of 1 second something more, like 2 or 3.
Overall:
5 / 10
Biggest influence:
The biggest influence made the camera transitions. Make them smoother, and then it should be better.

+factors:
The triggers aren't too complex, which isn't good nor bad. The good thing are the spells, you did them really good. The "talking" isn't bad too.
-factors:
The triggers aren't too complex, which isn't good nor bad.
Overall:
6 / 10
Biggest influence:
The biggest influence are the spells. They are quite good executed, and aren't boring.

+factors:
The music is good, and well executed with the ambient of the scene, still... not too good.
-factors:
The music would enhance the mood even better if you executed the camera a little better.
Overall:
6 / 10
Biggest influence:
Well, I love the intro, and the music fits with it. IT could be better if you made the camera transitions the way I said.

+factors:
The credits make this cinematic stand out for some reason. They aren't the boring credits we see all day, and they are giving everything they need to give. So, by saying that, you should know that the credits are great.
Overall:
10 / 10
Biggest influence:
All there is in the credits. I LOVE the joke about the part you forgot the names of the creators.

OVERALL:
(Terrain + Camera + Triggers + Music + Credits) / 5
0-3 (Bad)
This cinematic isn't recommended to be watched. It is boring.
3.1-5 (Solid)
This cinematic is ok, with some issues. Can be fun.
5.1-7 (Good)
This cinematic is recommended to be watched. It is real fun.
7.1-9 (Great)
This cinematic is better than most good cinematics. It takes fun to a new level.
9.1-10 (Legendary)
This cinematic is a must-download. One of the greatest. The fun factor goes over the cap.

This cinematic, In overall, has the 5.6 / 10 score, which makes it a Good cinematic. Could be improved with the terrain and the triggers a little.

Thx for ur review! I agree that the camera maybe goes a bit to fast in the beginning, I will look at it! About the "ACTION", I suppose I was to lazy to do much more on that, and I still am, but that doesn't mean that I don't agree ;)
After the HP-theme in the start I use a wc3 theme with only 50 % volume, because I don't want you to focus on a theme that isn't from HP, but maybe I should still raise the volume?

Yay, a second review :D

I don't really understand what u mean with the terrain... Why should I use a tile that doesn't fit, and it doesn't look so bad that u should give me 1/10 for that :/
I will fix the camera speed, like I answered on the other review :)
About triggers, I must say that I am not really good with them, and I probably make a lot of detours, but I just create cinematics for fun and am just happy if it does like I wanted it to do!
Thx for being so positive about the credits :)

But shouldn't my cinematic be a "good" cinematic, cause u gave it 5.6 points and that is more than 5.1!

Thank you both again for ur reviews, its always funny to read!

Life of Hogwarts was a cinematic by Jack_Sparrow93 are all about Harry Potter and his friends at Hogwarts.

At the beginning of the cinematic, it already given me the impression of "Ow!! My eyes!!" when I look at the white loading screen which are an complete pain to my eyes.

Next comes the terrain, the entire inner building are complete snores city (In other word, "Boring"). It could use a much better interior decoration instead of leaving much of the necessary place completely empty.

You could use lighting effect to make the room darker to add a better realism since the room was light by a candle.

Camera are definitely at his worst conditions, it have several poor angle and choppy movements. Infact, the camera often frozen way too long (It isn't recommend to froze a camera especially when a conversation between 2 person for a very long duration). and moving rapidly when it was completely unnecessary.

Next is the battle scene which makes the bigger part of the cinematic, it was complete snore, boring and terrible (No offense intended). It was more like a training ground where people attack a dummy or mannequin.

When one unit attack, another player would quickly retaliate either by dodge or counter attack it and not standing still to be hit by it. This is what I seen in this cinematic just like many other battle cinematic I ever watch.

This can be seen clearly when protego was cast, both unit standing still for couple of seconds before one of them cast spells.

The music was suddenly stop dead for no reasons and there is way too many typo errors.

For cinematic that last that short, it seems to be done in haste and thus rendering his quality to be extremely low. To conclude it, this cinematic are currently not worth to watch as the battle scene which are the main scene of this cinematic isn't done pretty well to vow the heart of audiences.

This cinematic could be approve with rating 2/5 (Lacking) but I don't think this is a wise idea as it could discourage the author from improving his work.

In my opinion, I decided to vote this map 1/5 (Unacceptable) and Rejected Till Update.

Why?

1) The quality control at hive site are recently much tight and stricter in comparison with last years.

2) This cinematic was done way too hastily as it can be seen from the poor camera, typo errors and terrains.

3) The battle scene which are the main part of the cinematic isn't impressive and a complete lemon; which certainly need to work on.

u forgot to mention he didnt give JK rowling any credit for her harry potter books

Hmmm another cinematic by you, let me check it.
Edit: eh..... Is this supposed to be a harry potter cinematic?
jack, the models don't fit at all, there is no lotr music, the duel was badly done, the terrain.....? And then the dialogues?
This is obviously not as good as your first cinematic, you need to delete this from the maps section and work on it a lot more.

I agree about the most things, but what do u mean with a white loadingscreen? Its a pic of Hogwarts :S

Second, I am not so skilled with indoor terrain, and I would like to know what I could add to make it look better, especially if its only worth 1/5.

I got some problems with the dialogues, cant make them attack directely after they have said smth...

The music was stopped because I thought it wouldn't fitt anymore when Harry came to Filch, but then theres a wc3 theme, which plays on a lower volume, because I don't think it is so important.

As I said earlier, I made this a long time ago (dunno if I even started on this one before my first cinematic I published) and finnished it now and I just tried to finnish it so I could publish it. I haven't had time working very much on it now, especially because I haven't got so much time anymore :(

Thx for ur critism!
