New Races Project [v1.0.2]

This bundle is marked as useful / simple. Simplicity is bliss, low effort and/or may contain minor bugs.
Hi everyone :p

I've often seen lot of maps with new races added, cool, but I was bored of the multiple bugs, non-esthetic materials/icons, icons which absolutely doesn't match with their unit. I recently wanted to make myself a Blood Elf race, so I searched, searched and researched correct models for my units, I think it's the most boring step. Now I present you my New Races project, with derivatives races from the originals, but unique to play.



The Blood Elfs


The Blood Elfs, formerly the High-Elfs, are the force of the great capital Silvermoon City. They have a powerful magic mastery, but are also efficients in countering it.

Primary structure, used to train Workers and receive gathered resources. Can be upgraded to Spire and then Citadel to enable the production of additional types of structures and units.

Summons Heroes. Revives slain Heroes.

Primary troop production building. Trains Archers, Lynx Riders and Lieutenants. Also contains the Animal War Training, Defend, Improved Bows, Marksmanship and Sun Glaive upgrades.

Provides food, which increases the maximum number of units that can be trained.

Contains the attack and armor upgrades for all units.

Serves as a drop-off point for harvested lumber. Also contains the upgrades for Lumber Harvesting and Masonry.

Trains Priests, Sorceresses, and Spell Breakers. Also contains spell upgrades for Priests and Sorceresses, Control Magic, and Magic Sentry.

Scout Tower:
Basic observation tower. Has no attack, but can be upgraded into a Guard Tower, an Earth-Fury Tower, or a Sky-Fury Tower. Can learn the Magic Sentry ability.

Guard Tower:
Primary defensive structure. Can learn the Magic Sentry ability. Attacks land and air units.

Earth-Fury Tower:
Powerful ground defensive structure. Can learn the Magic Sentry ability. Attacks land units.

Sky-Fury Tower:
Powerful air defensive structure. Can learn the Magic Sentry ability. Attacks air units.

A shop with purchasable items. The items available depend upon what level of upgrade your Town Hall has (Town Hall, Spire, or Citadel) and which buildings you have.

What's changed in Humans ?

Now Blood Elf are an entire and unique race, they are independant of the humans, so I changed some buildings and units in the Human race. I also made sure that the AI work correctly with this changement. :D

Trains Chaplains, Enchantresses, and Hydromancers. Also contains spell upgrades for Chaplains and Enchantresses, Water Shaping, and Magic Sentry.

The Blood Mage has been replaced by a new hero: the Hunter, you will see.

I'm actually working on Naga and Fel Orc race. After that, I will probably work on Dalaran and Gilnean Humans, Forsakens, and also on Highborne race, if I find correct models :p
Tell me which new race do you want to see and play ?

I will also add unique melee maps, not an original Blizzard's map.

That Mini-Game tag has nothing to do with this. Would you mind hiding the big picture or at least resize it? While I appreciate the lovely finesse in what the visuals are concerned, the techtree just doesn't bring enough novelty to the Altered...

I wish we could have "Alterac" army,like similliar to human race,a mix of horde and alliance units.

I always wanted to create a Murloc race, the only problem is that there is not enough murlocs model in-game and on the Hive... But I though about neutral hostile races, like Bandits, Murlocs, etc... in which there is a bit less buildings and units but still playable. I though too about a Goblin race, simple neutral race where the goal is too trade with other players, and gain a max of gold.

Good luck on that! Also...two things.First.....how about Nation Of Alterac race? The traitor one? Also...someone suggested you a Murloc race and i think that despite not many murloc models there is a way that could be done,if...you are interested in people suggesting things of course.

Welcome to the vaunted ranks of the Race Creators!

Lots to say, but I'm at work, so it'll be short for now... Basically, looking really rather good. Very interested in your decision to modify the *standard* race(s) rather than build your custom race around it.

Don't forget; each faction has 12 units, so you'll need (rather 'get') to add two more units. : )


Also, VERY much want to know what the new Alliance units/abilities are & do.

For the Bandit race, I though about Bandit Ranger, Bandit Lord, and I will see... For the Murloc race I though about Sorceror... But I'm actually working on Naga race, and after that I will work on Fel Orc race. You have to be patient :D

There's no Lynx rider in Blood elf Culture, they ride those giant birds.
The race is a little too much similar to Night elves, Archers and Huntresses, it is like Night elves joined few Blood elves. Nothing has changed.

You should focus on the lore, and make new units, and try to find a balance to get it correctly done.

It's simple for a person who have modeler in her project. I work solo, I need to search corrects models which look like these of Blizzard. It's a derivatives races projects, its not just Blood Elfs, but a lot of races I'm working on. If you read the description... It's a bit complex to find AND blood elfs units in culture AND models which match with it.
And it's a strange way to thank people who help you in your project too...

The problem when changing units is that Human race gamers now must learn to play it again, im making an altered melee too and i just change their models. Same with Nerubians and Undeads.

Sometimes little changes can destroy melee balance but anyways who wants play this map must know it :D

1. Honestly writing, I was expecting it to be less like the Human faction. I mean even the food system is the Human 6 food. I suggest a unique or at least differentiated food system. Why not make the "farms" have an ability which for instance replenishes the Blood Elven units magic addiction?
2. Archers could have other abilities, not most of the Night Elf ones. Same with the Lynx Rider. Maybe you'd want to replace the Moon Glaive with something else.
3. Even the heroes are a combination of Human and Night Elf ones...
4. The only difference between the Guard and Earth-Fury Tower is a bit of their aspect, the 50 HP bonus for the latter and its handicap of not being able to attack air units. That's not enough really. At least add siege attack to it. Same with Sky-Fury, has the least HP, attacks only air and has 100 bonus range. They all can be built from the start.
5. Devour Magic=Growl's icon with different hue.
6. Spell Breakers, Priests, Sorceresses, exactly the same.
7. I also suggest that the Lieutenant's Spell Immunity be enabled by an upgrade. Maybe take Defend out not to be a same spell the Footman has? Otherwise the Footman isn't special anymore.

8. Human is still a mixed faction because of dwarves and gnomes.
9. All Blood Elf towers have Fortified armour while the Human ones have Heavy except for the Canon Tower.
10. I think the items in the shops are identical on both BE and Human. Might want to find another model for the Marketplace to not look like the neutral building.
11. The wizards are too similar to the BE ones.
12. I think Hydromancers should still take 3 food because they can summon an elemental. Also, that kind of kills the Archmage's spell.
13. The Hunter hero has Searing Arrows and Critical Strike seen on two other melee heroes from other factions.
14. Rain of Shells has the hotkey S as the command Stop. It's also Starfall.

It's weird to play as Blood Elf for instance against Night Elf and against Human too because they have duplicate units.

Nightborne v1.03
Planetary Domination v2.04

I'm ok with this. I will work on unique melee maps (made by me) for New Races project. For now it's a sort of beta...

I didn't made changements, I put "v1.0.2" because I already made changements before uploading. I will add changelog for the next update.
