Welcome to Everquest II DISTANT SHORES ver5.3

MANY bugs are fixed now (Including that weird massive bug unabling gameplay)

1) Added 4 new heroes
2) fixed save/load feature (totally differnt, older ver codes will NOT work)

MANY bugs are fixed, and many ideas were used to refix it.

Wow fun.. a working version :D Here are my opinions after some play:

1. 2 hour game limit?? This is not very nice.. especially how there is no warning or timer. But still... this is a bit much to me and will keep a lot of people from playing this map if you cant go idle :/

2. The load system is still a bit fried with respect to gold. You loose sometimes a lot... if this is a percentage.. please give info about it in F9 so that we will know to buy items instead of loose so much gold. Las game i went from 1167 to 820 :(

3. The bug still exists with loading if you dont picka hero first. If this happens, you are stuck at selection screen and cant control the loaded hero.. the only thing you can do at this point is -repick, but then you cant load again so you dont get a valid load. worsely.. if its the host who did it, everyone gets stuck.

4. Another problem is with instant 'ownership' of an item if its touched. People arent aware of it, and grabby ppl cant trade back the item when the realize that it doesnt benefit them.. This happend to me when a cleric took a uber weapon and was embarassed at his grabbiness but he couldnt give it away. My suggestion to fix this problem.... dont place ownership on items until that person does -save. This will also keep people from saving then shareing items to 'dupeing'

5. Ranger:
*Mirror image tooltip is wrong? It says illusions take 1.25% damage, but this maybe 125%?
*There is a visual bug with the countdown for casting mirror image.. it was very confusing at first
*mirror images dont regenerate health at the fountain.
*mirror image fireing strafe seems like it could become too strong at high levels and with good weapon?
*using fire (or ice) arrows causes strafe to gain +1 arrow
Cleric
*he has a lot of heal spells.. maybe he should get one debuff such as slow, reduced armor (aoe) or reduced damage (aoe)

6. Please allow the host to ban people that want to ruin the game.. we had a real jerk on tonite that kept attacking everyone or being generally obnoxious.

7. Please add to set items tooltip to show: Set $NAME$ - part #X of #N

8. I really like what you did with the doors :D

after i choose a hero, and load with my code.. at the same time, another hero is near by me, then the trigger generate and give my item to him! @_@" and i got nothing. cant load again..

plz fix .

but yea. i will do something about that like give a warning, increase time limit or something

okay about your item generating problem, i have no clue how that happenned, but i will look into it when i have the time. (i hope you are familiar with trigger terms)

Anywyas, could you explain what happend? was it because they just loaded their hero, or was it because their hero coincidentally was there?

2)hmm the gold thing is MESSED?!!?.. ai ya, dang =S i tried to fix it ALOT.. and i finally fixed it.. anyways, ediscool, you can abuse the load code anyways, so it doesnt really matter to me. thats why i took many good items from the shops and placed them in the creep killing

3)hmm i thought i covered that problem already. It displays a message saying you cannot load a loadchar code in the selection circle place... but i will look into it once again.

4)icic.. but as you have noticed, a few items have abilities which i do not want people sharing and using them. When i have the time to begin updating and creating a few more heroes, i will attempt to give sharing for a few items (ones w/o abilities)

5)Ranger tooltip is kinda messed its really 125%. but then i just realized i also forgot to place an icon for the research section in bard's ability "moral increase"..so you can see Sam from blizzard as a new twist =]

ranger in high levels is pretty good against mobs. altho strafe is abit half @ssed, i will fix it also. although, im not sure what i am suppose to do.

6) Hmm, i am not sure about that function, say what if the host abuses it? like, asks for load code if not i boot?

1.Id really like to take a look at maps before i host them on bnet.
2.I never saw anyone hosting it on bnet so i guess its rare and maybe people who arent able to host dont want to wait for someone to host it?

he choose a hero and come out when the time i load my character. it happens almost in the same time. when i enter the -load char (code) . i saw my char change level to lv 9, he came out at circle there,then items appear at his slot..

tat means , his hero came out between load of my char and load of the items . then trigger considers his hero is last created unit.

1)concerning time limit read above

---- if you are gonna force this.. please put a timer that is always displayed constantly. if i wanna run to store or go to the bathroom.... it would suck to come back and i am dead now, so my -save will not give me my items, plus i loose anything that dropped. Also.. one major consideration ... if you are questing... since its one LONG linear quest.. 2 hours just doesnt cut it.. ive played tons of 6-8 hour games where we all took a break for 30 mins or so. THis will not give enough time to quest.. to me:/

2) ediscool, you can abuse the load code anyways, so it doesnt really matter to me.

-- sure i could, but cheating is lame ... hehe. you cant hide your trigger code (even tho it maybe quite unreadable in raw format). ppl working hard for gold will get discouraged.. the same applies to LONG time to level versus the save code doesnt save your progress between levels.

4) a few items have abilities which i do not want people sharing and using them.

--- this is a limitation with wc3 to easily do this correctly. what people have done in the past is to not change ownership until one uses -save. this a) ensures a player can transfer NEW items (not loaded) and b) deters cheating by only allowing 1 person to save an item ever.

5)mm visual bug? could you please explain the visual bug?

--- the countdown 'clock' that shows your progress for cooldown, shows that it is completed, when really there are a few seconds remaining. this is just a visual defect, but it honestly took a friend and I a few minutes to recgonize.

5)explain the adding arrows to strafe bug. something about fire/ice arrows.

--- example: ranger gets strafe level 1, it "adds 1 arrow", so when he fires a normal arrow. he hits 2 targets. Now, if he uses fire arrow... he hits 2 targets with normal attacks (strafe) plus an additional third arrow which does fire damage. The same is true when using ice instead of fire.

6) Hmm, i am not sure about that function, say what if the host abuses it? like, asks for load code if not i boot?

--- the majority of people who would have the patience to sit through the time it takes to level in this map have played enough to not be gay. but i see your point; however, if someone is that gay... they would just boot you anyway after you gave them your code. who would fall for that?

7)okay PLEASE explain this part. i have no clue what the Set $NAME$ - part #X of #N means =S

example-
Your name: Arcane Boots of power (part of set)
Proper name: Arcane Boots of power (part 1 of 3 of power set)


This would keep people aware of how many items they should collect of that type and know what the official name of the set is. In the above example.. how would we know if the set name is Arcane or power?

Hi~ lom109 i'm from korea, many korean user have benn expecting your map because EQ1 had played with fun and EQ2 had not updated so long time. but your eq2 distant shores v.5.0 was disappointed by korean user.

because it's very hard for begining user but it's so easy for experienced user who that they had owened many charactors that level is 100!

futhermore, they charactors experienced user had owened were been level-downed to 16~31(from 100 level!). I was happy to hear fact that savecode change, beginning user can play easier, and many bugs were edited.

I played yesterday with hoping mind.

but it's still hard for beginning user, even monotony!

There were only changes that we can gain only leveling easily to 5! and init char's damage have increased. How do you think that game diffifculty change into easier for beginning user but harder for experienced user?

What I sayed for easy for experienced user is not playing or clearing this map but gainning level higher

bugs : ?? strike of shadow Warrior's kill can't cast to enemy also user.

umm I'm wondering why is shadow warrior's start based
on int? Assasin's stat is based on int too but assasin have high init int stat.

I think it should be based on str so shadow warrior can improve their damage. I found, you know, that you intended shadow warrior damage dealer because one of shadow warror's skill added himself 10 damage!

This map is cool!:) excepting for what i sayed now.

I agree with previous post, this game is impossible for starting users. Me and a friend (yes only two of us) gained 5 levels from the dummy bag and tried to go out and level, but that was also near impossible. I tank as a Shaddow Warrior or as a Beserker and him as a Sorceror and we get beat the crap out of. We beat two enemies then run, wait 5 minutes to heal thanks to the fact there is no fountain of healing or anything of the sort in town. So we head to nearest fountain of health and sit there, killing two enemies at a time, healing, repeat.

After 30 minutes of this, we get too bored with the fact that 15 minutes of this monotony results in maybe 1/5th of a level. An hour is tooooooooooo long to gain a single level. I see you reduced enemy damage but they give 4!!! experience per, some less, that's 4, a one digit 4. Not 40, but 4.

Until you make this game possible for people startting at level 1-5, we've stopped.

Also, your new teleport doors are bugged, unless you get lucky then you get teleported back and forth about 4 times, then end up back in town. And enemies can follow you into town, as that's how my friend died.

Are you supposed to drop items on death?

what i want is share item among players.

i really hate that i cant give my extra item to my friend. plz dont put so many limits on items, like undeadboogie's FForpg.. i really hate that.

umm... I do regret to select my char(shadow warrior)

yea, you know, this char is so weak like unbalance..

I learned skills that are Shadow slam, Death strike, and disease cloud each 2level but they are so weak

for example, first, shadow slam damage 25 to enemy when it's 1level, in spite of 2level only damage 27 to enemy. only, 2 increase! :cry:

second, death strike have only increased 1damage to compare with 1level.
:cry:

third, disease clouds(level2) was explained as 0 damage per second.

fourth, explanation of char's stat is different with reality.

Until you make this game possible for people startting at level 1-5, we've stopped.

Ug.. so sick of ppl complaining that this map is too hard!!! Here is my noob guide to getting past level 6:

1. GET 3 OR MORE PEOPLE.
2. ONE PERSON GO CLERIC.
3. LEVEL UP.

EDIT: OK I'm awake now and I've had some ideas!!

* About your pausing the game after 2 hours to keep people from idleing... What if, you instead allowed us to UNPAUSE the game. So now... you keep people from idleing for more than 2 hours and we can play as long as we want :D Just a thought.

* I found a decent piece of armor that gave +10 ac, but it wont load. I have a screenshot if you like. I have had NO other problem with loading (except for below)

* There is definately a major problem with gold being rounded down. I went from 17k to 15.. But this isnt a huge deal.

* Please outline the quest in F9, or at least change tool tip on quest items to read 'Quest Item'

* The doors for quests can be attacked and entered without the key. Same for PVP doors (i guess thats what they are for) in the second town

* This map is too fun.. thanks again for making a better version than previous ones:)

1) i understand. will lengthen the time if the quest is started then =] how about that? The countdown timer sounds good although i thought it may conflict with the single player 60 second one.

2)yea about that.. there isnt realy anything to buy except a hero mount and thats about it... =S hmmm okay so what did u want concerning about the level code anyways.. o_O sorry but i just cant see what is your point right now =S (maybe i will after reading a few times over)

3)sounds good =] nice idea. when -saved unables transfer of items. in the future, this will also apply to bought items.

4)wait.. how come we are talking about a countdown timer clock now.. i thot we were talking about mirror image for ranger...

5)iseeisee, but could u explain how i would be able to stop that? since strafe is quite a mystery to me from the beginning. Whenever it was level1, i found my arrows still hit 8 units.... (if i cant i will simply ditch the strafe ability and think up some replacement)

6)lol ohokay i will impliment the boot system then.... although.. im not quite entirely sure...

7)I kinda cheaped out on the colours since i was kinda lazy in changing colour names. that sounds good the # out of #.. although.. it usually IS out of 3... lol ill make more items for the next version.. maybe a few noob ones too..

you do not really need gold except for buying a mount item.

oh about that. even if the door is destroyed, you cannot finish the quest as all the enemies within it are invulnerable

OH, btw, can you test out the PVP section for me?..i created that in 15 minutes hoping i did not make any mistakes and i havnt played my own map online ever. so i have never tested the pvp or nething in the map either.

no worries okay so you are saying map is too hard? well you are suppose to play with a ton of people (teamwork)

you are not suppose to be fighting users! (PVP is in town but costs 1000gold) check it out.. its bottom right of the map

Assassin stat is int since agility seems too cheap. fast attack and high damage is not good for map if one player can own the map by him/herself.

its weak because its main is Strength. Abilities are weak since later on, it wil become a tanker.
its balanced int he long run.

Secondly i will create a fountain which gives less healing than the actual fountain in the town+city

and finally yes you are suppose to drop items on death.

and PLEASE play with more than TWO players.. honestly 2 player teamwork is teamwork.. but still it does say 5 players are recommended...

Okay, I've never once seen a game of this map hosted on Battle.net, so getting the minimum of 5 people seems... rather impossible. On top of that, neither my friend nor I can host, and we like to play on our own time.

If that's a problem that players want to play at their own leisure without searching out random people on battle.net, you might want to include that. A warning saying "Not for leisurely play" or something.

And even with 3 people, one being a cleric, hell, even with 5 people, leveling would still take forever, sure you can kill more but the experience is less due to the split between the more players. So leveling from 1-8 would STILL take forever. At least more then 2 hours, and if it takes more than 2 hours to reach the double digits, there's something wrong.

Some MMORPG's take that long, ok, most, but this isn't a MMORPG, this is a Warcraft 3 map.

And yes, the fountain in town would be VERY helpful.

Otherwise, iunno, we'll play other RPGs then I guess.

shadow warrior 's shadow slam doewnt slow the creep attack speed and moverate. but it has dmg. and lv3 diease cloud tool tip error,, it show 0 dmg per sec

i know what went wrong. tooltip fixed for next ver already
i will decide whether to lose the complete effect and only damage
or enable damage and enable stun/slow stuff
im not sure whats wrong, but will look into it.

i wil disable split exp then. so then you can all gain the same (higher) amount.

I just played a game with 2 other people. I played level 1 cleric, one played a warrior and the other a wizard. Within 30 minutes we were level 5 or 6, and they were able to start using spells. After another 30 minutes, we were level 13-15 .. The point is (like most orpg before it) you work hard for a few levels to be comfortable with... then your exp rate increases because you can kill more creeps. After level 15 we were leveling so fast.

i don't see why people complain so much at the exp rate (happens a lot in public games too), other than those are the type of people that play maps like Legends Divinity where you get uber hero with 50% life leach within 10 minutes and nothing can hurt you ever. Or play the old version of eq2, you can solo the whole map within 20 minutes then -repick and give your items to new characters.. SNORE

I have changed Shadow warrior which is my char into Berserker.

I'm so regret why I didn't change my char early.
I'm so happy now. My char's level is already 76!

I already said, before my comment, This map is so hard for beginning user but This map is so easy for experienced user.
What I say now is not both clearing and playing but
is gaining experience. How? Once we invited 10 user,
we're waiting untill many people quited.
then, we load my char and gather mobs which are spider, wizard, wolf, and so one to fountain

you know, Game difficulty and rate of Experience were not changed though user had exited this map.
we can easily gather both item and experience.

there's useful bug.

first, user who have assasin char should select shaman and put shaman's item away and load char which is assasin. then assasin char's item were scattered over the map. another user could get this item.

bloodseeker is nice sword. so we can play alone.
We don't need cleric because bloodseeker item have ability which subtract 50life of hero and absorbs as damage amount as 250% life.

We already cleared many boss mob by only two user, including me and my freind. Only 2 boss left we didn't kill.

No offense, but it took us 30 minutes just to reach level 3 or 5 or whatever on the punching bag, and that was constant Exp. If you can level that fast getting 3 exp per kill. That's something like 10,000 experience total, or probally less, how much is level 10 exp? I know level 3 or something is 500, so I'll go with my first estimate of 10,000. At 10,000 exp, that's about 2,750 creep kills in the first two area (to the right and south of town, the spiders and bandits.) Now, assuming that as difficulty increases, experience increases, so it jumps to 10 exp per kill with a 3 person team. That's still 1,000 kills. If you average your way around the experience, and whatever else, it would take somewhere around 1,250 creep kills to reach level 10, assuming 10,000 experience, if I'm wrong, feel free to correct me, and redo my numbers.

Now for the time, with my friend and I, we did about 2 kills every minute, so increase that for the cleric as the 3rd member, and maybe you're doing 4 kills are minute, at level 3/5 (whatever it is at max punching bag will allow, fairly sure it's 3), that's simply due to the low damage and attack rate you do, maybe you can manage 5. Constantly doing 5 kills, or about 1 kill every 12.5 seconds, doing the necessary 1,250 kills = 4.3 hours, or 4 hours and 20 minutes. Now, let's say level 10 is more like 3,000 experience, so, refactoring... one and a half hours.

And that's being totally lenient. If I'm right, and you guys did not manage 5 kills a minute, more like 3, and my friend and I, on average only did 1 a minute with healing and waiting for mana.. at 3 a minute, it's more like 7 hours or 2 hours and 5 minutes depending on much the max Exp is for level 10.

If you have the need to correct me, or input other values, feel free, but I'm going to assure you that no matter what numbers you come up with, without a cleric they would increase significantly, minus a player = even more significantly. I'm guessing my numbers are about twice as big as they need to be, but levels 1-5, should have taken you no less than an hour. If it didn't, then feel free to do it again, and save the replay, to prove me completely wrong.

Now, assuming I'm right in even HALF of my numbers, this game still takes a whole hell of a lot longer then it needs to for it to be fun. My friend and I experiment with all types of RPGs, from easy stuff like CoT to harder stuff like Heart of Winter. So no, we're not wimps to the slow pace, we're BORED with the fact you have to stay in the beginner area for 5 hours to be able to play AT ALL.

That's what I call moronic, monotonous, and isn't worth our time.

And just to make myself clear, I'm not trying to flame this map's creator, he has done a REALLY good job, but I want to point out that it is NOT FUN for people who a) can not host on battle.net or find a game on battle.net (ever), b) who like to play on their own time, taking breaks as needed (we can't devote our lives to this), and c) who just want to play to enjoy the map for its quality, not feel like it's work.

You missed my point entirely, so I'll put it out plain as day:

You can gain 3 levels at a constant speed from the punching bag, then that leveling speed decreases DRAMATICALLY, what I want is close to that same speed with the punching bag to continue, if it continued through level 100, then I would play that far, I'm looking for Constant, not easy, not hard, well hard is good, as long as there isn't a super long period of being bored.

That's what I want.
