Battle Tanks 8.80c Azeroth mod 0.537

This bundle is marked as useful / simple. Simplicity is bliss, low effort and/or may contain minor bugs.
Battle Tanks (Warcraft 3 custom map) is a 5 vs 5 MOBA with two forces and the goal to destroy the opponent’s headquarter. Every player chooses a tank in the beginning. During the progress of the game, you switch to different, more expensive tanks with more hitpoints and more powerful abilities. In Battle Tanks your tank doesn’t have an ordinary attack, but instead you buy weapons from several shops. Each weapon has a custom range, damage and cooldown. Your weapons fire permanently, even while walking or channeling abilities. They attack random targets in range. By positioning your tank you can control what your weapons attack to some extent. Tanks can further buy support items which increase your hitpoints, your movement speed or give you new active abilities. You can combine some of them to create more powerful items.

Changes in mod compare to original map:
  • This mod mainly changes the setting to classic opposition in Azeroth - Alliance vs Horde.
  • Redone landscape.
  • Weapons divided by faction, added new.
  • Changed some sound, including sounds of some weapons and multikill speech.
  • Changed models of units and tanks, both also divided by faction.
  • Added some help to bots.

Make sure there are enough differences from the original or the one you've modified so that this can be approved. Fix what @Alxen345 mentioned, leaks especially. No one wants to play a game in few frames (I've linked a page about leaks below)...

Key Concept
AoS - My favorite type of map. Starting off with the Loading Screen. There should be some pieces of information as in update log for example or you can put them into the Quests Menu. The User Interface is nice but try finding the wide version of it as the human UI combined with that tech UI do not blend well together:week:. Multiple modes of gameplay are available to choose at the start, which is nice. Dying heroes status that go in revive time should be shown in the multiboard since they all die, their timer windows will merge because of the remaining space on the screen. Gameplay
The gameplay is nice and fun, the tanks you can choose from vary in advantages and disadvantages but some of them are really too much. For example, the EMP shock ability from the Exploder Tank that sets his health instantly to 20% of its maximum amount. I know he has the Reconstruction ability to be instantly formed back but that does not save him a lot since he has already a really tiny amount of health. Some abilities have leaks since there were a lot of lag spikes during the gameplay. :rolleyes: Might be caused by the AI, though it shouldn't. The Psycho Laser item is just OP, it instantly wipes you out. Try increasing the attack interval of that item. The Multiboard is fine, it provides enough info of each player. Tower have their attack damage too high. 2 hits from a tower and you instantly die. The AI is ok. Is good for singleplayer testing. Some tanks do not have portrait animation. The Distributor tank for example. His third ability "Tankers little helper" is a passive but has an active icon. His first ability "Heat-seeking Missile" does not consume mana at all. It says it costs 4 mana points per use but the mana pool remains the same even after spamming the ability 10 times or more, and I didn't activate "Thereisnospoon" o_Oso it should have consumed my mana. Shredder's second ability "Magnetic Pull" causes a severe lag spike for 3 seconds. His "Goblin Synergy" is a passive and has an active button as well. This might not be such a problem but for newbies it might seem confusing. Try to find some passive buttons that would fit the abilities. The hiveworkshop icons section has a lot of various icons. Dwarf Engineer hero has a really small scaling value size and he is hard to hit, considering also that the camera view is really high:pwink:. Try increasing his size. He and the Distributor have the same spell on the first tier, the Teleport.

Terrain & Aesthetics
The terrain seems to be fine regarding its environment. The doodads were placed in a smart way to decorate the map. :)

Not much of custom spells yet the simple ones fit the tanks, although some of the them can be found in multiple tanks. That won't show a lot of uniqueness. Some abilities have leaks since they cause a lot of lag spikes.

Final Suggestions
Fix the User Interface, add different abilities to the tanks that have the same abilities. Reduce the damage of some items or the attack interval. Try to take a look at the triggers and fix those memory leaks.

As for now, this one should be left in awaiting update with a rating of 3/5. Also, please improve the description and show what you exactly changed from the original BT to your own version. As in spells, items and so on. Names and values to compare this to the original one. Fix what I mentioned and it can go as approved with a higher rating. :cool:

  • A credits list in the map thread description is required where the names of the resource (models, skins, icons, spells, sound etc.) authors are mentioned along with the specific resource. It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated too.
  • A detailed changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.
  • Map thread tags are important. Please use those that fit and not more or none.

Thanks for some founded darkholes for my eyes, like UI for widescreen, timers and portraits.
UI got fixed, other in progress.

- EMP Shock ability very useful for Exploder on late of game. His unique are in use bombs(buyed on start from Human/Goblin trader) and hulls, then upgrade both. In case that bombs on late game taken off not full HP from Exploder it have the EMP Shock ability to suicide instantly on explode that not give a cash to enemy team.
- I know of that issue with freeze-lags when playing with strong AI (easy and med AI don't lag), but I don't found what release this. For smooth play recommended easy-medium AI, I will take this to description.
- Psycho Laser have too much cost, in which case it will allowed to over a hour and a half at least. Or in Rush Hour mode.
- Rocket tower have powerful single attack, but it's ease to avoid it just running on circle. Laser towers are much stronger, as it costs. Protective defends HQ in which case they are strongest towers. But for this u may buy a mortar team, siege pack or buy a waves with mortars. Traders have some weapons which have strong attack against buildings. Heavy tank may summon mortars. Many ways to easy destroy it.
- Passive icon will fixed, thanks.
- Heat-seeking missle have mechanic with charges that displayed on tank. If it has no charges, ability has no mana for use and has no effect too.
- Tinker and Exploder (and Trader) have teleports by they speciality but it's some different abilities due to their ranges, manacost and cooldown.
- I will try to catch spike lags.
