  • Hey, I'm having issues with NortherBound v1.85 crashing (seemingly) randomly. There are times where my group can play for hours without any problems, then there'll be times where it crashes within the first hour.

    At Ru-WC3-segment there is no map that can be better than Northrend Bound to us at this genre. We play on your map already about.... 2 years. Every week... month new and new fighters becomes a part of us. We suffer a little because NB is on english, and we want to translate it on russian.

    Thats why i ask you - can you, please, contact with me and give us open source NB 1.68 (we play WC3 1.26a)?

    I've been having real life issues lately since covid-19 forced me to return to my home country. Job loss and all that, you know? I'm kind of out of the loop what with the status of Reforged versions and whatnot.

    I've got the whole project on open source right now, and have been thinking about making an entirely new game with similar mechanics, but not based on a 4 to 5 hour playtime. Maybe - a 1 hour playtime, and make it both vanilla and reforged WC3 compatible.
    Hey Wark, I'm a big fan of your map Northrend Bound. One thing I've noticed from hosting and playing it a lot is the Adventurer/Hero route that can be taken by building a Guild Hall is very hard to win with. Defeating a boss or calamity even with high level heroes and tier 3 gear is still extremely difficult yet someone with an army has a much easier time doing them. Since heroes struggle against what they're supposed to beat but can still manage to take down someone's army, I think it would be a good idea to add some changes to these hero missions. For example, heroes take _% less damage from bosses and non-hero units take _% increased damage from bosses.

    You know, I can add that, and a "no flying unit" game mode to the map. I know flying units can be an issue sometimes, so that can be an option. I also may change bandits to be unable to take over towns. You are right, the hero techtree is kind of underpowered. To balance it out after also changing the bandit tech, I may just make racial techtrees a little more expensive so they can't build up as fast (like, +100 gold/lumber per tech structures or make units slightly more expensive)

    The next update will involve the Naga race mostly. It won't be a full race, but they will be unlockable. Other than that, I'll be making certain items more useful, increasing boss health, reducing boss spell damage, and fixing some exploits. I plan to have the update out by the 25th.

    If you want to help, report any bugs you find in that next update!
    I've been trying to figure out how to black out the dungeons for some time while still revealing the whole map.

    I did use fog actions both in a region and map-wide. It's either I hide the whole map, or reveal it.
    I could see if it works differently now since the new updates.

    Hey Wark, I really love this map, could it be possible that you make other maps that connect to the current one? Like you could use portals from the towns to travel to another map.

    That would be possible for single player, but would be difficult for multiplayer. I could see it work with some kind of save-code system, but that would have to be something extremely elaborate.

    Lately, I haven't done many updates for it since I was obsessed with it for a while, but then got burnt out. I plan to release another major update before New Years this year.
    2nd melee contest poll started, in the link you can (if you wish) download all the maps from the zip file, see them all and rate what do you think are the 5 best maps. If you don´t have competitive melee knoledge, is okay, you can use other criteria like: enviroment, effort, map shape and others.     Tedium affords variety, which is why I just went to Malaysia last week. I suggest just doing something - anything - differently.
    If you need to go somewhere, walk instead.
    Or, take an alternate route. It changes your perspective, and makes things new.
    Also, in the words of Sherlock Holmes: observe, don't just look.
    See things, then ask yourself: "why is it like that?"
    Never lose that curiosity. Curiosity dispels boredom and improves intellect. This applies to work, too. Ask your boss, ask your colleagues, "why?"

    All the Northrend Bound are very good tho I must say the fishing is very slow, maybe if you added a auto cast on it to where we have to be in close to the fishing spot. But that is just me I still give the Northrend Bound Thumbs up.

    Yea, fishing's quite click heavy on a hero. But, if I make fishing autocast on a hero, then it'd be like: walk by any fishing spot, be forced to fish. So, that's also what fishing boats are for! They autocast when close to a fishing spot, and also use the achievement bonuses.

    Now that you said that you are very right on it my bad. I have been playing melee hero's but last night I play a human and got the stats are the sniper gun and it was a melee, I played an elf and he could use it as range why can the elf use range and not the human? Nvm ser I answered the question, I just needed it unequip then reequip it haha sorry about that

    My only resource for models is the Hive so far. I've found cannons, but they don't look intimidating enough. Those you recommended look interesting. I'll have to try them out in game!
